We are talking about "Legalism" which is not a word found in the NT, yet, Paul wrote an entire letter to the Galatians, that is talking to, and about, Legalism....Legalists
.
This means, that even early on, in the history of Christianity, you had the Father of Church Doctrine writing about Legalism, as this is an issue that is so common.
Jude also describes the same situation, as he faced these same types.

Some of you know, that Paul, and no other Apostle, was given by Jesus The Christ Himself, 99% of the advanced revelation that the Church came to understand as "sound doctrine", and "Doctrine for the Church". So, its fitting that Paul would be the one correcting the heresy that is "Legalism" as this twisted theology has been ruining Christians and creating havoc with in the Body of Christ for about the last 2000 yrs, give or take a day or 2.
This heresy "legalism" is in direct opposition with "justification by faith", and so, we understand why Paul would say of it, that it is an "Accursed of God" theology, and cursed is the person who teaches it and preaches it......Galatians 1:8

Ok, lets find out who is a Legalist here, as this is the means by which you can begin to escape the mental process that has led to the theological breakdown that you have, if you are a Legalist. After all, if you are a legalist, you don't realize it, as that is the nature of deception.
If you KNOW you are deceived, you would not be deceived....now would you?

So, who is a Legalist? This is simple to understand.
A legalist is anyone who believes that you can lose your salvation, or that you have to do self effort deeds to stay saved.
This means that if YOU believe that if you find anyone on forums like this one, who is totally devoted to no other pursuit then to try to convince you that you can "lose it"... =These are the enemies of Paul's theology, enemies of Grace, Cross deniers, and the devoted enemies of sound doctrine.

A Legalist......has "Fallen from Grace"...or another way to understand it, is, they-you, have left Grace, and are now pursuing self-righteousness to try to "stay saved", which is self righteousness.
And what is "self - righteousness"?
Its the belief and pursuit of "saving yourself" by deeds, works, commandment keeping, sin confession, abiding, enduring, etc... committed both before you are saved, and after you are born again. So, unbelievers and believers can be Legalists, but only a believer can be born again.

And what is the principal issue that a Legalist is suffering from inside their mind and within their theology?
Its very simple,...they are not trusting in God = Christ Alone TO KEEP THEM SAVED, and are themselves trying to accomplish this with works, deeds, commandment keeping, sin confession, enduring to the end, holding onto their faith"....etc.
= ALL SELF EFFORT.
This is SELF Redemption that rejects Jesus and the Cross and the Grace of God.

So, a Legalist who is born again, started out trusting in Christ for Salvation, but somewhere along the way, they stopped BELIEVING that God and Christ will KEEP THEM SAVED.
Then enters their "self righteousness" mind, which is to be understood as, "trying to keep self right with God.
This is the same mistake, same Spiritual fail, as found within any other religion, as all religions have one thing in common, which is....trying to connect with God, thru self effort.
So, a Believer who is doing this, the Legalist, has fallen from Grace, and has become Hyper Religious.

Salvation is ALL OF GRACE and none of works.
Grace is the REALITY that God thru Christ saved you and Keeps You Saved.

GRACE, IS Salvation.
Grace, Is Jesus The Christ.
Grace, Is the Blood Atonement
Grace, Is Eternal Life.
Grace, Is Redemption, Justification.
Grace, Is Eternal Life - Eternal Security

So how does not trusting in God & Christ to KEEP YOU SAVED insult God and The Blood of Jesus? Well, realize.....that someone has to get ALL the credit for Salvation, and Salvation is not just having your Sin forgiven...Salvation brings you into Heaven after you die, or are raptured. Salvation makes you an "Heir of God and a Joint Heir of Christ".
Salvation, "seated you in Heavenly places RIGHT NOW".
Salvation has made you "bone of Jesus bone, and flesh of Jesus Flesh".
Salvation has put you "IN Christ",
Salvation has "translated you from darkness to Light, made you a Child of the Light", Salvation has given you "Eternal Life"", and Salvation has recreated your new Identity "in Christ" so that "As Jesus IS in this WORLD....right now...so are all the Born again".
Salvation is for you... "all things have become NEW", and that is including YOU, if you are born again.
You're new Heavenly ID is "In Christ"...Colossians 1:20, "Complete in God & Christ", and GOD expects you to see yourself as HE sees you, as these scriptures just showed you, as that is Right Believing.

