Donald Trump Shows Frustration Over CBS Reporter's Questions About His Lies, Abruptly Ends Press Conference
President Donald Trump abruptly ended his news conference at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club Saturday after a CBS News reporter asked him why he frequently claims he passed the Veterans Choice Program. The program was created in 2014, under President Barack Obama. But on Saturday, Trump once again took credit for it.

Personally, I think Trump is an optimist. He sees the glass full and will always fight for the brighter side even if it is a lie. I am not justifying his lies, just sayin.
Ahhh! So President Trump would be the human equivalent of this?:

Trump has done very good things for the Vets, far more than Obama did in 8 years. I guess Trump should have exploded and asked the reporter is they were a drug addict and insulted and fumed.
It wouldn't have mattered how he reacted, they would find fault.

Well, he could have avoided taking credit for a law that was passed 2 years before he was president. There’s always the ‘don’t tell blatant lies’ option.

why he frequently claims he passed the Veterans Choice Program. The program was created in 2014, under President Barack Obama. But on Saturday, Trump once again took credit for it.

Most of his supporters will believe him and that's all he cares about, he's certainly not going to give any credit to Obama for starting the program.

However...
Update, July 6: On June 6, Trump signed the VA MISSION Act of 2018, a bipartisan bill that calls for a number of changes at the VA. The new law continues the Veterans Choice Program for a year, but then replaces it with the Veterans Community Care Program.

The new program expands the criteria for those who seek care outside of the VA health care system. For example, it allows a veteran to go to a private provider if the “covered veteran and the covered veteran’s referring clinician agree that furnishing care and services through a non-Department entity or provider would be in the best medical interest of the covered veteran.”

The Congressional Budget Office estimated that “in the early years of the program, roughly 640,000 additional veteran patients would be referred out to community care each year.” The law also requires the VA to provide veterans access to walk-in care from non-VA providers; the veterans may be required to pay copayments, as determined by the VA.

Trump and the Veterans Choice Program

Personally, I think the expansion of the program made it even easier for veterans to use.
I don't think Trump could explain any of these changes that the Congress made so he just left the news conference.
