Why isn't there a book of Jesus? Why are four of the five verses you quoted the name of a person?

I'm not starting a debate, I've just ALWAYS wondered that. It's a bit of an anomaly to me... He's the most important yet He doesn't have his own book - instead, He has to hide away in Matthew, Mark, et al...

Thankful to see quite a few Catholics in here. Holding out hope that the rest of you folks will return to Christ's Church under the auspices of the Successor of St. Peter and the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Catholic Church has just way too much paganism that infiltrated into it, thanks to the influence of the Roman Empire.

Ohhhh boy .... Um, sheer number of years as a believer in Jesus Christ has shown me that nothing good or practical will likely be coming of this little conversation starter, so ... why don't we just leave it at that, okay, fellas? The finer details of your beliefs have both been made known; that will be enough.

Not to mention, too much emphasis on people that were not Jesus Christ.
In Luke 11 someone tried to do a hail Mary and Jesus rebuked her.

The focus is on the Father, not the mother.

Of course it's a Baptist that makes bait where none was offered. I'm sure you know there are Catholic responses to these points, but @SarahsKnight has given me a gentle rebuke and reminded me that this is not the place.

If I had to guess, it might be that Jesus wished to partner with human authors in the same way the Incarnation fused Deity with flesh, in the same way that Daniel's vision of the Son of Man is both supernatural entity and the saints of the Most High. Also, culturally, such messengers would carry the full weight of their Master; so, even though they don't have Jesus' name on the superscription, they typically identify the human author as an apostle/servant/(slave)/what-have-you in the introduction which is basically the same thing. That would be my guess.

It's nice to see you again; it's been quite some time. But you're right. I shouldn't have worded my post in such a way as to start something. I had seen more Catholics in here than pretty much ever before and was happy.

Well, why doesn't God have a book just written entirely in first person, why isn't it just installed in our brains the day we're born why does it have to be a physical or digital object that we read?

No idea, just that's the way it has been, many authors, many writing styles over many centuries.

Both I and another CF member who may not want it be made known here who he/she is need prayers concerning finances. We've both been bad off for quite a while through no faults of our own, certainly not due to squandering on frivolous pleasures or anything like that. And please pray that I'll make it well through the next seven consecutive nights of work. Being twelve hour shifts, that's always rough, but, I really kind of had to volunteer for this one. Even the extra overtime money I'll make off of that will barely pay back a fifth of the credit card debt I've had to rack up recently. =/

.... Sometimes ... it's really hard not to be jealous of the rich who didn't have to work any harder - if at all - for their abundance of wealth than the rest of us poor and middle-class workers. I know it isn't right, though, to be envious of the more fortunate, especially when many more still have it worse than me.

I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling. There’s no shame in acknowledging hardship during a period when many are suffering. How would you like for me to pray for you? Do you need assistance with income and debt removal or something more? You are welcome to tell me privately if you prefer.

Every beginning is difficult. Founders work tirelessly for generations to come and it usually takes several before rest is possible. It isn’t a problem-free existence.

Oh, no, it's not that I'm one week from ending up on the streets or anything. Just prayers that it will turn around soon and that, no matter how long I must wait for it to happen, that I will not give up and lose trust in the Lord, and that the other person won't, either. Please.

Life is a game of seasons - nothing good or bad ever really lasts forever. And there's an A side and a B side to absolutely everything; so right now, you may well be broke from a monetary standpoint, BUT never forget that necessity is the mother of invention. So the situation can change us or WE can change the situation. It's in OUR power.

Soon enough, you'll either become so hungry that you'll learn business, research trading and play around in the stock market, OR you may decide to go the other way and invest more back into yourself spiritually and cheapen the importance of the capitalist world. Either side of this coin, the riches WILL come. Because currency is, of course, all relative.

Take on just ONE individual link in the chain at time, slow it down and get methodical. You don't need to run about like a headless chicken. Just believe in your own destiny.
