That is a nonsensical rant by you, grasping the after wind. You are incapable of understanding the relationship of cultural and social health juxtaposed to the economy. There is no comparison to other pandemics in America with the exception of the Spanish Flu.

We do it your way and American society will collapse.

I re-read the above some hours later and by golly, it's still true.

So what happened during the Spanish flu epidemic?

It's not like we are venturing into unknown territory here. The limits of the federal government over the states are already clearly established. If the federal government tries to overrule the states, they probably will just ignore them.

Maybe, maybe not. President Nixon was able to order a nationwide wage and price freeze.

That's what Donald Rumsfeld did prior to the invasion of Iraq. All the regular intelligence analysts who had been studying Iraq for years refused to validate his claims that Saddam Hussein had new stockpiles of WMD, so Rumsfeld created a new task force of amateurs to "find what the others have missed."
That's why I was questioning if Trump would take responsibility for what this "new" task force advises and he follows.

One, the courts will uphold the federal government.

Two, the states will not ignore the federal government, particularly when it nationalizes the state NGs.

One, the courts are part of the federal government.
Two, the courts had no problem in the past affirming the states over the federal government when it came to issues of federalism, which this is.
Three, the states ignore the federal government all the time.
Four, yes the President can federalize the National Guard, but because of Posse Comitatus doesn't have the authority to use the military to enforce the law. And what would that look like anyway? Would he arrest governors for not lifting stay at home orders?

If you believe all that and think that will prevent the national government from being in charge of this crisis within the states if necessary, you are in for a shock.

I would be in for a shock, because that means the rule of law no matter exists in the United States and we have become a two-bit dictatorship.

Best graph I've seen yet.

Notice that the duration that people need medical care is extended as the curve is flattened. But containment measures must continue over the entire time that infection of the population is possible.
Notice also that the line depicting medical capacity drops over time.

Trump considers creating second task force to focus on reopening economy

Trump was asked about a tweet he’d sent earlier in the day responding to a tweet by Fox News anchor Dana Perino suggesting a second task force focused on the economy.

“Thinking about it, getting a group of people and we have to open our country,” he said. “You know, I had an expression, the cure can’t be worse than the problem itself. Right? I started by saying that and I continue to say it. The cure cannot be worse than the problem itself. We got to get our country open,” Trump said.

It certainly has to begin at some point and always better sooner then later. A task force is a great way to get that ball rolling.

We can't get the country open until we get coronavirus contained.

If he can't do that latter, the former can't happen.

Well not contained at this point but, CV seems to be leveling off.
