I agree. Normally people who are "out to get some money" either choose to work for it, or they go to a bank and access their own account at the ATM.

What we're seeing is an expression of frustration mixed with entitlement:
"I need this, and the store won't stock it or just give it to me, so I'll just take it for myself."

There are other ways of handling this situation of need that are readily available to people who are in need, without having to resort to lawlessness and public destruction.

What is running this lawlessness is an imputed feeling of entitlement that is encouraged
by the Left.

Not all that clear how one person admitting this says anything at all about other people's motivations.

Saw a clip of a bunch of teenagers drinking beer and laughing whilst waving artful signs around. Looks like that was taking advantage of the chaos for underage drinking and ignore-the-lock-down socialising. Also says nothing about broader majority or minority motivations.

...well of course there are those taking advantage of distracted police forces to grab some loot. I expect one could find a mix of motives among those who are not really there to protest police violence.

I see bricks. It's a weird claim that they're being set out by extremists....or police....or whomever someone wants to blame. After all, setting them out won't ensure they're used and there's far more effective implements of destruction than bricks.

You're right that one looter's explanation is a minimal amount of evidence as to the motives of looters.

I do think that it is far more substantial than the wild speculation that is going on in the various corners of the media. People are looking at Twitter posts and Hawaiian shirts and random bricks like they're evidence of anything.
