Hi everyone. At age 9 I was exposed to inappropriate contentography and was bound to lust and the things that come with inappropriate contentography. By 22 I started going to church. Though church helped me a bit at the beginning, it was unable to help me overcome my sins (it also eventually became a problem). Three and a half years later, Jesus started really dealing with me about my sins, as I was in church, on the choir a Bible school graduate and still sinning. I started getting warnings and eventually read 1 John 3:5-9 literally for what it says:
1Jn 3:5 You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6 Whoever remains in him does not sin. Whoever sins has not seen him and does not know him.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: to destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9 Whoever is born of God does not commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

I prayed and told Jesus that I did not know Him as verse 6 stated, and I want to know Him like this. I also told Him that if it is possible, if it is true, I want the testimony of what John said in verse 9, I wanted to not sin and be at a place were I "cannot sin". About two months later He dealt with me in my prayer closet and showed me my sins, gently rejecting my religious piety and my own works in church. The next morning I was in heated temptation ready to sin again, I called out to Him being at my last rope and He said to me "THIS IS NOT PLEASING TO ME". I submitted to His voice and all the temptations left! To keep things short (this was a very small part of my testimony), this was when I started learning from Him and His Grace (Titus 2:11-12) and He started teaching me how to overcome temptation through trust in Him and His Words and instructions!!

So I am on here to encourage anyone struggling with sin, that yes through Jesus Christ the Word of God we can stop sinning and overcome the wicked one and the world!!!

I hope my testimony can be a blessing to someone out there!!!

May the Father and Jesus Christ both bless you!!

P.S. I have my full testimony here for people to listen too, so far it is 10/22 videos covering from when I got bound all the way up to speaking to Jesus and then learning how to follow Him:

Amen to that!

Dining on grace makes us love Jesus, and love for Jesus doesn't desire sin but Him and His righteousness to live within.

Good testimony! If I might share a few thoughts.

There would be times I'd sin and I'd go to the Lord and quote 1 John 1:9 ...that if we confess our sins he would be faithful and just to forgive us our sins.....and I'd go through the process of confessing it and declaring that I receive my cleansing thanking him for it.

I felt the Lord say, "That's right and I will do that.....but one thing you've got to know most times it's not the actual sin itself which is the problem......I mean YES I'll take care of that for you....but here's basically your real problem....you're not in fellowship with me strong enough to have the power to overcome temptation......if you were in closer fellowship with my presence manifesting many of whatever sins wouldn't even be a temptation to you......being FULL of my word, and having praise and worship and prayer you'd find my power would zap those temptations dead in other words they wouldn't even fizz on you." Jesus in scripture put it this way, "Sanctify them through the word" John 17:17

Without this one ends up on a never ending cycle of sinning and yes genuinely feeling bad about it BUT.....falling again and again and again and YES God says I'll forgive you BUT understand the process of developing spiritual strength in you that's the more important thing. As the Bible says we can mount up with wings as eagles, run and not be weary the can walk and not faint Isa 40:31 but it's the development of spiritual strength not just will power with the desire to overcome. Jesus said with what measure you mete is shall be measured to you Mark 4:24 .....a little bit of word (of God) in you....a little bit of power....a little bit of fellowship with him....a little bit of strength.

So my point. I think God would say to us sometimes that we're really not always understanding what our real problem is. Take care of this and you'll be surprised how little times you'll find yourself falling into sin. Fill yourself with me God says.

That is an interesting testimony Bobber, you have some good points, thank you for sharing. For me 1 John 1:9 was not enough, even worship, praying, studying the Scriptures and fasting was just not enough for me to overcome. Even fasting when my flesh was dead the unclean spirit would still lead me into sin and I would fall. With my situation, I had a demon literally tempting me, plotting and planning and finding ways to keep me bound in sin; even after I started learning from Jesus through witchcraft I would still be supernaturally attacked and tempted. I literally had to learn to discern Jesus' voice and follow Him out of temptation, obey the instructions He gave me to guard and believe the Words He spoke to me. That was how I was washed in His Word. Reciting Bible verses did not work and I got tired of confessing and asking for forgiveness and tired of trying to "stay in His presence"; I fell so many times that I stopped asking for forgiveness and resorted to asking Him to just teach me how to overcome. Ultimately Jesus had to reveal to me the fears and the lies I was believing that fed the evil desire that empowered my temptations that led me to sin. It was through the Truths He spoke to me I found freedom and I did not have to "try not to sin" anymore. Temptations were no longer tempting because I believed and lived in the Words He spoke to me (the Bible could not tell me the truth about my life and the lies I was believing, it told me to go to Jesus LOL). I was free and with that freedom then came the constant perpetual peace and many other blessings.

Also you mentioned "I think God would say to us sometimes that we're really not always understanding what our real problem is." Your right!!! I had no clue for a long time. Similar to what Jesus said to you, it was not just about the fruit of sin, but mindsets I had, fears and lies that I believed. In my testimony, I found that it was not until after I started learning from Jesus and following Him, that when I fell I always knew what the problem was. The Holy Spirit would increase Grace and instruction so I would always learn from my mistakes and be fully informed on the problem and the right way. On top of all this, Jesus explained to me that through His Grace teaching us, He expects us to be perfectly mature and no longer falling into temptation listening to the enemy, but live in consistent obedience to the teaching of the New Way of the Father that Jesus gives us; in doing so we stop sinning completely in this life.

I'm afraid you're going to have to search your own heart for that one. All I know is that the Bible says we are all sinners and makes no exception for you.

Where does the Bible say we are all sinners and stay sinners and never stop sinning in this life?

Start with Romans 5

Okay, well I am not going to be debating as I am not even sure if that is allowed in this forum thread. I will leave you with this: Romans 5 does not say we are sinners, these verse all are in past tense: 6,8,12,19. Romans 5 does not say we stay sinners and can never stop sinning. If you watch my testimony, I explain what happened to me, my encounter with Jesus and what 1 John 3:5-9 says, especially verse 9 and how this applied to my life after asking Jesus to do this to me if it was true and possible.

You are free to believe that no one can stop sinning based on what you believe about Romans 5. But just know that what we believe does not determine the truth; what we believe determines how we continue living. Atheists believe there is no God, so they live like there is no God even though the truth is there is a God, they live a lie. Like wise there are Christians who believe we cannot stop sinning, this means they will just continue sinning, living in lies, as sin starts with lies. The truth is we can do all things through Jesus who strengthens us and all things are possible to the one who believes and with God all things are possible; this includes obeying His teachings and overcoming sin, the world and the wicked one. I am a living witness. But if you do not believe what the Scriptures literally say, I do not expect you to believe my witness either.
