If those well educated with good jobs think supporting the left and its agenda is going to help them keep those good jobs and the life they lead, they are deluded.

In Seattle, the mob went to Major Durkan's doorsteps with its pitchfork and scared her to death. Major Durkan had been bending over backward to satisfy their demands, but nothing she did was good enough for them.

You with the supposedly well educated good jobs, don't be surprised when they come for you too!
Come when you like; I'm ready. Do you prefer goose load or slug?

Just an FYI.

It is not Republicans rioting in the streets.
It is not Republicans Burning down minority neighborhoods
It is not Republicans Destroying minority businesses
It is not Republicans Screaming, marching, throwing bricks and Molotov cocktails at the police
It is not Republicans Defacing city buildings
It is not Republicans Violently attacking and in some cases murdering people in CHAZ
It is not Republicans Publicly endorsing the dismantling of police departments.
It is not Republicans Promoting and escalating war tactics on the streets

It is not Republicans Promoting a culture war.

Wellllll, think about that for a moment. These "mobs" are out there precisely because we have a society that seems moribund when it comes to social and economic justice and equity. Who supports that sort of thing? Republicans. That's kind of what "Conservative" means.

But let's be generous for a moment and say Conservative Republicans want, desperately, for all people to have equal justice and equal opportunity that they simply differ in the means to get there. Well for the past 40 years we've enjoyed "Trickle Down Economics" as kind of the mainstay of our economy. This system was supposed to ensure money flowed to all levels of society and with that tide all boats would be lifted. The exact opposite has happened. AND we as a nation have failed to even address our inherent racism sufficiently to eliminate that problem.

What the scary people in the streets are showing you is what happens when progress is so slow as to be invisible to the oppressed. Even if YOU don't think they're oppressed, your opinion doesn't matter. Mobs don't operate that way. So instead of worrying over WHO'S destroying what, maybe we all need to think about WHY things are being destroyed.

Happy Birthday, America.

I love this country, and I say those who can't stand it should leave for greener pastures too. :)

I love America too. But I see how it can be BETTER. I should think a Christian could see that too! Remember, Christianity rests on the idea that we are all far short of the ideal and that we CAN be better.

I simply want my country to be BETTER than it is.

I've been reading up on how and why people like Trump can gain power, and fear-mongering seems to a primary factor. And this post is a nice example of just that.

"Vote for Trump! Otherwise, they'll come for you! Dun-dun-dun!"

Or "if you don't vote for me you ain't black". Never mind that was someone else.

Wow people have become lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy. I have never seen so much hate for Trump and the people who voted for him. Do these people really think half the country is deplorable??? Sorry but there is not a racist behind every tree. Most of trump voters are not racist. Why must every statue and carving represent racism in your eyes??

when all you have is a hammer all you see is nails. Maybe people should start focusing on Jesus and leave their hate at the door. It’s getting hard to even visit this site anymore. Waaaayyy to much hate.

We can't change the past.

Let me ask you: if the Lakota Sioux came to Washington DC and took dynamite to a corner of the National Cathedral and then carved pictures of famous Sioux leaders in a big chunk of the walls would you be OK? How many years before you and your family would simply "forget"?

I'm curious. Because last I knew the Sioux are STILL VERY REAL PEOPLE and this is STILL VERY MUCH SACRED LAND to them.

Then you will be VERY surprised when you read Donald Trump's tweets. Hatred and unholy doesn't begin to describe his rhetoric.

Do these people really think half the country is deplorable???

No. less than half of America voted for Trump.

(In all reality I don't find Trump supporters to be "deplorable" I was being more facetious there because I was being told I should leave the country. In reality I am sure 99% of the minority of Americans who DID vote for Trump are decent people by and large.)

Why must every statue and carving represent racism in your eyes??

If you don't know the history of South Dakota you should learn some.

I would be mad of course. We can't change what happened in the past. Im not a historian but I would bet the Sioux oppressed and killed other people too. How much land did they take for themselves from other tribes? History is full of people who killed someone and took land for themselves. Should we all just go back where we came from??

I prefer prayer.
Then don't come and kick in my front door. I know, a lot of you like to brag that what you have in mind will be easy because "liberals don't own guns" but it isn't true, so don't count on it.

Ahh, the "They did it too" defense. Sorry. Not gonna give oxygen to that. Is your morality solely based on being as good as the worst you can find in someone else?

That isn't morality. That's something much, much worse.

Mt. Rushmore isn't going anywhere anytime soon. But if you act like it isn't an affront to people still living then you are sowing the wind and the only thing you reap there in the long run is the whirlwind.

We can't go back, but we CAN go forward. And asking people to stop caring about something because it isn't personally important to YOU isn't how that is done.

Because some day, something is going to happen to each of us and we will want people to care.

POTUS 4th of July speech is about the one thing Donald cares about: getting re-elected. It's another divisive speech to stir-up the base before the election. Mobilize the right. Next comes vilification of his opponent. We've seen it all before. We'll see it again.

Oh really? How would you know? If you are an American all the "good" things you enjoy (5 day work weeks, minimum wage, social security, unemployment, worker safety, consumer safety) all came from that same approach. In fact you have never lived in any other kind of America (unless you are 120+ years old).
In America, you acknowledge we already have all the "good" things you listed.

So, pray tell, why are you so unhappy with America?

He really wants his supporters to go to war so they don't think about how badly he has handled the pandemic.

I think his supporters have shown a lot of restraint so far.

I want Trump supporters to stop trying to tear it all down and turn America into a crypto-religious isolationist backwater.

So what's the answer? If we take it down and give back the land to right the wrong will you then fight against the Sioux to make them right their wrongs. I don't see how we can fix the past by getting rid of everything.
