We should open the schools, but with younger teachers.

What!!! Where are you going to find qualified young teachers? There is already a huge shortage of teachers. I am one by the way. This cannot be a plausible solution. You would simply have babysitters at that point.

Pay them well and give them the lesson plans and let them 'babysit'. Give the kids the lesson plans as well so they know what's expected of them. It's important that the kids get back in school and parents get back to work.

When I was in school everything was a damn mystery. If I had known what the teacher wanted I would have done much better.

This is already happening...older (at risk teachers) are already leaving the profession. Such a loss for America's children.

Let those who want to teach, teach. The rest can stay home.

Do you like playing Russian roulette with people's lives?

I also propose air conditioned hazmat suits for the teachers. And isn't there a way that teachers can interact with the students virtually? Business meetings are conducted this way all the time.

So you are fine with them doing all distance learning?

A/C Hazmat suits are going above and beyond what the school districts can handle more than likely.

Not every course requires an old grizzled battle tested teacher.

All the kids would be in school, the teachers would appear on a big screen.

Maybe the teacher can be shielded from the students in the classroom, perhaps by a clear acrylic partition. They could don a hazmat suit when they leave.

Now you're just having fun. It would need to be the other way around.

Each would appear to the other virtually, but the kids would all be in school, not at home.

That's the point of remote learning ...

Comrades! Answer is plain as irregular mole on face. Toddlers have almost immune systems. They can be teachers. Small ones smart as grownups. Run circles around old sick teachers.

Sure, but we've got to get people back to work as well. This means 'schoolhowzin' for the kids.

I am not going to be a baby sitter. Giving a young unqualified teacher a lesson plan does not solve the problem. Without having a teaching credential and understanding the scientific pedagogical research, a young person is pointless. It sounds like you want to but the burden of the economy on teachers. That's just not going to happen.

I'll bet if Biden is elected they'll be breaking down the door to get back to teaching. How's that for "scientific pedagogical research"? ;)

The teachers unions are the lynchpin in the whole recovery.
