Why should the police protect protesters?

Who are they to protect them from? Shouldn't the police protect property in the vicinity of protests as this is where the destruction and looting also occur (Protests, Act 2-Destruction of property and looting). And doesn't the police presence endanger both police and protesters? And why protect those who throw things at you and want to abolish your job? It's crazy.

Because it's your duty?

It's not rocket science. They aren't supposed to be a gang or a cult dedicated to their own representation.

They are public servants, not anointed warriors of the King.

Also, you aren't born police nor are you kidnapped and pressed into it. If you can't do the job with diligence and honour, you should quit.

That doesn't seem to working out very well for the police lately.

Many do quit, in fact it's a national problem.

Because it is your job you have sworn to do ?

Standing by while the protesters burn the city down? Perhaps they need a better plan, like standing between the protestors and private property.

You're always going to find police at massive gatherings. Protests aren't any different from parades in that respect.

That is unfortunate. It does not change their mission or duty however.

Let’s hope some of the good ones eventually come back.

Their resources are limited.

So which city has been burned down ? Media has been oddly quiet about it ?

I would ask for a source, but I'm not that guy.

They have an impossible mission. Many cops quit when they realize this.

Good?

I'll take no police over false police. If the bare minimum of do their job without brutality and murder is too much for them then they shouldn't be in the job.

Then they should protect the law abiding rather than the lawless.
We have systems for dealing with and identifying the lawless... and it isn't supposed to be "The police deal violence as they choose and declare the victims among the lawless after the fact.".

That's why people are buying guns (again).

Yes, interesting how little those guns have changed anything.

Like what one or two looters shot by someone defending their property and few vigilantes patrolling on end of nowhere with questionable need of their contribution.

What happened to “we are ready and will uphold the law and order of the real US with guns if necessary “ crowd ?

You'll find them in small towns in red states. Men in big cities haven't the stomach for it.

Really, because I thought protesters...well...protested?

So protesting is suddenly lawbreaking?

Protester and looters are joined at the hip; a marriage made in hell.
