On who looters are, what they want, and why some protests are more likely to include them.

For many Americans watching the country erupt in protests, the looting is the rub. Over the past week, thousands of people have taken to the streets in cities across the United States to denounce institutional racism and police violence after a Minneapolis man named George Floyd died when a police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. But the breaking of windows, burning of property, and stealing of goods that has accompanied peaceful demonstrations makes some people hesitant to throw their full support behind the protesters.

I think so many of the uprisings are nothing more than excuses to make trouble under the pretense of getting justice for Mr. Floyd. I think if he were around today, he'd be really ashamed of what extremists are doing in his name. People like them are only going to set the causes of civil rights and police reform back decades.

My thoughts exactly. It is all a pretense so they can profit or further their agendas. But their fellow man is definitely not on their list of priorities as we can plainly see through their actions.

I'm not condoning what's going on with the riots and destruction, but at the same time, what good are the peaceful protests going to do? They just look and laugh and them as they assemble. I think it's time for another strategy for those that want change. And for that to happen, I think there first there needs to be a main leader stand up that has
credibility and influence that can be a voice.

I'd like to see Barack Obama take a role like Martin Luther King Jr. did. But Jr. was a saved man and I don't think Barack is regenerated (yet). Nor do I think he would be willing to take a position or role lower than what he's already accomplished being President.

But perhaps he, and only he, could accomplish so much more.

"Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing."

So my question is: How can the evil that was done in these situations involving police
brutality be turned to good by giving them a blessing? Any thoughts?

It's going to give the people participating warm fuzzy feelings about themselves, and that's pretty much it.

I don't think all looters have the same motive. Some people think they deserve the loot. Some are greedy. Are any anarchists?

I want to see proof that Floyd is dead. Something stinks to high heaven here. Did you see the mug shot of the officer charged? Looks nothing like the actor in the video. DO your research...........there are MANY things coming out on this case that don't add up. Mason's? Cruiser numbers changing in the different perspective videos? Not seeing video from the wall scene to the vehicle scene? The cop(I say actor) knew Floyd? Floyd was in inappropriate content movies? Floyd was in wiki leaks and knew of corruption? And MANY more. We are being played again.

Because they don't have the Spirit of God in them, they are not saved.

Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:4-6

Alright. I’m not doing that. I’m not into conspiracies as I have had bad experiences with them with family.

How about blessing the police to have the wisdom to perform the investigation even against their own with integrity. Bless them to have the strength to protect the innocent from being looted and property burnt. Bless them to always hold firm their commission to serve and protect.

The action of the few cannot colour our perception of the many. If we don't want the police to profile people then we too must reciprocate in kind and not profile the police.

Without profiling police(many deserve our respect) we can't excuse the ones who use excessive force.

By profit do you mean "get a TV" or something like that?

I would say that many (but not all) of them have a lot of pent up anger and violence is the immediate means that they are using to express it. If a man insults my wife to my face, I know that there may be peaceful means to address the issue, but it should not come as a surprise if I put my hands on him. To a certain extent I think you are seeing the same thing but on a macro scale. I'm not sure if the motive is really to "get a TV" per-se for many people. Stealing or other forms of violence could be the means by which they feel like they can get back at a society that they feel oppresses them.

Now, I think that is misguided, but I think its somewhat more complicated than that the motive is purely profit.

True, but what if it is the "many" who are corrupt and the "few" who are not?

Its often said that it is only a small percentage of police who abuse their power, but I don't buy into all that, myself. The situation has improved over the past few decades but it seems to me that you have had entire police forces that were basically corrupted, with them all looking out for each other. As a black person myself, I have honestly had very few positive interactions with police. Most of the time they have been extremely rude and belligerent to me, almost as if they want to incite me into a confrontation.
