Sorry. Let me revis, the governor of NY has said they will require anywhere from 17,000 to 40,000 additional ventilators. They have acquired 4400 from the Federal government, 1100 from an Alibaba donation out of China, and they had about 2000 in state stockpile. Another 140 have been donated by Washington State because they had extra. Cuomo also ordered hospitals in upstate NY to give up their respirators as they are not in use. Cuomo said he ordered 17,000 but no one has any as every level of government and entire countries are seeking to buy them.
Anyhow the ICU covid patients requiring these machines in NY have dropped alittle from a few days ago and stands at approx 3800 . NY hospitals have atleast 7500 ventilators altogether in use. So they are hoarding ventilators and the U.S. has pretty much bought them all up where poor nations are screwed at this point.
Are they hoarding them, or are they waiting for when they will need more as this thing peaks?

They have no idea. Numbers are out of thin air that's why they range from 17,000 to 40,000. Just like I was told I have an 80% chance of getting this thing (I remember in early march it was at 50%) and being dead by now.

There are enough medical supplies. Took alittle to get the manufacturing going. Also as a person who lives in NY I'm actually ashamed at the hoarding of ventilators. We took them (to never use) when harder hit places in the world could use them.

Hoarding is going to happen when higher authority declines to lead. The president rather deliberately set the governors in competition for resources.

They never completely ran out. And it's a shortage because masks are FDA approved medical devices, so no knock offs. But the production now is up, hence why we were told the public shouldn't wear them as being ineffective but now they are saying it's a good idea.

They're still saying that the public should not use manufactured masks, but home-made masks. They're saying all manufactured masks should go to healthcare workers.

The 3M company is predicting that they should be able to produce a million masks a day by the end of this month. The US workforce requires 50 million masks a day.

No, that's what they were saying originally that no standard mask are effective so there wouldnt be a run on them. Just last week they changed their tune. The "experts" always knew they worked, just google studies from years back. There is a reason why South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and even Hong Kong have low rates of infection. Here is one from 2003
Face masks are best protection against SARS

Yes, and even from what they did say, it should have been obvious that everyone should have been wearing masks.

They said: "Masks help control contagion spread by infectious people."
They also said: "People may be infectious for two or more weeks without knowing it."
The lie was: "Don't wear a mask unless you feel sick."
In fact, everyone should have been wearing masks from the beginning.
And they certainly must have known that.

There are not enough medical supplies/PPEs to go around if there were medical providers wouldn't have to reuse respirator masks and ventilators wouldn't be in short supply. Many hospitals were equipped with enough ventilators for normal use but not for the hundreds/thousands of added patients from this pandemic.
But New York previously said they had enough supplies. Guess they were wrong?

No he didnt, he is rationing. New York previously boasted they have enough supplies but now they cry that they dont. Poor leadership on their part. But i forgot this whole mess was Trumps fault, lol, we cant criticize liberal New York.

Further "the experts" that people are treating as if they could do no wrong admitted they lied about face mask. Should we trust these "experts" when they knowingly lied once already

Rationing is totally what he is not doing. Rationing would be explicitly identifying how many items would go to whom at what time increments. That certainly did not come out of the White House.

When she said their 'preparedness was high' again they weren't expecting the numbers of infected people that there would be as high as it's become.

I think if you read some other opinions you'll find that the Trump administration isn't being criticized anymore than the previous administration before his.
Was Obama Responsible for N95 Masks Shortage?
Fact check: Did Obama administration deplete N95 mask stockpile?
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?
A disaster foretold: Shortages of ventilators and other medical supplies have long been warned about

The problem I see for Trump is his constant bragging about how his administration is so much better than all the ones who have come before him. A leader, after 3 yrs. in command can't blame a previous administration for something they did wrong without admitting that they failed to do the same thing.
That would be like Johnny saying to his teacher that he didn't do his science project because 3 years ago his brother Eric didn't do his that excuse just doesn't work.
States don't have the financial means to keep as large a stockpile as is needed now but the federal government does.
In a National Emergency, the President can also instruct private companies to make more than they usually do and instruct private companies to convert their factories to make the products to keep the stockpile stocked which states can't do.
No the problem is you want to criticize Trump but when it comes time to criticize New York then you want to keep blaming Trump more. Your partisan bias is showing.

Hes not going to give New York all our national supplies, truth is we are running out. Trump is rationing.

As a voter who has voted for both Democrats and Republicans and in 2018 voted a straight Republican ticket I am not partisan. I call them as I see them. No, I don't like Trump and I didn't vote for him but I didn't vote for Clinton either.

New York started its first serious distancing rules March 16, with NJ. Washington started March 15. You could argue that the whole US should have started sooner, but I don't think NY was behind.

Rules got stricter over the next week.

My reaction at the time was that given what was going on in NY, they should have moved to stricter rules a few days earlier. On the other hand, death rates seem to be stabilizing. Given the delay between onset and death, that makes it look like the actions of May 16 actually had a significant effect.

Okay, you've never been in a real rationing situation.
You are playing with semantics. What i mean is hes not going to give every state exactly what they might need in the future because there are only so many in the stockpile. so for now they only get what they currently need. If that isnt rationing then maybe we could call it sharing?.

Good for you. I happen to like Trump and dont think he should be blamed for every thing. Democrats believe hes evil and blame him for anything it seems., but to me hes just a man with flaws like myself. I believe hes doing a good job in a difficult situation.

So lets hope the doom and gloom isnt a reality.
