“For many today, religious liberty is not a cherished freedom. It’s often just an excuse for bigotry and can’t be tolerated, even when there is no evidence that anybody has been harmed,” Alito said during a virtual event with the Federalist Society’s National Lawyers Convention, a conservative legal network. “The question we face is whether our society will be inclusive enough to tolerate people with unpopular religious beliefs.”

“Homophobic rhetoric isn’t a matter of free speech. It’s a matter of hate speech,” Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif., said on Twitter Friday. “These are stunning, harmful words from Justice Alito.”
Progressives furious over Supreme Court Justice Alito comments

No, Mr. Gomez, it is not 'hate speech' (whatever the heck that is). It is free RELIGIOUS speech; but maybe he believes that the Bible is a book of 'hate speech'? Little by little the far left wing of the democratic party chips away at our religious freedoms. How long do we stand by and say/do nothing about it?.....just my 2 cents worth.....

If your religious freedom involves abusing people who aren’t like you, then it’s not freedom you’re describing, it’s misusing religion to oppress others

No, this would still be freedom. It is a freedom you find unpalatable. However, a fundamental component of freedom is to do and say that which others disapprove.

Hate speech is any kind of communication in speech, writing or behavior, that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, color, descent, gender or other identity factor. This is often rooted in, and generates intolerance and hatred and, in certain contexts, can be demeaning and divisive.

. Oppressing others isn’t freedom for them . Religious freedom in the USA at least , has meant that that isn’t permissible( well until fairly recently that did mean you could oppress women ,POC , and gays) . The scary thing is that some regressive religious people want to bring all of those back .

Except it seems to be the Christians who get abused as the article indicates.

Christians aren’t being abused by being told that they can’t mistreat others who are not Christians, or not male, or nonwhite, or nonbinary, or any mixture of the above. Some people just get offended when told that they have act like adults rather than act like spoiled children wanting all the toys

Christians aren’t being abused in the USA . F I was going say any group was getting mistreated over religion in the USA Id say Muslims , or occasionally atheists and Jews. In other countries where Christians are minorities, I’d have to agree with you about some of them being abused.

So we should go against the word of God? What part of the Bible do you think is wrong?

I am a former homosexual. But over thirty years ago I repented of that sin and my other sins and turned my life around. I abandoned the idea that I had to be loved, including sexually by another man to have a fulfilled life. That is the truth. That is simply my testimony. Very short and to the point, but that is what I am called to be a witness to. How that Jesus Christ redeemed my life.

I said all that, not to be disputed, but simply to say, that if I share this, my personal experience to the Love and Grace of Our Lord and Savior, what I am saying will be considered hate speech by some. It is far from hate speech. If anything it is love. I have enough love for others who struggle with homosexual desires to tell them the truth. That they too can choose Jesus instead of trying to find happiness by being used by other men sexually. Note that that is not telling them to even change, it is simply telling them that they have a choice. And my testimony for thirty years is that that choice is one worth making. Praise the Lord.

Saying that "whosoever" in John 3:16 includes those with a homosexual orientation is real love, not hate. But the progressives would say even that statement is hate.

. Dogmas aren’t facts ! Abuse is abuse . What about, do unto others...? Would you like to be treated the way some fundamentalists want to treat gays or women ? Especially if it’s over a religious opinion that not everyone ,or even every Christian, shares?

Yes, if I am not following the Lord I want someone to correct me. I treat everyone the way I want to be treated.

my church would have accepted you as is . ( and probably counseled you on getting better relationships) . Self hatred is a horrible burden and the Church doesn’t need to make it worse

Christ's church does not accept sin "as is." It does not anchor the heathen down to remain as they are. It does not serve to prevent change, to hamper improvement and to leave the believer no better than when he was an unbeliever.

Only 8 were saved through the Ark.
Only 2 that came out of Egypt made it into the promised land.

Stay true my friend.
