Hey everyone, I hope you guys are doing good and happy 4th of July! :)

I have two questions.

Is the sabbath Friday evening until Saturday evening or is it all day Sunday? What day or days should I worship God and recharge?

People talk about me and laugh at me a lot because I stare at them and sometimes make faces. I dont do this to be ugly and rude, I just cannot process what I am seeing real fast. Sometimes when people laugh at me, I feel pressure in my chest and then sometimes my eyes get tear sensations or watery. I am currently taking eye drops for dry eyes and acid reflux pills for my chest. I was just wondering how do you know if people's insults and laughter is bothering you? I dont think its hurting my feelings or bothering me but am confused.

So thats it. Thank you to whoever took the time to read this and thank you to anyone who replies. God bless you!

As a Jewish tradition, Sabbath is from Fri evening to Sat evening. What day you choose to worship God and recharge is up to you. Most protestants go to church on Sunday but [should] worship Him every day.

It's generally considered rude to stare at people, you may be making them uncomfortable by staring at them and they're protecting themselves by responding the way they do? If you feel the need to post online about whether something is bothering you, my guess is it is bothering you.

If you don't think they're hurting your feelings then they're not hurting your feelings. Have you been to a primary care physician, lately? If not, it may be a good idea. They could also help with your eye issue.

I've been to both an eye doctor and family doctor. They're why I am taking eye drops and acid reflux medicine.

Hello,

The Israelites received a double portion of manna for the 7th day for 40 years in the wilderness, so they knew on which day God rested, they have been keeping it ever since, and the period of time that they have been keeping corresponds to between Friday at sundown and Saturday at sundown. The command to keep the 7th day holy is not the command to only worship God on the 7th day, so we have the delight of getting to worship God on every day in addition to delight of keeping the 7th day holy.

The Bible has much to say about the importance of guarding our tongue because life and death is in the power of the tongue. It hurts someone insults and laughs at you, but you need realize that the problem is not with you but with them because they don't realize that you have the value of the blood of Jesus. You need to understand depth of love that God has for you and that how He sees you is much more important than how other people see you. You need understand your identity of who you are in Christ so that you will be pottered by God rather than by the circumstances around you. Your prayers should not be for them to stop laughing at and insulting you, but rather you should pray that you will live in a way that convicts them. You can see if you can be nicer to them than they are mean to you.

The Sabbath Day (7th day of creation) begins at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday.

I stare at them and sometimes make faces ... when people laugh at me

well ... evidentially they find the "faces" you are making humorous in some cases. Some people do in fact perceive staring as being rude. Staring makes most people highly uncomfortable.

Staring is a form of body language ... and people quite often misinterpret body language. Be mindful of it and if you need time to process something you just saw .... then focus on something else (not them) while you are processing it.

Insults ... are the insults related to your staring or something else?

I see you are not Jewish, but Christian, so try to understand the gist of what the Apostle Paul tells us in ch 14 of Romans. He is trying to tell us that what is right for one to do is sin for another. What is right is NOT on a list . What is right for one to do is strictly a matter between man and God and NOT of what people in general think is right. Sin is a matter of the heart and mind; motives and intentions. Just to hate another one has committed murder in their heart and just to lust after a non-betrothed spouse one has committed adultery, for ex. No one will know you committed the sin. There is no "law" against it. God knows and He regards both as sin and that is all that matters.

"Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord." vs. 4-6a

And speaking to fellow Christians: "So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God." vs. 12

"I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean." vs.14

"Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil." vs.16

"So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves." vs.22

About the staring and insults, it is not good to stare or insult. Have you tired to communicate to them that it takes you longer to process your thoughts and that you are not trying to be rude but just taking more time to think about what they said before you respond? Or you could train yourself to look away right after they get done speaking at something else like most do to show that they are thinking about it. But if you stare at people just to stare and you are not engaged in conversation that is not nice at all. Most parents teach their children that, but not all. Sometimes people stare and make faces uncontrollably because they are special needs. I remember when I was a child over a half-century ago my mother's best friend and back yard neighbor had a child with severe cerebral palsy who used to wander into our yard regularly. I was only a child myself. She would just stare at me and make faces along with making physically contortive gestures, drooling, and weird sounds as she could not speak. She was severe and died at 21, I think. But there are those who have just a little touch of this and probably exhibit some symptoms I suppose, but I do not know.

I am schizoaffective. I dont mean to stare on purpose, like I said earlier in the thread, I can't process what I just saw. I dont stare in conversations, i just stare when I go places like stores. I look at people who go past me or are around me.

I'll look away as I process things. Thank you guys for that. But I would like more feedback about how do you know if something is bothering you . . .

Something is bothering you? What do you mean?
  • Not agreeing with your opinions or ideas?
  • Not in alingnment with God's Word?
  • Imposing upon you physically?
  • Imposing upon you mentally?
  • Imposing upon you spiritually?
  • ?????
Staring in the sense which you have given IS imposing and threatening to others esp strangers. They do not know what you are thinking or planning to do only that you have focused upon them in a rude or negative manner. You can only expect what you are getting or worse. These days someone could easily come at you and get in your face and confront you physically. For your own welfare you need to stop that behavior somehow. Are you getting regular and frequent quality counseling for this issue? I think that your REAL answers are to be found there and hopefully it is a counselor whose foundations are built upon God's Word and Wisdom and Love.

Additionally, I just discovered that your disorder is best treated ALSO with medication combined with the counseling? Are you being consistently treated by both?

Usually, if you treat people like a threat, they become a threat.

Now that you have informed us the nature of your situation may I suggest that you move this thread out of the general advice forum here at CF and into one here at CF such as this one Psychosis and Schizophrenia more suited and equipped, hopefully, to offer relevant and meaningful advice or maybe you could close this thread and start another there. Moving or closing a thread can be easily and quickly facilitated by a moderator just open up conversations on your profile and start one or go to the help or moderator selection.

May I suggest that you move this thread. It would be the best one for your interest. If you close it, it will remain viewable here in this forum as is, just able not to be responded to any more BUT if you move it I think the moderator can or will edit it in a light which favors you, like removing my post here and possibly others here, but ask the moderator. I am only going by what I have seen happen in the past when a thread was moved.

Friday evening to Saturday evening. It only matters if you are Jewish.

What day or days should I worship God and recharge?
If you are a Jewish believer in Jesus as Messiah, honor the Sabbath and worship Sunday morning too. If you are not, then you'll have the most options if you worship on Sunday morning. Non-Jewish believers don't actually have a command to take a day off of all work, but it is good to do for your own sake. Rest, balance, and family time are all important.

If it's bothering you, it bothers you. If not, it doesn't. It's like an on/off switch.
