Lindsey Graham Opening Inquiry Into Russia Investigation, but Won’t Call Obama

(WASHINGTON) — Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham said Thursday his committee is opening a wide-ranging inquiry into the Russia investigation, but rejected President Donald Trump’s call to bring in former President Barack Obama to testify.

“I am greatly concerned about the precedent that would be set by calling a former president for oversight,” said Graham, a South Carolina Republican and staunch Trump ally. “No president is above the law. However, the presidency has executive privilege claims against other branches of government.”

Graham noted the surprising nature of his announcement, saying: “To say we are living in unusual times is an understatement.”

Graham also said the committee will look into potential abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, during a probe of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. The FBI identified Page during the early days of its investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 campaign and secretly targeted his electronic communications.

While I welcome anything that gets to the facts and provides the truth about the Obama administration and their weaponization of the DOJ and the FBI against Trump and his associates, it seems that this would just be a duplication of the investigation that Durham is conducting that is uncovering some revealing evidence and is expected to issue criminal indictments in the next few months.

Not sure that two is too many?
The stunts pulled should all be exposed
which has proven to take a lot of time.

Buried deep within The Deep State.
Running for cover at this time
hopefully not to escape.

After the Impeachment Hearings, Graham realizes how hypocritical it would appear to the American public for the Republican majority demand that a popular former President testify before the Senate Committee after they had steadfastly refused to call witnesses because they weren't interested in the facts!

Given that Obama is one of the most gifted orators of our time - with his oral skills he would not only remind the American public of the leadership that they are currently missing, but he is more than capable of verbally "undressing" his Republican accusers on national television and expose them on what they are!

Rates right up there with
Adam Schiff and Hillary
but, not close to Biden.

The American public had a good, long look at this President hosting the White House briefings 1 to 2 hours daily - given his background and supposed mastery of this medium, this should have been a marriage made in heaven, but after weeks of "self-inflicted wounds," the polls indicated that the electorate was less than impressed!

"The Donald" must be the first President in history whose advisers claimed he was receiving too much free, daily, nationally-televised exposure in prime time during an election year!

To make matters worse, the American public was able to compare the daily briefings of the President with that of the New York Governor - Cuomo's thoughtful, articulate presentations are a reminder of the leadership that's missing from the White House!

Only problem with Graham's rationale here is that Obama and his minions committed out and out sedition, attempting a coup of the federal government. Such high crimes have no "executive privileges."

I think the thought is ... the more investigations, the better ...

Lindsey is all bark and no bite. And he even softens his bark......where he is compromised. He pacifies us with a lot of tough talk, but bites with a toothless bite. Both Biden and Barry should be put under oath and testify for Barrygate.

There is absolutely no possibility that Obama would show up at the hearing and risk a perjuring charge or refusing to answer questions that would reveal his participation in illegal activities.

Likely because the risk of perjuring himself *would* be that great. ;)

That would cause some problems, wouldn't it? But even worse, Barack Obama is a very smart guy, hard to fluster, and a dangerous witness to question under the best circumstances.

No doubt Lindsey remembers the time Obama showed up at a republican congressional retreat, and handled them so adroitly that Fox news cut the coverage in the middle of the event.

How convenient that this suddenly becomes public months before the 2020 Election - where's the proof?

It's not about proof. It's about damage control for the Trump administration. Even Trump knows that there will never be any evidence for it. He's just counting on his followers to be gullible enough to believe him. His problem is that more and more of them are wising up.

Finally
perfect timing.

No. Too early. Never start a scam so far out that the opposition has time to fact-check it. As you saw when Trump started talking about "Obamagate" and was promptly embarrassed when reporters asked him to say specifically what crimes he was talking about.

He merely whined "you know what crimes", and fled the press conference.

Bad timing, indeed.
