Everybody knows that Jesus gave sight to the blind and raised the dead,.. healed the sick and made the lame walk again. However there were also things that He did that I find cool,.. but not really miraculous. How are things like walking on water and turning water into wine actually classified as miracles? I can't possibly be the only one wondering that can I?

Have you ever tried to do either of those...?

full
(If those are everyday occurrences for you, I want to see that YouTube video...! ;))

"Honey, would you walk to the store across the lake and pick up a loaf of bread?"
"I don't feel like walking all that way. Can't I take the motorboat...?"

I didn't say that I could do it,.. or that it wasn't special,.. but how is it considered a miracle when it's not really healing anybody or anything?

Those are miraculous healings (& deliverance). A miracle is any natural phenomenon that occurs supernaturally by God's power.

When it occurs by satanic power, we call that magic (or some synonym).

Think it's interesting that Jesus, while on earth, said look at the signs and wonders "If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in Him." John 10:37-38

One way to think of miracles is as signs. Signs always point to something else. When you see a sign that says, "Kalamazoo 5 miles," you don't stop at the sign. No, you keep driving to Kalamazoo.

In a similar way, the important part of the miracle is not so much the thing done, but the one who does it. Nonetheless, the thing done points you in the right direction. ;) It's a sign.

Miracle: An act by God with no explanation in science.
Providence: An act that can be explained by science, but that God uses to achieve his ends.

In either case, God deserves to be recognized and praised.

You need the right definition of a miracle. If anyone can walk on water with God's intervention then ok, it is not a miracle. As far as I know, no one has managed this. And no one has turned water into wine. Can you imagine how the wine industry would react if someone was able to do that at will! It would shut a major industry down completely.

First of all I think you mean without and second of all there have been magicians who have done this but it isn't real like it was when Jesus did it.

Think what he is saying is some folks chalk up anything supernatural as magic. He's saying God's signs and wonders are not magic (ungodly).

Neither are magic tricks. (Not really magic) They're just for fun, they're fake, and it's only an illusion.

From Scripture -

'Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods." Exo 7:11-12.

"Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,,,," II Thess 2:9

"In the last days, "And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, ..." Rev 16:13-14

One problem is some believers determine if it's God moving by how it looks.

Can we do those things? No.

So, for me, they are indeed miracles.

I think of all of the close calls I've had, and the close calls that I was not aware of. And then I wonder if I get to meet God some day he might ask "Do you remember this place at this time? that was me I protected you"
Some miracles are hard to see.

Because it's done by supernatural rather than ordinary means. The definition of a miracle is that in the natural world it's an impossibility.

There's going to be signs and wonders. In post #14, some Scriptures about what the enemy can do.

Believers need to know the differences between the Godly and ungodly because "...shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." Matt 24:24

The primary difference is the source of the miracles.

Some want to discount all miracles, prophecies, and deliverances. Some use these -
"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matt 721-23
It is clear with "I never knew you" who God is addressing

Plus there are numerous other Scriptures that support Godly signs and wonders today such as "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Mark 16:17-18 Again some believers would select these as their hated, disliked or ignore Scriptures.

"These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation." This truth was stated about Paul and Silas. What could be wrong with that? After she followed them many days saying this, Paul commanded, in the name of Jesus, for the evil spirit of divination to leave her and it did the same hour. (Acts 16). Some who go by appearances would have been OK with her from the get go. But in spite of the truth being stated, through the discerning of spirits, the Holy Spirit let Paul know how to take care of the problem and her motivation.

Those who want God to reveal Himself in "acceptable" ways probably wouldnt carry a cloth.
"God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: 12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
"So that handkerchiefs or towels or aprons which had touched his skin were carried away and put upon the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them." Acts 19:11-12.

Miracles are for today.
'Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." John 14:12 We can discuss "greater works" forever. If we asks amiss, He wont answer (Jam 4). Seems we just need to pray and believe. Leave it up to Him.

Some other differences- Believers will give all the credit to the Lord and not lead people away from Him. "By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus." Acts 4:30

The miracles point to Him, Jesus, while on earth, said look at the signs and wonders "If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in Him." John 10:37-38
