Hello, I am in need of answers. Anything. I am 18, and I "dont know" how too live my life with God. I am struggling with inappropriate contentography. Im am very confused and I dont know what too do anymore. I try too live my life with God. But temptation brings me in. Sometimes with intention. It feels like I have a wall blocking me reaching my true relationship with God. Am I even "with" him? How do I know he is with me? I am born in a religious family and I feel left out. Everyone talking about "Oh how God is so good, I always feel his spirit" etc etc. How do I feel that? I feel nothing. As in praying and talking to nothing.

Hi Jake!

Have you ever considered asking God for the Holy Spirit? Maybe if you do you will start feeling His presence and that you belong. Scratch that. Not maybe. I believe that you would.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
'feelings' fall under the category of sight.

Falling into temptations is a heart issue.

James 1:13-15 (KJV) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

By faith continue in His grace.

Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Your faithfulness in The Lord is well placed. Wanting to have a relationship with Him is the sole purpose of mankind, and to keep His commandments. I can tell you about my experience with Jesus.

My whole life changed when I asked Jesus into my heart and said the sinners prayer. I have a personal relationship with Jesus and His Father. I have received the Holy Spirit. So I say ask Jesus into your heart. He stands at the door knocking, let Him in.

A heart issue? How could I "Fix" that?

I just dont believe God forgives me. What else am I supposed to do? I try my best to live my life for him. Daily prayers and reading first thing in the day. Its like a pattern, I fall into temptation, ask for forgiveness, im good for a week. Happens again week later. Ask for forgiveness, and same thing over and over.

We can't only He can, that is why I posted Hebrews 4:16. It starts by being born again (given a new heart).
I have a thousand times. I have been having this problem for years. years. I just dont know what too do anymore

You are forgiven for Jesus Christ's sake because He died for your sins. You have to surrender to Him daily. I do anyway, you have to fight the darkness within. God's Holy Spirit does the work through sanctification. Is a daily walk. Don't give up. He loves you. We have to surrender our will to His will.

How would I fight temptation?
Hello Jake, first off, WELCOME TO CF

Bible study begins in about 12 minutes for me, so I don't have a lot of time to talk right now, but I'll be back later (Dv). I'd like to leave you with what I hope is an encouraging thought or two.

First off, you ARE fighting the temptations you are facing right now :) The very fact that your sin bothers you enough to come here seeking a remedy for it is a sign that you are His. Non-Christians (typically) don't care about sin. In fact, they love sinning (I know I did before I became a Christian).

I've gotta go, but quickly, the number one way to start fighting the temptations you are faced with is to take the sinful thought that you are having in the moment, "captive", to the Lord .. 2 Corinthians 10:5.

Also, if you begin to see something out of the corner of your eye that you know you shouldn't be looking at, choose to immediately turn your eyes away from the image (rather than allowing yourself to focus on it), and again, take any sinful thought that the image creates in your mind "captive", and give it over to the Lord to deal with.

And if you feel like the temptation may have become a sin, ask the Lord to forgive you and He will, just like He promises us that He will .. 1 John 1:9.

There is much more, but I've got to go.

God bless you!

Encourage you to thank the Lord for never leaving nor forsaking you, that He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins when you repent, that He cleanses you from all unrighteousness, and He hears you when you pray. Because
"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." Deu 31:6
'...we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I John 1:9
"Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you." Jer 29:12