So, all that is only some of what salvation did for you, and so who gets all the Credit for making ALL this happen for you and to you, and that includes getting you into Heaven thru Rapture or death?,?
A.) God and Christ.
B.) Not you.
See, its insults God and Christ when a person sets Grace aside (Falls from Grace) ..and starts pursuing works, commandment keeping, confession of sin, repenting, enduring to the end, Holding unto your faith", Abiding... as your reason- means of, in your Legalist's mindset = Making yourself right with God (self righteousness) to try to keep yourself saved.
This insults God and the Blood of Christ when you do this...when you stop trusting God thru Christ to KEEP YOU SAVED, and you start believing you can LOSE IT, then start doing all sorts of works, self effort, to try to keep yourself saved.
So, if you believe you can lose your salvation, then this means you are a Legalist who has turned-fallen from Grace, turned from trusting God to keep you saved, and in doing so you are now insulting God and the Cross by trying to keep yourself saved.

Now here is the verse that a Legalist refuses to believe, and by not believing it, they turn to works and worry and trying to stay saved by whatever means they can keep doing, and doing, and would try to falsely convince you that you need to be doing, also, to "stay saved".

Here is the verse.:
Philippians 1:6. " BEING CONFIDENT OF THIS (FAITH) = God who began your Salvation IN YOU< will be FAITHFUL to COMPLETE IT".

And that is not your FAITH, if you are a Legalist.
See, if you believe you can lose your Salvation, then you are refusing to believe this verse and trust "God who is faithful to complete your Salvation", and by your turning to your "self salvation" Self Redemption attempts, you are insulting the very God and Christ and Cross that you say you are following.

And you are doing this because you have "Fallen From Grace", and you are taking the FULL Credit for Salvation away from God and the Blood and Christ, by refusing to BELIEVE That God ALONE Through CHRIST will complete your Salvation.....= Keep You Saved .

So, that is Legalism.
Its the Devils mental trap that creates a Circular belief system inside a carnal mind that causes you to BELIEVE that you can lose your Salvation.
A Legalist then starts trying to resolve this, by works and effort.. And THIS BEHAVIOR and Belief system take over and denies God full credit due for your Salvation, = by trying to finish your Salvation, (Self Redemption) when in fact, its already finished on the Cross and will be completed by God's "Faithfulness", and is give as a GIFT to the World. "The Gift of Salvation".
John 3:16

So, you are to live holy, and abstain from the appearance of evil, and you are present your body and life as a living sacrifice to the One who bought you with a Bloody price, and you are to always, be doing this. That is your Christian Discipleship... Thats on you.
But you are to never set Grace aside, and the Blood Atonement aside, and try to keep yourself saved.. As you can't.......as only God can do this for you, thru Christ, and did.

The book of Acts says that we cannot be justified by the Law of Moses.

“And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.”
(Acts‬ ‭of the Apostles 13:39‬).

Paul was not talking about the "Law of Christ" when he said, "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace." (Galatians 5:4). For Paul was talking about the Old Law because he was referring to those believers who wanted to be circumcised in order to be saved.

"Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing." (Galatians 5:2).

Circumcision is a part of the Law of Moses (the Old Law) and not the Law of Christ.

In fact, at the Jerusalem council, we learn that a certain sect of Pharisees wanted the Christians to be circumcised in order to be saved and to keep the whole of the Law of Moses (the Old Law).

“And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.” (Acts of the Apostles 15:1).

“But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.” (Acts of the Apostles 15:5).

“Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment” (Acts of the Apostles 15:24).

Paul was condemning the idea of being justified by the Old Law or the Law of Moses. There is a difference between the Law of Moses, and the Law of Christ. We can even see this in Scripture.

If possible, try to only post what you yourself understand, and don't post (cut and paste) other people's work.
Do you own work. Post what you know. Don't copy and paste the work of other's.

Also, the "Law of Christ".....
This is "Justification by faith".

This is the Old Covenant vs the New TESTAMENT.
This is to understand that during the "time of the Gentiles" you have :

1. Dominon of the Law
2. Dominion of Grace.

The Law of Christ is the "dominion of Grace". "you are not under the law but Under Grace".
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the LAW".

GRACE is the "law of Christ".

Obviously you are just spouting off things you want to be true without actually looking at what the Bible says.

My Bible says bear ye [you-all] one another's burdens and so fulfill the Law of Christ. You are making the Bible say something it doesn't.

The bible says in John 5:24 "I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life." But if once-saved-always-saved isn't true, then what is one receiving when one believes? The possibility of eternal life? Eternal life but only until one sins again?

But if once-saved-always-saved isn't true, then what is one receiving when one believes? The possibility of eternal life? Eternal life but only until one sins again?

John 5:24 says,

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:24).

Note on John 5:24:

While the word “hear(s)” in the Bible can be defined as: “to listen,” it can also be defined as “obey.”

