When activities return, will those afraid of the virus avoid it?
Causing attendance to drop?
And since it’s virtual now.
If so, what do we do?
The good thing is...
Less going to false “Churches”
Bad thing is
New Christians possibly hearing the word less and less.
Fellow Christians, what will you be doing? I do not know quite yet.

Personally speaking, when the Churches open, I would be there (even though I am over 70)
BUT,
since my wife has a compromised immune system, for her sake, I'll refrain until things are back to 'near normal'.

Undoubtedly those who are afraid will avoid church when they are fully opened.

Personally I think that's the reason that the churches are only semi open now; to induce and emphasize fear in the hearts of Christians who openly gather together and worship God, and instead train them not to do so, or to do it secretly.

Some are afraid of getting sick, others are afraid of death, and still others are afraid of questioning the government or religious authorities who are over them, for fear that they will loose their positions or their economic livelihood.

Yes, those are concerns, but they should not take precedence over the worship and obedience to God.

Early Christians faced these things daily in Rome and other cities as well. After all, no one wanted to be fed to the lions, or be hung on a cross and set afire, or be tossed out of their houses. But they were.

Those early Christians also knew God, and worshiped Him.
So they would openly sing Psalms in the arenas while the lions circled them, and their blood was spilled.
When they were jailed, they prayed and sang psalms, and waited upon God to deliver them.

I just learned this afternoon that when our parish opens this weekend, we won't have a choir, no opening procession,
and there will be no music, no organist, no cellist, no hymns, no sung responses.
I guess it's hard to sing with a mask on. :sorry: :help:

just Low Mass.
no Eucharistic ministers,
no blood (wine),
and no collection by the Knights.
just a self-drop in the basket as the worshipers leave.

How much we will be loosing!

We are still shut. Those masks when shopping make me claustrophobic. Singing with it! Ugh! No way!

I'm going to keep attending online, and phase regular attendance back in as it becomes safe to do so. Churches will have to consider whether they will require wearing masks, or if they will limit the number of people who will come in so that social distancing can be enforced. I literally cannot imagine my church meeting together and practicing social distancing at the same time.

I think as chaotic and uncertain things are, God is under control of His Church.
I think we're all going to be pretty shocked at how much we will be loosing!

I think at first attendance will drop. Many especially those people who have pre existing conditions will wait to see if others who did attend opening services will come down with the virus. Otherwise they will start attending like before after a while.

I will not go to church but will continue online until the number of new cases is very low. I suppose if I were a church leader, that would lead me to think more about attending. I don't consider myself more afraid than others, but I may be more prudent. My take on the virus is that it will get worse and likely that more shutdowns will return.
