Idiot appears to have a neck tattoo (unless that's also something from the movie I haven't seen). Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

That’s how they caught him. It was a dead giveaway.

Um, Presidents do not normally break up protest for a photo op. So let's stop pretending Trump's actions were normal...

Welcome to Trump's America and the new normal.

Americans don’t follow authority like sheep. May be that is what they do in N.K. but not in America. And if Police can’t respect that, and force power .. well you can see what is happening on the street of America ..
Yes and some of that would not be happening if people followed the directions of the police. Freedom and non compliance with lawful authority are not the same thing.

What I'm reading is when the executive branch makes up rules, they need to be followed or else.

Wonder if that applies to things like, say, governors who request people don't go to churches during a global pandemic.
That is being reviewed by the courts.

Why would the President need to disperse peaceful protestors who were cooperating with law enforcement? There was no urgent need for this photo op. It was 100% grandstanding and demonstrated the depth of his religious faith and his inability to lead the nation.
DOJ said it had nothing to do with the President and his photo op

There was this little group of people in Germany in the 1930s who believed along similar lines. The state doesn’t need to explain itself to anyone why it’s putting its boot on the back of your neck.
That is an unjustified reach.

One question? Why would PEACEFUL protestors not disperse when lawfully ordered to do so?
Because they were protesting lawfully. 1st ammendment and all that.

A more appropriate question
Why tear gas non threatening protesters just because Trump wanted a photo?
Couldn't Trump get his photo the next day?

Unless he is telling you that you can't go to the hairdresser. Then it is tyranny.
Unless of course he is enforcing the lawful orders of the elected governor, which he is required to do regardless of his personal feelings on the subject.

Because they can't be lawfully ordered to do so, presuming they've gone through the hoops of getting prior local approval, and that approval can be based only on the larger issue of public safety.

If they are proceeding in accordance with the requirements of public safety already defined by the legal authorities, from that point, the First Amendment prevails.
Assumptions, we all know what those do.

The bolded is incorrect. He might arrest you, but courts do overturn the patently unlawful orders of police officers.
So should people stand and debate the order and fail to follow it unless the police officer explains all the details of why he issued the order?

I've been a member of that jury. I was, admittedly, rather surprised to have been instructed by the court that not only can a police officer be wrong, but a citizen has an inherent right to defend himself against that police officer.

Of course, living through that act is pretty dicey. But the inherent right is there.
Funny, noting that the courts do is much of a surprise anymore.

No, a police officer does not have the authority to create new laws.

That's the way tin-pot dictators like Ferdinand Marcos operated when I was in the Philippines, but that's not the American Constitution.
Exactly where did anyone say the police have authority to create laws? Do you question that they have the authority to enforce laws?

The DOJ has debunked the photo story. There was a legitimate security issue. Tear gas would not have been used it the people had followed lawful orders to leave the area.

Yesterday, June 1, 2020 ... peaceful protests at the White House were dispersed prior to curfew ... to clear the area before Trump marched to the historic St. John's Church ... where he held up a Bible ... upside down ...

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Park Police denied using tear gas to disperse a crowd of protesters outside the White House on Monday night, saying officers instead used smoke canisters and pepper balls to aggressively push back the demonstrators.

Protesters scrambled as smoke filled the streets and AP journalists witnessed people reacting to their eyes and throats becoming irritated. Journalists covering the protest reported the crowd was largely peaceful at the time; the Park Police said they were responding to protesters throwing items, including bricks and frozen water bottles at law enforcement.

Justice Department officials offered a different explanation, saying officers were carrying out Attorney General William Barr’s order to expand the security perimeter outside the White House.

Yeah, funny how this horrible rioting violence wasn’t mentioned by anyone until the administration suddenly found themselves under pressure and needed an excuse.
I think you mean it wasn't reported by the msm who put out a false narrative, they were not going to report any facts that did not support their false narrative.

You'd be surprised how often the latter leads to the former.