First, the EXB Translation on John 5:24 explains that the word "hear" is to: "obey.";

Second, the context supports the idea of obedience because it says,

“And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” (John 5:29).

Meaning, we have to believe in Jesus and obey Him to not perish.

Three, Acts of the Apostles 3:23 confirms this truth. It says that if anyone does not hear that prophet (JESUS), they shall be destroyed; Jesus even told the Pharisees in John 8:47 that they that are of God hear God's word. Jesus was using again the word “hear” as in reference to obey, because the Pharisees did the lusts of their father the devil - See: John 8:44.

As for eternal life:

Scripture says Jesus alone has immortality.

14 “...our Lord Jesus Christ:
16 Who only hath immortality,...”
(1 Timothy 6:14) (1 Timothy 6:16).

So in order to have immortality or eternal life, we must abide in the Son. For Scripture says:

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (1 John 5:12).

So we have to have the Son in order to have life (i.e. eternal life). For he (the person) who does not have the Son does not have life.

What is one way we can have an assurance in knowing the Son or the Lord?

1 John 2:3 says,

“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.”

So in order to have life by having the Son, we have to keep His commandments.

1 John 2:4 says,

“He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”

The person who says they know the Lord and they do not keep His commandments, they are a liar and the truth is not in them. What truth is not in them? Jesus. For Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

so .. you don't keep any of the Lord's commandments?

One part of the command in 1 John 3:23 tells us to believe in Jesus.
If we are not saved by any commandment keeping, then can somebody disregard this portion of the command and yet still be saved? I thought they believed that a belief in Jesus was necessary for salvation.

Posting your own work is always best.
Also, Paul said that "faith is counted as Righteousness".
And he said....>God saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.""
And this..
Romans
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

An unbeliever can "bear one another's burden".
Is that the same thing?

Christ is God.
God's Salvation is Grace.
Jesus, is Grace.
Jesus Himself is God's Grace.
"Grace" is not some obtuse ideological theology.
God's Grace is a Literal offer of JESUS, as found in John 3:16

Jesus bears the sin burden of the World on His Cross.
There is your "law of Christ"., AS found in your burden bearing Savior of the World.

How does He do it, by sacrifice.
What is the Sacrifice,? Its the Grace of God that removes the Law from you, and puts you under GRACE.
Grace is Jesus. So, to be under this Law, is to "no longer be under the law but under GRACE".

OSAS simply means....>"Jesus who saved you, keeps you saved".
How could He not?
He's God.
God does not fail.

Eternal Life is not Temporary.
God's Grace does not have a "part 2" that we do.
To be saved, is what God does for you.
"The Gift of Salvatin".

What we believe is expressed through our actions, which is why James 2:17-18 says that faith without works is dead and that he would show his faith by his works, so doing good work in obedience to God is what having faith in Him to guide us looks like. The problem is that you have misidentified depending on God's guidance as instead depending on our self-effort, so you've misunderstood the whole point in doing good works. There would not be many verses warning against falling away if that were not possible and that is not legalism.

If our obedience to the Torah were for God's good, then it would have been about trying to earn our salvation through our self-effort, however, it was given for our own good (Deuteronomy 6:24, 10:12-13), so our obedience is instead about putting our faith in God to guide us in how to rightly live. Every example of someone living by faith is also an example of someone living in obedience to God's will, such as with the examples of faith listed in Hebrews 11, whereas disobedience to the Torah is referred to as breaking faith, such as in Numbers 5:6. In Revelation 14:12, those who kept the commandments of God are the same as those who kept faith in Jesus. In Habakkuk 2:4, the righteous shall live by faith, and in Isaiah 51:7, the righteous are those on whose heart is the Torah. In 2 Timothy 3:8, those who oppose Moses also oppose the truth, being of corrupted minds and disqualified in regard to the faith. In Romans 3:31, our faith upholds the Torah. God is trustworthy, so His Torah is also trustworthy (Psalms 19:7, Nehemiah 9:13), and a Torah that isn't trustworthy can't come from a God who is trustworthy, so to put our faith in the Torah is to put our faith in the One who gave it, while to say that the Torah is not of faith is to deny the faithfulness of the One who gave it. Only those who have faith in God to guide us in how to rightly live will obey His Torah and will be justified by the same faith, which is why Paul said in Romans 2:13 that only doers of the Torah will be justified, but did not say that we earn our justification by obeying the Torah. So doing good works in obedience to the Torah is what it looks like to trust in Christ alone to stay saved, and God can be trusted to set us up for success, not for failure.

