• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I may have just grieved or blasphemed the Holy Spirit

So I was watching some video testimonies about hell on YouTube and this caused me to doubt my salvation. Then some thoughts came into my mind doubting whether or not I have the Holy Spirit. I did not seriously entertain these doubts but now I cannot feel the Holy Spirit anymore.

I know I have Him, because I do not feel any desire to sin, I want to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, He is the only one who can make me shed a single tear, and I felt Him today.

But now that I pray to Him, He is not answering and I am worried whether or not I blasphemed Him with my doubt, or grieved Him. There is no pleasing God without faith.

Anyone know what is going on here? Have I blasphemed Him?

See psalms 22:1-31... Ive learnt to completely switch off to all feelings of abandonment by God. Take a look at David's prayer; but does it mean that God had left him? No! Yet he would sometimes get bad feelings of abandonment. Please do spend time in God's word.

Thanks for your answers. Indeed it seems He did not leave me nor forsake me. I prayed to Him some time after posting this message saying "I don't doubt that it's You Holy Spirit" and suddenly I had the biggest smile on my face and tears in my eyes. I went from feeling sad/numb to feeling joyful instantly. God is so amazing and forgiving. He knows our struggles as humans and He is faithful.

I need to be more steadfast in my beliefs and not be swayed so easily going to and fro from doctrines. And I need to stop watching hell testimonials. I know hell is real but those videos always seem to push people toward legalism, they say so many Christians are burning in hell. Like there's no grace or forgiveness and people must follow the law to the letter. I want to do my Fathers will but we are supposed to be free and rest in Christ.

Hello @Job405, it may not be pleasing to the Lord in the moment, but "doubting" is not a blasphemous thing to do.

Even it if was, the Lord made one thing perfectly clear for us,

Mark 3
28 “Truly I say to you, ALL sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, AND whatever blasphemies they utter."

... except one, and that one is ~VERY~ specific.

The thing to remember is this, if you care .. AT ALL .. that you may have committed the unpardonable sin, then you have NOT done so, because only a man or woman with the coldest heart of stone could do such a thing. IOW, if a person is worried about it then they have not committed it :preach:

God bless you! (Numbers 6:24-26)

Jesus promises anyone who trust in Him for Eternal Life (salvation) has it. Your focus should be on Jesus and His promise and nothing else. No any action you do or whether prayers are answered etc.. Only The Messiahs promise of Eternal Life.
