GOP Pennsylvania State Senator charged with child inappropriate contentography [ETA: pleads guilty]

Attorney General Josh Shapiro has announced charges against Pennsylvania state senator Michael Folmer for possession of child inappropriate contentography.

The investigation began as a result of a CyberTip reporting that Tumblr, a website that serves as a blog and social media platform, discovered that a user had uploaded an image of child inappropriate contentography using their application.

The investigation led to the home of Michael Folmer in Lebanon.

Investigators said they found images of child inappropriate contentography on Folmer's phone.

Court documents show that Folmer admitted to police that the Tumblr account was his and he said he was "dealing with some personal problems and that he received child inappropriate contentography through his Tumblr blog."

Coincidentally, his district is the area is where my paternal ancestors first settled.

Thank you for the update. Really hope he serves full time and not get out early. Article says 1-2 years is standard range penalty for the charge. Seems kinda of light, but I don't know and didn't see the article post the severity of the charge. Nude 15 or 16 year olds I believe counts as child inappropriate content, but so would 4 or 5 year olds. I wouldn't remotely put those in the same ball park either. I'll have to look into that and see if this standard range is something I agree with. The probation and registration looks good to me.

The real test is if he runs for office after his time, and even gets an unwarranted amount of support. That could go either way in my mind.

On top of that when you are in the public eye in the manner of a public official you should know that everything you say and do electronically is watched.

I have been flirted with several times by women...but I actually love my wife. I don't want anyone else. And an affair is a horrible thing. I'm just not wired to do that. (I'm a nobody)
But if I were an elected official...I've got enemies watching me for the slightest mis-step of everything I say or do. I'd have to be careful like Billy Graham was with a bed checker...to remove the women hiding underneath the bed. (Because they literally did)

I think the tenancy is that people who aspire to power and fame may be more likely to be prone to take more risks or be more reckless than the average conscientious nobody like you or I.