In Romans 1:5, we have received grace in order to bring about the obedience of faith, in Psalms 119:29, David wanted God to be gracious to him by teaching him to obey His Torah, and in Titus 2:11-14, our salvation is described as being trained by grace to do what is godly, righteous, and good, and to renounce doing what is ungodly, which is what the Torah was given to instruct how to do, so God graciously teaching us to do good works in obedience to His Torah is itself part of the content of His free gift of salvation, and participating in that training does nothing to earn it, but rather that is what it looks like to receive it. Our salvation is from sin and sin is the transgression of the Torah (1 John 3:4), so being trained by grace to live in obedience to God’s Torah through faith is what Jesus saving us from living in transgression of the Torah looks like. Furthermore, in Titus 2:14, Jesus gave himself to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession who are zealous for doing good works, so if we believe in what Jesus accomplished on the cross, then we will become zealous for doing good works in obedience to the Torah (Acts 21:20), while returning to the lawlessness that Jesus gave himself to redeem us from would be rejecting Jesus and the Cross and the Grace of God.

"dead faith" is not dead salvation.
Also, works, that you do before you are saved, and after you are saved, are meaningless regarding why you are saved.
If you understand why, then you understand Grace.
If you instead think that your works are necessary to maintain your salvation, or to keep God at peace with you, then you are a heretic, who is a Legalist, who is either not born again, or you are, and are become "fallen from Grace".

If you instead think that your works are necessary to maintain your salvation, or to keep God at peace with you, then you are a heretic,

That is written by someone following the "Boaster Gospel",
someone who thinks it is NOT heresy to teach that men
create "faith" in their hearts then God SEES that good work
and God is then OBLIGATED to save that individual.

That is teaching that MAN is sovereign (not God)
and MAN initiates the salvation process (not God)

And yet he has the nerve to call other people heretics.
Imagine that.

-----------

There is nothing NEW here:
Throughout the history of the church, from the time of John
the Baptist until today, there have been TWO (2) major gospels.

(1) The True Gospel that teaches NO MAN will seek God, no, not
even one [Rom 3:10-12] That ALL MEN are born spiritually DEAD
and are not able to do anything... they are all headed to hell. So,
God "chooses" or "elects" certain people before the foundation of
the world (not on any "works" they will do, but ONLY on His Good
Pleasure)
and, sometime during that person's life, God "draws"
them to Jesus... and they are saved. This is the narrow way.

(2) The false "works gospel" teaches that men are NOT born
spiritually DEAD... they have just enough life in them to be able
to do some works (as listed above) in order to save themselves.
This "works gospel" teaches that MAN is sovereign in salvation
that MAN initiates the salvation process by doing some "work"
and then God is OBLIGATED to save that person. This is the
BROAD WAY that leads Christians to destruction.

This is why it's important for Christians to LEARN something
about Church history... so they can understand this issue has
been debated for almost 2000 years... and they can get some
PERSPECTIVE on what their church is teaching... whether it is
the narrow way to Christ or the BROAD WAY to destruction.

Unfortunately most Christians (and many "teachers") have
no perspective on church history and they just follow whatever
gospel their church teaches. It is the blind leading the blind.

But we should not be surprised. The Bible WARNED that relatively
FEW CHRISTIANS would be saved. And the Bible PROMISED that
there would be very FEW (saved) Christians on earth when the
Lord Returns. So the apostasy in the churches today, where
99% of them teach the BROAD WAY was foretold from the start.

God says we are justified by Faith or damned by unbelief.

Justified = "As many as believe in Christ, God gives to them the power to become the Sons of God".

Damned= John 3:36

No, that is NOT what the Gospel says.
The True Gospel says that ALL MEN are born spiritually DEAD
and destined to Hell because NO MAN will ever seek God...
no, not even one [Rom 3:10-12]

That does not mean SOME MEN will not seek God,
That means NO MEN will ever seek God. We are "damned"
because of "original sin"... why do you INSIST on ignoring the
Biblical teaching sbout original sin? Of course the answer is
obvious... you want to preach the BOASTER'S GOSPEL.
You preach the BROAD WAY that leads to destruction.

The Bible teaches that (since ALL MEN are born spiritually DEAD)
God had to "elect" or "choose" who He would save (based only
on His own Good Pleasure)
before the foundation of the world.

While NO MAN will ever seek God (no, not even one), God then
"draws" His "elect" to Christ and ALL MEN the Father draws
"shall come" and Jesus will lose NONE of His Sheep.
This is the narrow way to eternal life.

While the True Gospel says NO MAN will seek God.
The Boaster's Gospel says SOME MEN will seek God.

The True Gospel says GOD is Sovereign and initiates salvation.
The Boaster's Gospel says MAN is Sovereign and initiates salvation.

