Material wealth is virtually worthless according to the Bible.

So why should Christians make a big deal out of it??

Don't believe me??

Verses for you:
It is NOT of the Father - 1 John 2:15-17
The wealth of this world is unrighteous - Luke 16:9
Things that concern the flesh is worth nothing - John 6:63

Why fuss over something only as valuable as garbage unless you love garbage (or money)?

NOTE to everyone: I'm not promoting nor condoning deliberate destruction or theft of property. But to remind everyone maybe we're making too much of a deal over nothing - as a Christian should.

They should not. The "prosperity" gospel is an overreaction to the attitude that Christians should be dirt poor, which is false. Money is needed for life's essentials and for the work of the gospel. It's not to be loved, or hoarded at the expense of the poor or the gospel.

The total lack of respect for the rule of law
being shown should worry all of us.

Likely if you owned a business and was experiencing the destruction and looting you would have a different viewpoint.

What do you mean by "making a big deal out of it?"

They use it as a basis to further devaluate a group, to encourage / promote the use of stronger and possibly deadlier means of intervention.

From a big picture perspective, the world's wealth is accumulated through thousands of years of violent taking of lands and exploiting the weak and poor for profit.

Time did not erase the blood of the innocents from wealth / money.

Many Christians don't know this and would rather reject this knowledge if they heard it.

They are fighting the wrong people and sharing the same bed with the enemy.

Laws that were made by people who built a nation on the back of slaves and stolen lands.

Know your history. Time does not erase the cries of the innocents who died at the hands of greed.

Who really is the bigger thief? The Lord also accounts for the sins of our ancestors unless a restitution is paid (repentance).

Take for example Britain

Revisionists love to recall Britain’s participation in
the global slave trade. They neglect to mention
that it was Britain that made the unilateral
decision to ban slavery.

When we measure British imperialism by
its contribution to its colonies and the rest
of the world, it has no parallel.

If you are taught only the bad things about America in schools[which they do mostly], you end up with a generation that hates its history and country.

Know your Bible history. God gives the land to whom he chooses, and sanctions the driving out of the inhabitants, who he considers either squatters or placeholders.

The means of wealth are renewed each time money changes hands. You need to be more optimistic. :)

I do own a business and people have stolen large sum from us, vandalized and did costly damage to our van, equipment, etc, couple people who owed us a large amount that probably won't be repaid anymore due to Covid.

I believe there is a difference between possessing wealth and possessing material means. Material means, as such, is the result of the created order. Wealth is the result of inordinate desire and fear. The shop keeper who is working a business, providing for their family, and a contributing member of a flourishing society is part of the created order. Wealth, on the other hand, is an over-accumulation of material means is hopes of exalting one's self, indulging in pleasure, and achieving security against the inevitability of suffering and death.

If we say that taking the shopkeeper's material means is no big deal, then we treat a functioning and flourishing society as if it is a trite thing. We were created to do just that: flourish together. So, I disagree with the way you are framing this. God intended abundance, enjoyed together. Flourishing life is the goal of God's justice. The sin is those who seem to enjoy the goal, while ignoring their brother and sister who still suffers for lack of the things needed for life. The two gardens that frame the scriptures show my point.

The Christian who goes without is virtuous only because we live in a world where gross indulgence exists. In a world where life flourishes as God intended, asceticism would be an act of ungratefulness.

Optimism doesn't change the truth.

Ill-gotten wealth is always ill-gotten wealth.

Did you read the verses in my OP?

I can counter with verses that support capitalism and free enterprise.

Most wealth is obtained by honest means.

Yep, otherwise, I would not have made this thread.

I have already closed that business and built up another. A very low profile, very low footprint one. Makes just enough money for me for an austere living.

I don't use money to do the Lord's bidding. I use entirely His supernatural provisions. It can do a lot more than the all the world's money can.

You mean laws like do not murder or do not steal?
getting back to the original OP the-fuss-over-lootings

Is it in the name of justice for rioters to do both?
What does Jesus say about obeying authority?
Is this an eye for an eye?

Good for you for keeping keeping on ... personally I just don't think it's right for others to be destructive and steal and certainly does more a lot more harm than good. In fact I fail to se any good in it at all.
