Lord Jesus in Matthew 12:25 says, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand...” And what does a country have to offer, that pledges liberty and justice for all, yet encourages divisiveness within its borders?

Perhaps I am aiming too high. For ultimately, people think in terms of themselves. And if they think in terms of the nation they live in, its only to seek benefit for themselves. So, it is better we regard individuals who stir up divisiveness. In any nation there will always be disagreements among people, but on the whole in many nations, most of these disagreements are either resolved or are made into a compromise until a better solution comes along.

But in a country that pledges liberty and justice for all, there are disagreements that have risen to the level of divisiveness. And what is divisiveness but a disagreement that isn’t resolved or given way to a compromise?

How does God see divisiveness? He sees any divisiveness as interfering with our love for Him and our abiding by the Commands He gave us at the beginning, which is to be fruitful and multiply so that His Creation will be renown and will spread....and more important, so that we who are His Creation will show Him continuous love.

But Satan and other gods who are of the earth are a temptation to those whose belief in God may not be strong enough to realize the threat to us when some, through their behavior, do the bidding of those other Gods. They do not realize the benefits that God bestows on us if we are careful to follow in His ways as is laid out in Deuteronomy 28:1-14, and the consequences provided in Deuteronomy 28:15-68 if we are not careful to so follow.

Those who do not love God should at least be mindful of Deuteronomy 28, in that if you are incapable of loving God you should be at least mindful enough to abide by His Law, which Lord Jesus seeks to fulfill for our benefit. Jesus and his disciples tell us that for those of us who love God it is not necessary to be mindful of God’s Law since through our love of Him we can naturally abide by it without keeping in mind a single word of it.

But some believe they have a better way then to love our neighbor. They encourage us to not love a neighbor who may look different or speak different or worship God in a different way, even though they are regarded equally in accordance with Galatians 3:28. But as described in James 4:11, those who encourage such divisiveness has held themselves out to be judge of the very Law that our hearts and minds of most of us reflect. And in their own way they have judged God and the Law to be nonsense. They tell us to look at things their way, even though their way runs counter to God our Creator.

As they would not be welcome in God’s House as they stand, they should not be welcome in any house, or any city, or any nation. What does the Bible tell us about treating such people? Romans 16:17 says, “I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.” What is the Doctrine but the culmination of every word in the Bible, manifested in its teaching? And 2 John 1:10 says “If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting...”

There are some who may have fallen on hard times, or who believe they have been disrespected by others. They have rallied around a person that has promised them they will have no more hard times and they will be respected by all if they look to this person. But this person, who held a Bible upside down while standing in front of a church very recently, has judged God to be inadequate to see that those who ended up rallying around this person become prosperous and respected. They may have had faith in God, or so they thought. For a person who truly has faith in God is not diverted from Him by disappointments and setbacks and hindrances both real and imagined...A person who truly has faith in God will continue to march onward with His Truth and not allow themselves to be lured away from Him.

You want to know setbacks? Look at the Jews who ended up in Nazi concentration camps, awaiting the Final Solution laid out for them, that is, their extermination. And six million of them perished by that Final Solution. Despite that, they have maintained their love of God to the end, as have their future generations. They did not turn to other gods, even though they would seem to have every reason to.

Look at Job in the Bible. Despite the misery that God put him through, which included the loss of his family, his property and his well-being, he maintained his faith in Him. I’m sure that if he appealed to Satan to do something for him, Satan would have obliged, but at what cost? He would have risked God’s ultimate wrath, and instead of passing on to the House of the Lord he would find himself in the Lake of Fire for eternity. But nowhere in the Book of Job does it say that Job even considered breaking from God, even as his so-called friends urged him to.

What Job and the other Jews were unconsciously aware of in their faith in God, what their heart knew, is spelled out in Romans 8:28...With God, all things work together for good for those who are called according to His Purpose. In Job’s case, when God saw he passed the test laid out for him, He restored Job’s property three-fold, and His well-being.

Look at Jesus. At any time he was on the cross, did he question himself? Commentators have asserted that when Jesus asked “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” he was quoting from the Psalms 22:1 and he meant this question for the Romans who crucified him to ask God, with the understanding that the question would shed light on their salvation if they were to have asked it.

But it is easy to see that those who are weak in faith are easily tempted to veer off the path leading to God, just as a smoker who is weak-willed cannot stop smoking even if they wanted to. We are aware of such smokers. They will keep smoking to appease the temporary suffering they will endure if they stopped, even though they are destroying their bodies which is an abomination to God who made them wonderfully.

By the same token, those who’ve turned away from God to follow someone who sees himself as the better solution than God, as he holds the Bible upside down in front of a church, are too weak in faith to turn back to God since for the time-being their hard times, their setbacks and their perceived disrespect of others can be disregarded as they wear their caps that show their allegiance to this person. And as they risk being forsaken by God, as any of us would be if we turned away from Him, will they even have faith enough, when the time comes, to ask God the question in Psalms 22:1 as the beginning to their salvation?

Yeah, but God also said He will separate the good grain from the weeds. I guess we should just be aware of what He is doing or allowing to happen.