One of these Gospels is the narrow way that leads to life.
One of these Gospels is the BROAD WAY leading to destruction.

The vast majority of Christians follow the Boaster Gospel.
The vast majority of Christians follow the BROAD WAY.

Because MANY are called ["called" by hearing the Gospel]
But FEW are chosen ["chosen" or "elected" to become saved]

Well, realize.....that someone has to get ALL the credit for Salvation, and Salvation is not just having your Sin forgiven...Salvation brings you into Heaven after you die, or are raptured. Salvation makes you an "Heir of God and a Joint Heir of Christ".

The rhetoric of this type of argument is all pomp and no power! It does not take into account the dynamic change that happens when one is born again! It's not a difficult task to understand, not a Phd level issue. Before being born again, we are powerless over sin (dead), unable to do that which God desires and which we were created to be able to do: That is why works have no bearing on becoming born again, because we cannot do what needs to be done to please God. (Rom 8:8) But the "after picture" of one who is born again is what we typically call Romans chapter Eight.

We are no longer condemned for our past sins (8:1).
We are "set free from the law of sin and death" . (8:2)
The sinful nature is now the one "condemned". (8:3)
So that "the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." (8:4)

These facts are true, because we are no longer "in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you" (8:9) and thus, again, we can now actually do "the righteous requirement of the law"! (8:4)

Because of this Paul establishes a new paradigm that takes the new reality of one in Christ (born again) into account, namely, that though we free from "the law of sin and death", we:

Still have and "obligation"; that is, a required, necessary need to act, but it is "not to the sinful nature" that used to be our master, (8:12) but rather we now must choose between Spirit and the sinful nature, a choice we did not have in our former spiritual condition. And once chosen, the logical results of that choice will become our eternal reality, namely, "if you (a Christian believer) live according to the flesh, you (a Christian believer) will die; but if by the Spirit you (a Christian believer) put to death the misdeeds of the body, you (a Christian believer) will live."

In short, our pre-Christ lives were unable to choose between the Spirit and sinful nature, but our post-regeneration life has not only the power to choose, but the obligation to do so, and that choice will have obligatory results, good or bad, in eternity! Our choices are directly related to our future spiritual reality, eternal life or eternal death!

Your argument seems to assume that we are either still incapable of actually choosing to not obey the sinful nature, and/or that there is no real obligation "to live according to the Spirit", and/or that there is no eternal consequence for choosing not to "live according to the Spirit" but choosing " to live according to the sinful nature ", totally obliterating any meaning to the contrasting terms of eternal life and eternal death!

First, the EXB Translation on John 5:24 explains that the word "hear" is to: "obey.";

What is the "EXB Translation" ?

As for eternal life:

Scripture says Jesus alone has immortality.

14 “...our Lord Jesus Christ:
16 Who only hath immortality,...”
(1 Timothy 6:14) (1 Timothy 6:16).
So in order to have immortality or eternal life, we must abide in the Son. For Scripture says:

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (1 John 5:12).

I think I you are mis-defining immortality and eternal life/death. We are all immortal souls for we are created in God's image and will never cease to exist. We are not immortal in the sense of being eternally existent/uncreated, but we do not ever cease to exist once we are born. "Eternal life/death" is a statement of quality regarding our existing eternally; we are either eternally living with God in fellowship, or we are eternally separated from God's loving presence and provision (death) without hope.

What is the "EXB Translation" ?

A simple Google.com search would reveal this to you by typing the key words “EXB Translation” into Google, and then hitting enter.

If you were to do so, the search results will tell you that it is the Expanded Bible.

John 5:24 EXB at Biblegateway states:

“I tell you the truth [Truly, truly I say to you], whoever hears [obeys] what I say [my word/message] and believes in the One who sent me has eternal life. That person will not be judged guilty [come into judgment/condemnation] but has already left death and entered life [ passed from death into life].” (John 5:24) (EXB) (Expanded Bible).

While I believe the King James is the divinely inspired perfect Word of God, I do quote from Modern Translations (on occasion) if it happens to line up with the KJV. The King James is my final word of authority. Modern Translations are not always correct in what they say. But I do quote from them at times so as to clarify what the KJV says.

You said:

Simply read these verses in Scripture and believe them. Nowhere does the Bible teach that the soul is inherently immortal. Only Jesus alone has immortality (See again: 1 Timothy 6:16). 1 John 5:12 says he that has the Son has life, and he that does not have the Son does not have life. Think. You cannot have life if you are already immortal or forever living. Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10). Believing the soul is inherently immortal is what what Greek philosophy taught, and it is what the church today teaches with no Scriptural evidence.
