Hello there my friends, I just have a question for you, if God and Jesus promise eternal life, how can they really do that when it`s our soul that ages and not the body, really, every cell in our body is replaced over time, but our soul our being ages over time, if you were to replace every sell in your soul and being, it wouldn`t be you anymore but just a collection of cells in a specific order, so how can they really promise eternal life, and another interesting point also is since we humans are perfectly evolved like any other animal and plant, if it really were possible to live forever, wouldn`t we have evolved to do it already? So, that`s sort of kinda two points againts living forvever; aging of the soul and why we haven`t evolved to do it yet even though we are perfectly evolved to the maximum ... what are you your thoughts about it?

Um, our bodies do age. And in theory, our souls are "ageless". The wears and tears of time will ravage the body and eventually we all die.

The salvation promised by God includes with it a redeemed body which is not subject to mortality.

To your point, however, theologians have speculated on how the process of Christian salvation/immortality will alter mankind's consciousness. There are arguments that part of the Christian model of salvation includes, among other things, perfect and complete knowledge. Nobody is really in a position to say for certain. But I do think it's reasonable to assume that whatever strains the process of aging places upon the soul, God's process of salvation takes that into account.

I must say that your objection intrigues me. The New Testament shows men performing miracles, returning from the dead, etc. Lofty claims, those. But the part you struggle with is the promised salvation (and implied immortality) offered by God? Points for originality because I've never heard anybody have logical problems with this element of Christianity before.

the word soul ... is that meaning the person (as a whole)

ONE INDIVISIBLE WHOLE. "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being" (Genesis 2:7, NKJV).

Scripture gives us a simple equation for understanding the nature of humans:
Body (dust of the ground; the earth's elements) plus
Breath of life ("spirit" of life from God) equals
A living person (a soul).

Nowhere does the Bible speak of the soul as an immortal entity capable of living apart from our body. Neither does it speak of the spirit as an entity which can exist independent of our physical nature. We are not made of independent parts temporarily connected, but of body, soul, and spirit in one indivisible whole.

We Christians understand the soul to be a spiritual thing. It is not made up out of cells.

since we humans are perfectly evolved like any other animal and plant, if it really were possible to live forever, wouldn`t we have evolved to do it already?

We Christians understand "living forever" to involve new (we call them "glorified") bodies that are better than anything in the universe today.

Hello @frankalexanderberg1985

Some good questions there. I hope you allow me share my view on the matter.

if God and Jesus promise eternal life, how can they really do that when it`s our soul that ages and not the body, really, every cell in our body is replaced over time, but our soul our being ages over time, if you were to replace every sell in your soul and being, it wouldn`t be you anymore but just a collection of cells in a specific order, so how can they really promise eternal life

First of all, concerning cell replacement: consider a waterfall, river or sea. We identify these bodies as localised, whether it be Angel Falls, Thames River or the Pacific Ocean. Even though their nature is transient, they have a locality and "presence" that can be seen and identified.

You are much more than passing water in a river. And despite how your body changes and grows, the people in your life know who you are and can identify you. Some aspects of your physicality are transient, but you are more than your skin, nails, hair or cells.

Secondly, let's address eternal life. Do not get confused by popular Christian teachings which are based more on man-made traditions and not the Scriptures themselves. The Scriptures teach us that the life to come looks like this...

Following the Messiah's second coming, New Jerusalem arrives on earth. A great city of an expanse covering most of the Levant. The elect who live in this city do so for up to 1000 years in the Messianic Kingdom. This will be a good life as we have been promised by Yahweh (God) that we didn't get in this crooked and fallen world. We will have empowered versions of our bodies there that can sustain long-life (as the patriachs of old) and it seems the fruit and vegetation there will have miraculous properties in assisting with this.

After this 1000 year reign, then eternal life begins upon a New Earth to be inherited by the elect. From additional books found with the dead sea scrolls, it seems our bodies go through a transcendence at this stage and we become like the stars of heaven. Bodies of light that can be changed at will and liberated from the shackles of decay and degeneration.

At least, that is what my studies have taught me.

and another interesting point also is since we humans are perfectly evolved like any other animal and plant, if it really were possible to live forever, wouldn`t we have evolved to do it already?

You're mixing two trains of thought here, which will make matters complicated for you I fear.

If you believe in the Bible, then evolution has no place.

Evolution is indeed a theory with no significant evidence to support it. It's worthwhile spending time investigating this yourself. Do not take the "We have proven..." and "they now know..." claims lightly. Do not give respect to men just because they wear labcoats or letters after their name. Rather, investigate for yourself and see if you are being provided are reasonable theories or wild interpretations based on assumptive principles.

I used to be an atheist - a hardcore one. I believed in the whole big bang and evolution spin too. But when you take nothing for granted and investigate, you see just how poor the theory is and without any evidence but rather a bias interpretation of observable facts.

So anyway, I can't answer this one for you my friend as it's based upon the assumption that evolution is a thing.

Nevertheless, some interesting questions there! Keep on asking and searching - it's the only way to find the truth on a matter.

Love & Shalom

Hehe, I think alot you know, thanks for saying that I post a little original, I`m still not so sure about eternal life because it would mean or imply that he can change every cell in my soul, but when you changed them all it wouldn`t be me anymore

Eternal life will not be like life on Earth. The Bible says flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of heaven, so it says we will be changed in the twinkling of an eye, when Jesus comes back.
We'll be able to see and participate in dimensions higher than ours.

Actually, I recently sort of found evidence against evulotion, I asked why we have the ability to cry if everything is just evolved from a need, I mean, humans never had a reson to cry really since life always have been good except the last two-thousands years

Interesting, yes, perhaps the body ages also, does it do that because when the soul ages it get`s more difficult to maintain the body perhaps?

Yeah, some claim we are electricity, but I don`t believe in that

Yes, modern physics is really strange. Common sense tells me my table is solid, but physics claims it's mostly empty space with electrically charged particles whizzing around. Of course electricity alone cannot constrain the motions and cause the shape to endure. There is a strong nuclear force that locks things into place, and the very subtle weak nuclear force and gravitation which gives things just the right balance. Everything moves about in a wild dance, yet patterns persist because there is just the right balance of constraints.

Yes, I think you can get very far with just normal sense

So, should we reject modern physics as a lot of mystical nonsense, or is it possible that all those weird forces exist within my "common sense" table?

I personally think most researchers and scientists just talk nonsense because they aren`t really interested in anything like most people^^

Wow, great point.

The whole evolution thing is purposeful indoctrination. Academically, to question it is to be laughed at, and to provide evidence against the theory is hushed and censored. Which is hardly a scientific approach which should always be looking to test and prove theories and entertain challenges to it with great examination.

You might like a documentary on this matter, on how Evolutionists censor Creationists and control their careers accordingly, which is currently free to watch HERE.

You dont have any emotion when a loved one passes away?

Tears are also needed by the eyes.

Natives don`t cry really when someone passes away, I mean people who are normal and just live and are born in nature

Uncaring, unemotional, unsympathetic people you mean?

Remember, Jesus cried!
