I'm torn between McClinock and The Quiet Man.

The Searchers was very memorable too.Hard to choose from the Quiet Man and and the Searchers. Not to mention True Grit.
True Grit is a bit too gritty for my taste. Too many snakes...Hard to choose from the Quiet Man and and the Searchers. Not to mention True Grit.
The Quiet Man was definitely the best non-western. True Grit the best western (though not by much). And as a Marine, there’s always a spot in my heart for The Sands of Iwo Jima.
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon is one of favorites also.[/Qr
I recognize the name. I'll have to look it up.
I would love for someone will remake Rio Grande. The storyline was awesome but the film itself was rough. It was hard to hear and watch in hazy black and white.
Wayne was a union officer who was ordered burn down his southern wife's family plantation house during the Civil War. They separated then. Years later after the war, their teen son runs off the enlist in his father's regiment out West with mom chasing after him. It's another John Wayne/ Maureen O'Hara movie.

"No patty fingers if ya please!"I've probably seen all of his movies ... many, more than once ... and have enjoyed them all.
But my personal favorite? It's gotta be The Quiet Man!
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.....This...yes... Wayne's character so got a raw deal. It just wasn't fair. The ending tore me up for time. I like Stuart as an actor but I was not fond of his character at all in that movie. For me it is The Quite Man

Very much so.Did he make you want to reach into that movie and just slap him.
Thanks for posting. It was all about saving face-- never the money. The fight scene is the best!!! People were busing over from other towns. The priest left his fishing hole to see it. The dying man got up to watch. And such lively music to boot. "The books closed. The books closed." The Protestant pastor even won bet money. Oh dear. Charming story none the less. And the studio assumed they'd lose money on this film. They were so wrong.
