'Jesus said 'Love your neighbour as yourself....' In general I hold to that commandment that Jesus gave us, a simple commandment but hard to always follow. However, what if you do not love yourself? By this I mean what if you have a problem such as body dismorphia and other such illnesses where the person hates themselves for whatever reason. Or even the person who feels so guilt ridden that they hate themselves for that reason alone. So, if you hate yourself, are you breaking this wonderful commandment of Jesus?

We should hate our sin, repent and turn away from it. God's grace and forgiveness overcomes us. Then there is no reason to hate ourselves since God loves us so much and He displayed it through His Son Jesus. We would see His image in us and in other people. His love remains in us and we would love Him back.

If anyone hates themselves, then they do not understand God's love for them or they don't really believe in it. They still need to lay down their everything at the cross, find themselves and their freedom in Christ, and be healed of such self-hatred for what Christ did for them.

People with a mental disorder or in some form of mental distress do not always realise or understand this fact.
