Do we know what feast Paul was going to attend in Acts 18:21?

21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
It was probably Pesachim/Passover as the Jews were instructed to set aside a second tithe to be spent in Jerusalem during the Passover - Deut. 14:22-26.

Emperor Claudius was mentioned in Acts 18. He ruled from 41 - 54 AD. Paul was not arrested until two years before the time of Porcius Festus, Governor of Judea about 58 AD. Festus began his reign c. 60 AD.

Is porcius festus Latin for dung on a porch?

Although commentaries favor Passover the "feast" that Paul is most likely referring to is the Feast of Unleavened Bread. From Paul's conversion experience this "Unleavened Feast" would have special significance meeting again Messianic followers he would never see again nor Jerusalem nor the Temple.

This seven day "feast" (Acts 18:21) began on the 14th (Passover) up to "until", but not including the evening of the 21st. *This seven day celebration with unleavened Bread began on the 14th. The 14th was the first day no leavened bread was to be eaten. It was the same day the perfect Paschal Lamb was killed by the High Priest at the same time the (unleavened/sinless) Lamb Of GOD was killed.

Paul possibly knew this would be his last Feast Of Unleavened Bread in Jerusalem. We can appreciate how important it was for Paul to celebrate this "feast" that must have had more meaning to Paul than we can imagine. Paul shed a few tears of both joy and sorrow seeing so many Jews that were still blind to the real significance of this 7 day "feast" beginning on the 14th.

Edit: The actual "Feast of Unleavened Bread" began on the 15th through the 20th (up to/until the 21st. Leviticus 23:6 is a summary of the seven days beginning on the 14th (see Exodus 12) when there was to be no leaven in their new homes in the Promised Land. No leaven or leavened bread was to be found in their homes for seven days ... from the 14th up to ("until"), but not including the evening of 21st.

At least 20 Bible translations have the last portion of Leviticus 23:6 as a separate sentence as a summary of the seven days beginning on the 14th. Exodus 12 also says Passover is to be a seven day celebration with unleavened bread. The LORD brought the Israelites out of Egypt on the 15th, but their first unleavened bread was on the 14th with roasted lamb and bitter herbs. What has become known as the Feast Of Unleavened Bread begins on the 15th as that was the first day in 430 years that they were ...

“Free at last, Free at last,
Thank God Almighty we are free at last.”

Tithes were a ritual performed so the Israelites could learn to fear/obey God. Paul had already been converted on the road to Damascus by the Lord, got baptised by the Holy Spirit, took 3 years out to Arabia and then returned to Jerusalem to meet up with Christ's Apostles who at that time were witnessing for Christ and baptising people in the holy spirit.

Why would Paul need to learn how to fear God through the method of tithing? He learned to obey him by following his commandments which he, Peter and John (through the Holy Ghost) revealed to us in great detail in the NT.

The Lord loves a cheerful giver, its in the OT and the NT. The 1st tabernacle people gave willingly and there was more than enough left over. Its the same in the NT. The Lord our God (in his infinite wisdom) will know what to put into our hearts to give. He's the ultimate overseerer of all things. Don't hold 1 mite against his work, but make sure your money, your efforts are directed to a Christ-centered Church where the gospel is preached and its not to line the pockets of a Joel Osteen or a Joyce Meyers.

Getting back to the "feast" that Paul was so looking forward too it didn't have anything to do with Joel Osteen or Joyce Meyers. The Feasts Of The LORD may not be of any interest to the vast majority of Christians. Your post is derailing the OP's thread.
breaking of bread, the Lord's supper with fellow Christians who were still in Jerusalem.
You meant to say fellow Messianic Jews who honored the Feasts of the LORD. The Lord's supper didn't include the breaking of bread with Christians. For your information there weren't any gentile or Jewish Christians at the "last supper." Do you not realize that your quoted comment is not only funny it shows your ignorance of when the term Christians first came into use.

As a guest in this MJ forum you come across as indifferent to the importance of the seven Feasts Of The LORD. As a guest in this MJ forum please desist from derailing this thread with Joel and Joyce.

Your entire post was so far off base from the OP's thread one can only suspect that you're intention is to derail this thread as if the Feasts Of The LORD are ancient history and a waste of your time to show any interest in their importance. Or even ask one intelligent question as a guest in this MJ forum.

You're possibly more interested in Christmas with Santa and Rudolph and Easter with chocolate bunnies and marshmellow eggs than you are learning about the significance of the Feasts of the LORD to Messianic Jews.

Good to know that believers in Jesus Christ our Saviour aren't commanded to follow the feasts, knowledge in them can enhance your faith.

I thought i was going to hell for a slight moment there. Great to know that through prayer, supplications and thanksgiving, i'm not for hell. NT way of offering sacrifices to our Saviour.

I'm actually serious, but i can laugh. If you think i like Western tradition, think again. If you think i desire to take part in Eastern tradition. think again.

Psalms 103:12 speaks from Ruach of a washing.

With your continuous use of the, "god bless".
A faithfull follower Of Yeshua is left with a single Thought.

Do you prefer a north/south division of the House?

Me thinks Victor's agenda in this MJ forum is to convince all Messianic Jews that the Apostles were Christians that worshiped together on Sunday and celebrated Christmas on December 25th.

lol, i'm no Western Christian or Eastern Christian. Free from all those trappings. The Apostles were Christians, there's no doubt about that. They also knew Christ cried aloud on that last day of the feast and said,

"In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)"

The feast Paul attended was the breaking of bread, a remembrance of the last supper till we unite with Christ again in the new heavens and new earth, which Paul may have performed every week. (i still have to work that one out, its in the scripture)

True faith and belief in Jesus as the saviour of our sins, removes our sins as far as the east is to the west of the earth, they are removed by the shedding of his precious blood, so no man, no devil, no price, no power, nothing can ever cast them up again to us and hold us in bondage. Christ's power makes us free, man's laws keeps us in bondage of sin, so man can manipulate us and control us for their own worldly gains.

there's no need for any North/south division anymore, its ultimately God's divine will if there will be, but its not needed. Christ gave his life for us and majority of you are still thinking literally. I'm saddened.

God bless

You continue to insult members of this MJ forum. Are you so blind to the Bible that you're not aware that when the Holy scriptures read "god" (with a lower case g) that it refers to a pagan god.

Are you really that ignorant of the proper use of God vs god. You capitalize Joel and Joyce, as if you have more respect for them, but then insult members of this MJ forum with your "god bless". You lied to us once already by saying you were leaving this MJ forum, but here you are again derailing another thread. There was a time when i thought your contributions were of substance, but no longer.

By the way i've had annointed hands laid on me by more than one Spirit-filled Christian. One little girl about ten years old laid her hands on my head and I could feel the healing warmth radiating from her hand. She was on fire for the LORD (Matthew 18:3). Your recent posts remind me of why too many Christians think they Know-It-All.

technicalities.....they lead you into strife and arguments. Christ died for your sins, accept his offer of salvation and forget about technicalities, they only burden you. I was delivered from an evil life, i have no desire to go back into again.

Read 2 Peter 2:20-21. Do no get caught up again in the old ways Christ delivered you from. The end will be worse for that person than even the sinner who never tasted the good things of deliverance.

There is nothing amusing about replacement theology nor dual house theology.

I strongly suggest that you mind manners of the sop of this sub-forum.
