This was from my virtual campout and I decided to repost this.

Note: This is a work of pure fiction. (At least the characters and scary stuff is.)

Sarah Lillian Olsen was eleven years old and she was a Junior in Girl Scouts. (If I remember my years of Girl Scouts properly that is.) She was really excited about going to Camp Buckeye with all of her friends. Little did she know, the camp was haunted. The first night out at the campfire her camp counselor Mr. Fisher started telling all of the girls the story.

"A long, long time ago way before any of you were born, this camp used to be a place where pirates came to bury their treasure. Many pirates wound up getting shipwrecked here while looking for the treasure and after they died they became ghosts, and it is said that on Halloween night they turn into zombies and walk the earth again." He told them and a bunch of girls started trembling with fright because that was only a few days from now.

Sarah simply just scoffed though. "I'm not afraid, it's just a story. Everybody knows that there's no such things as ghosts and zombies." She told them.

"Yeah, but the real question is do the pirates know that?" Her best friend name Julie Kane questioned her and Sarah just rolled her eyes at her.

"I'm going to bed." She said as she got up off the ground and started walking back towards the cabin.

"Oh come on Sarah, aren't you even scared just a little bit?" Mr. Fisher asked her but Sarah just stopped and turned her nose up at him.

"Nope! And besides even if I was I know that God is going to protect me." She told him and continued to the cabin and got her nightgown on, brushed her teeth, said her prayers, and went to bed. Sarah didn't want to flat out admit it to any of her friends but she had a really hard time getting to sleep that night.

The sound of a leaky faucet, blustery wind, meowing of a stray cat and what sounded like footsteps just outside her door was enough to keep her awake nearly all night. She pulled the covers up over her head as she shook with fright and prayed for Jesus to protect her. Finally, she fell asleep.

For the next few days Sarah had fun with the other girls swimming, kayaking, and horseback riding,.. but the night before Halloween she didn't sleep at all. When the other girls were busy carving and decorating their pumpkins she had fallen asleep with her head resting on top of her arms that rested upon the table. She didn't wake up until suppertime and shortly afterwards, it was time for all of the girls to go to bed.

This time Sarah had fallen asleep, but in the middle of the night she woke up to a shrilling scream from a crossed the hallway and as she quickly sprung up out of bed to investigate, there was a thick foggy mist coming from the room. For there in front of her choking the life out of one of the other girls was a skeleton with devilish red glowing eyes with a red bandanna tied around its skull and a black pirate hat sitting on top of it laughing demonically and poor Sarah had to watch her friend right in front of her.

Sarah started to run outside, but as soon as she made it out the front door she realized that she was surrounded by zombie pirates. She closed her eyes tightly and realized what was going on. "This isn't happening, it can't be. None of this is real and it's just Satan trying to scare me. All I have to do is wake up from this nightmare." She told herself and when she opened her eyes everything was gone and she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank God it was only a dream." She said when one of the other girls walked into the room.

"Emily come on it's time to go." She told her.

"Wait, why are you calling me Emily? My name is Sarah remember, Sarah Olsen." She told her and that's when suddenly the other girl froze and started backing away from her and then quickly turned around and hurried out of the room. "Wait! Stop! Where are you going!?" She cried and as she ran outside she felt her heart drop as she saw a gravestone that hadn't been there the day before and slowly started walking over to it to read it.

In loving memory of Sarah Lillian Olsen
