Jesus turned the water into wine at the wedding feast in Cana of Galilee. This was the first sign of His public ministry. (John 2:1-11) His disciples were there and His mother,Mary. Mary told Him the wine had run out and told the servants'Whatever He says to you,do it!' The miracle happened and the glory of Jesus was revealed and His disciples believed in Him. 'Expect a miracle every day. Expect miracle when you pray. If you believe it,God will find a way,to perform a miracle for you each day!'

You sound like you worship in either Bethel or another WOF church.

Do you know the role of signs in the Bible? Who were they for, and what was their purpose?

I worship in an Assemblies of God Church. Signs are to glorify God and signs and wonders are to follow those who believe.

Exodus 4 would be a good start for a non Jew to understand the role of signs and wonders to Israel.

How do they relate to Jesus?

Signs are to prove to the Jews that whoever that is speaking to them is indeed sent by God.

Since Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, he was given signs and wonders for Israel to verify his identity. He did more signs and wonders than Moses, Elijah and anyone else.

John wrote his gospel as a record of the 8 signs that Jesus performed in order for Jews to believe that he is their promised Messiah (John 20:30-31).

In that record, the signs are seen as works of God. There are at least two times the John account explains that.

John 10:
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. 25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

John 14
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Notice the Jews are not expected to accept Jesus as the Son of God "by faith"? They require a sign, as Paul explained later in his epistles.

But for us now in the Body of Christ, we are not to seek after signs and wonders. We believe in the gospel of grace by faith, not by sight.

Not sure I understand the point being made, which, if sound, would also not deny those S&Ws as stated in post-3. For post-3 was not an opinion, but from the sacred text (Mark 16:17).

The Body of Christ did not exist until Paul was saved, so Mark 16 cannot be directed to her. If it was, we would also have the power to forgive sins, as John 20:23 would indicate.

It was meant for the 12 to preach to Israel.

The Body of Christ did not exist until Paul was saved,
Where did you get that since Paul openly stated,
", ,they were in Christ before I was. (Romans 16:7) Besides, believing is the only prerequisite for the power to become those sons of God, there wasn't ever a cancellation of any Christian's unforgiveness upon their own unforgiveness, as there was no cancellation of signs that "shall follow them that believe".

When I married my wife,my Pastor who spoke at the wedding ceremony, addressed both of us by our first names and said,'There will be many times when Jesus will turn your water into wine. You will see miracles in your life together,as you love and serve Him faithfully!'

Answer this question. Do you believe and share the gospel of Christ to those who do not and if so are signs following you? If not, why?
Why set the visible and invisible S&Ws each of us has in our personal testimonies against any other of God’s favor, as though anything could separate us from the love of Christ? Are you attempting to answer your own question? One of those S&Ws is the power to testify to an unbelieving world, which you appropriately asked.

Shouldn’t we instead ask whether our hearts are in a state of readiness so the when and if any signs or wonders DID follow closely behind, our hearts would not be dismayed at that exceptional occurrence, but fixed on Jesus and the evident renewal that has already taken place.

I don’t know of anyone here who hasn’t experienced that power to witness to an unbeliever, including myself. Sometimes the Spirit opens doors, and sometimes He instantly reveals the heart before you, such as,

“I don’t believe in nothing!”

Jesus turned water into wine, he healed the sick, and totally astounded the religious and intellectual elite with his teaching.
Mary is right. Do whatever He tells us to do. Whenever we let God be in charge of our lives, we are never disappointed.

I usually use the following rule when reaching out to others. “Preach the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words.”
I share the gospel of Christ to those who are willing to hear it and those who are likely to make a sincere commitment. To others, I try to set an example by the way I live my own life, that they themselves may be attracted to hearing about the Christian life.

Paul himself explained to Timothy and us, in 1 Timothy 1

5 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Paul was the first member of the Body of Christ, to be a pattern from everyone else.

2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.

But Jews require a sign to believe (1 Cor 1:22, Exodus 4)

Miracles can happen when we pray! God can 'change our water into wine' today! Miracles encourage our faith! Miracles are a sign to others that God is with us. Miracles glorify our Saviour!
