Were really, really infrequently violent.

Nearly all Black Lives Matter protests are peaceful despite Trump narrative, report finds

I mean, not when you turn on the tv or listen to Trump supporters about the hellscape democrat cities have become.

But in reality, numbers show.
Nearly all Police encounters with black people do not result in them killed despite the narrative from BLM, reports find.
BTW I don't recall Trump ever blaming the riots on Black Lives Matter, he seems to always call out Antifa. Any reports on the percentage of Antifa protests that become violent?

Thanks @rambot .
This is a link to the original report. It's worth reading if you have the time. The findings are also consistent with an IPSOS map published a few months ago.
Demonstrations & Political Violence in America: New Data for Summer 2020 | ACLED

This is a summary of the findings, taken from the report, (excluding the section on COVID 19 demos):

AN OVERWHELMINGLY PEACEFUL MOVEMENT
The vast majority of demonstration events associated with the BLM movement are non-violent (see map below). In more than 93% of all demonstrations connected to the movement, demonstrators have not engaged in violence or destructive activity. Peaceful protests are reported in over 2,400 distinct locations around the country. Violent demonstrations meanwhile, have been limited to fewer than 220 locations — under 10% of the areas that experienced peaceful protests. In many urban areas like Portland, Oregon, for example, which has seen sustained unrest since Floyd’s killing, violent demonstrations are largely confined to specific blocks, rather than dispersed throughout the city (CNN, 1 September 2020).

Oh, 'only' 220 locations across America have seen violent rioting by BLM, so the organization is essentially peaceful and should be thought of that way.

Good grief.

Fortunately the violence was short lived in ~most~ cities, but there is, nevertheless, a number of cities where the violence and riots have been anything but short-lived :( Portland comes quickly to mind.

Here, for instance, is a link to an AP article about Portland entering into its 100th day of non-stop protests and riots .. and this article is from September the 4th.

93% peaceful protests and violence happening in only 220 locations is better than more of the same, I suppose, but 100% peaceful protests/no locations with violent protests is the only amount that is acceptable, not unlike a glass of water that has a single drop of urine in it. It sounds great based on the percentages, it's 99.9999+% water after all, but I'm still not going to drink it ;)

I'm sure most of these Black lives matter protesters wasn't part of the BLM Org. Or Antifa. Just average people caring about George Floyd and other black people being murder, by cops. Of course some bad people will riot. And do more harm

We did NOT have 100 days of riots. The cops just declare protests a riot so that they can legally use tear gas. There really hasn’t ever been a major social movement that didn’t involve any property destruction or rioting.

Here's just one "drop in the glass". In my opinion, this is already WAY too much to ever be considered acceptable. This particular "drop" happened earlier this summer, just FYI.

Portland Riot Mob Brutally Beats Man For Having American Flag, Attack Man Who Tried to Help Him

From Twitter: Portland: A man tried to help the man carrying a US flag who was getting beaten on the ground at yesterday’s antifa/BLM riot. They chased him away and kicked him in the face when he was unconscious on the ground.

W8RzZcy_.jpg

One man (this man ^) attempted to stop the horrific violence and was chased and beat down for it. The violent criminals attacked him from behind and he landed face first on the pavement.

As he laid in the street unresponsive, one of the men kicked him in the head as hard as they possibly could. The man’s face was left a bloody and mangled mess. Large fragments of his teeth were mixed with his blood on the pavement.

There are a number of videos, and a whole slew of social media comments about this particular incident from the "protesters", but they are far more disturbing than what I just posted above, so I will not post them here. This, BTW, was hardly the only violent incident that day in that location :(

This has to stop!!

I agree! You know how they always say; "your silence is violence"? If they neglect to disparage violence done in their name, using their own logic, they are just as guilty of it.

I wonder if they agree with Kamala Harris:

All of the people I spoke to who protest have no idea what they really want. They always say something vague like stop brutality, but they have no idea of the amount of brutality taking place from the department they are protesting etc. When pressed it seems they don't know what they want to change, they just say they want change.

My point is, one day (or even one incident) of violence is FAR too much, and we have had FAR more than that, a fact that this thread has already made clear :preach:
How do you propose that the violence be stopped? When you have large groups of angry people, violence is inevitable. It's not a good thing - it's just human nature. In most places, protest leaders have worked with police to identify those responsible for violent acts and looting. I'm not sure what more you could ask of them. Calling off a peaceful protest because a few people instigate acts of violence would seem to be a stance that would be far too easy to exploit. Not to mention a restriction of free speech. The best way - in my opinion - to stop the violence is to address the concerns of the protesters. Soothe the anger and you remove the spark that's igniting the violence. Address their concerns, and the protesters will go home, leaving no cover for those using the peaceful protests to mask their deeds.

Anything else just makes it worse. Using police brutality to crush protests and riots over police brutality only adds fuel to the fire. Stifling speech just makes people angrier, which leads to more violence.

what about the time he defended Kyle Rittenhouse for murdering the BLM protesters by claiming he shot them, with an AR 15 rifle in self defense? "“He was trying to get away from them And he fell, and then they very violently attacked him. … he probably would have been killed.” Trump 8/31/20

and the fact checkers found not connection of the teenagers who assaulted the man to either organization or could they find any motivation for the assault much less because of the flag. Those claims seem to have come from Andy Ngo a blgger with a long history of creating fake stories about BLM
