I'm trying to process the fact that I'm not sad, stressed, worried, hurt, and frustrated constantly anymore.

I must have gotten very used to feeling that way. I suppose it's not surprising, when that was my reality for years on end.

Things that used to make me feel depressed or downcast or melancholy...don't seem so dire anymore.

I'm not used to feeling happy about going home after work. I'm not used to looking forward to weekends.

It feels strange to be comfortable in my own home.

Strange and...good.

And I don't know how to feel about feeling that way.

And I don't know how to feel about feeling that way.

May I suggest that you simple enjoy not being stressed, sad, worried etc and plan some simple things to enjoy.

I enjoy pottering about on Saturday, doing what needs to be done, meals are basic, but part of the pottering is preparing fora family meal together after church on Sunday.
Often there is nothing worth watching on TV so we will play a game, dominoes or someother group tabletop game.

Thank you! I am trying :) It's hard to describe. I find myself enjoying these simple little things, but then there's this sort of bewilderment overshadowing it. Is it okay to feel this way? Should I feel guilty for tiny bits of happiness? Shouldn't I be miserable and broken and prostrate on my face?

I'm very much enjoying the same types of things. The simplest, most basic things. Making meals. Tidying up and doing little household chores. Running errands. Even paying bills! Sitting and looking out the window. Going to bed.

It's just a confusing transition for me to process. To actually enjoy a day. For the past several years, anytime someone asked me "How are you?" my answer was never better than an "I'm okay". It was never "I'm good" or "I'm great".

Follow the advice in that old, old hymn, Count your blessings, name them one by one etc etc
You have the right to be happy in the strangest circumstances.

You can also turn that into a prayer of praise, now that requires concentrating as it's so easy to own and complain, tell God what is making you glad.

I used to love that hymn!

You're right. I need to do that. James 1:17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. I shouldn't be doubting blessings, but enjoying them, and openly being thankful for them. It's hard to do so, or to give ourselves permission to feel such things, in the midst of hurtful or sad circumstances.

Thank you for your sage and sensible advice. I need it :)

I was looking back over my very old posts here on CF from 2012 and found this in a "3 Things From Your Bucket List" thread.

See the American west (including the desert and Rockies).

Explore a castle un-guided (I HATE guided tours), even if I have to pay out the wazoo for the privilege.

Own a horse :)

I am sad that I have done none of these in the past 8 years.

I hate adulting.

Cobra Kai season 3 came out today.. after waiting for youtube to release it, then Netflix.

But.... NOOOOOOOOOOOO my work makes me show up if I wanna be paid.

:puff:

The struggle is real, 3 more hours til I get to watch my stories.

:nowords:

Oh yeah! We've been watching Cobra Kai, too. It's great!

I’m thinking of going to bed early and rereading ‘The Screwtape Letters,’ I’m feeling tired today.

That's my second favorite book ... ;)

C.S. Lewis is fabulous imo. One of my favorite Christian authors.

Oh yes, for sure!! I've only read a few of his books, but I have to say that he was helpful to me way back when my faith was first forming.
