That's disgracefully ignorant and stunningly callous, even for Bill O'Reilly, whose character is infamously decayed. Young, previously vibrantly healthy people have died from COVID-19, and many have suffered from excruciatingly. Healthcare workers who've shown up to their shift on time and given their all in their dedicated service to the wellbeing of others have lost their lives to it, including those who should have had decades ahead of them. I have four physicians in my family who are treating patients with COVID-19, and two in hospitals in areas with higher than average outbreaks. There are refrigerated trucks for the overfill of bodies.

Hundreds of young Americans have now been killed by the coronavirus, data shows
ER doctor: ‘Just because they are young doesn’t mean they aren’t vulnerable’

One of the frightening aspects is that we don't the extent and force of potential long-term impacts from this virus yet. My health was irreversibly damaged by a virus I had as an infant, and I am at increased risk for novel coronavirus and other communicable diseases because of it. For survivors of severe COVID-19, beating the virus is just the beginning. Young people who survive novel coronavirus now could develop secondary health problems as a result of it.

It's also cruel because even someone who is on "their last legs anyway" is still a sentient being, oftentimes loved by many who are deprived of the chance to even say goodbye because they have to keep their distance. It's a heartbreakingly awful way to die. Earlier this week I attended the online funeral of a lovely man who was a senior citizen but younger than O'Reilly (who is 70).

O'Reilly's comments have consistently been reckless. The illusion that youth provides an armor to this virus emboldened so many to disregard the pleas for social distancing at the beginning of the outbreak.
Not only has misinformation contributed to the hospitalizations of many young people, inflicting suffering that can be excruciating, it's put healthcare workers more at risk, and siphoned off manpower needed to care for those who are elderly and more fragile medically. He's contributed to the pandumbic that has worsened this pandemic.

A newborn died from the virus in my state.
The new Fox News endorsed position seems to be that such newborns are on "their last legs anyway". Anyone want to guess how well that'll work in the next abortion discussion?

Now we're seeing what "pro life" really means.

Its a political wedge we can safely drive when it affects other peoples lives.

But when our world is inconvenienced, then anyone is expendable.

To be fair, I have read that some folks in hospice (already near death) have been counted as dying from Covid 19 whether they were symptomatic or not. I cannot find a link to that. There are links where Dr. Birx has said they are counting people who have died of other ailments as Covid 19 deaths. Google can help you find those.

Is Bill O'Reilly still relevant?
He's desperately trying to keep himself relevant it's hard to go from a popular kingpin whose face is seen by millions on a daily bases to a place of mediocrity. Poor old Bill.

....this virus has really shown the true colours of a lot of people, from the quacks trying to sell cures, the conspiracy theorists that want to act like this is no big deal, those that think money is everything, and so on.

Indeed. The only real way you can tell what peoples values are is how they act.

I have question this in another post before, but why Americans give so much credence to talk show hosts? People who are so far removed from the average Joe/Jane?

The other post is Bill Maher this post is Bill O'Reilly.

Ended up dividing people (mostly Americans) along the "Left" and "Right" lines. I find it ludicrous people takes sides and view the opposing as ill-informed or bigoted or anything bad under the sun.

And at the end of the day it clouds your perception and reinforced your own biases. So easily you relinquished your freewill and thoughts to what I would label as "calls of the attention seekers".

Society often operates through influencers, who take up larger positions that groups can identify with.

Such people tend to try to sway larger groups of people because that is what they are good at. They want to effect the public discussion, and this can be done to good or ill effect.

Since we are having a smaller public discussion, that is what we are attempting to do here. Yourself included.

^_^ And here I thought the mythological Sirens are just that myths. Now I know they exist as Bill Maher & Bill O'Reilly. A bummer I would say because at least from what I know Sirens are quite the beauty. ^_^

All jokes aside. I don't think I'm here to attempt to sway anyone to my cause for I have none. Just to share my thoughts.

Don't sell yourself short. Every one of us leads by our actions and words.

The world is better if and when the best of our natures is shown.

It just fascinate me that's all. I myself support neither the ruling party nor opposition in my country. I see both as power hungry selling the idea of greater good of the people. But from how I see them act and conduct themselves I know deep down they only wanted power.

I have no social stand that fits nicely into either side of conservative or liberal. And I'm no centrist. I just view each issue and decide where I stand on it - untainted by intersectionality.
