Hello again,

People sometimes say they are gentiles and ‘this doesn’t apply to them’ while the same people sometimes quote that there is neither Jew nor gentile. If I don’t practice the Jewish culture, then they say I’m a gentile. If I start to keep the Jewish culture, they say I’m a Jew. If my parents/ancestry are from Jewish line, then they say I’m a Jew even if I don’t practice that culture. And there are many such things which I won’t mention now.

I’m talking about this because I see this is all very dishonoring in the eyes of God and also disrespectful towards our other brothers in Christ who are practicing and teaching from Torah (I don’t mean just the laws but feasts, ceremonies and other things). It is your choice if you would like to follow such things or not, but it comes across very disrespectful towards your brother when you reply to them by saying ‘I’m a gentile. This is not for me’. Why do you grieve the Holy Spirit in such manner? Perhaps, God honoring reply would be something like this ‘Thanks for sharing. At present, I’m not led in the spirit to keep such practices. I shall pray about it and would keep going as the Lord leads me’. Do you not think that is more kindful towards your brother and honoring to God?

We who have accepted Christ are covered by the His blood, born again into the family of Israel and became a part of Christ. God sees us as His Chosen Israel, so why don’t we also consider to see ourselves as God sees us. Maybe not Jew, not gentile, but just as True Israel.

Thank you and God bless.

Because there is still a physical Israel in existence and God is going to transform the whole nation's heart Ezekiel 37 and Paul in Romans 11 explains it as well. I don't know if that answers your question but that is what comes to mind.

Interesting that Isaiah 56.7 speaks of 'a house of prayer for all nations'....

it comes across very disrespectful towards your brother when you reply to them by saying ‘I’m a gentile. This is not for me’.

Can you demonstrate the logic behind your thoughts that when I say "I am a gentile, this is not for me", then its "very disrespectful"?

Thanks for asking. I can but I would prefer to pray about it for God to give you an understanding how it is very displeasing to God and disrespectful toward your fellow brother and how it is
causing division among God's children which is grieving the Holy Spirit.

Just as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, we can't say to each other 'I'm not a hand, I'm not an eye, I'm not an ear...so i don't need that from you'.

Me either.

‘I’m a gentile. This is not for me’.
I've never heard anyone say that. -or I haven't taken any notice.

Are you referring to old Testament law?
As a Christian I am not under Mosaic law.
Matthew 5:18
18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
I believe Jesus fulfilled this and the end came when God rent the temple curtain.

"It is finished" is the English translation of the Greek word Tetelestai, which was the last thing Jesus' said before dying on the cross. Tetelestai comes from the verb teleo, which means "to bring to an end, to complete, to accomplish."

If a brother says that he keeps the law, I will show him verses for why I don't, for the law is bondage and we are now free in Christ. I don't tell him that to be mean or disrespectful but so he may be free. If he chooses to continue that is his choice.
Romans 7:6
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Of course if the person posts about the law in the debate section, you realize they are after a debate? (unless they don't realize what section they posted to) They don't want people to simply replay back in the way you suggest because then they won't have a debate.

You are misrepresenting what Paul actually said.

I know Paul is saying something different. I’m just using that analogy. It’s not perfect but it shows that we shouldn’t be in such a mind set. So that by saying I’m a Jew/gentile, we do not argue with each other regarding lighter matters of theology and decrease the display of heavier matters which are peace, unity, love and kindness.

I think you got it reversed.

Its not that Christians from Gentiles go to Judaizers and command them to stop doing what they are doing. Judaizers are mostly ignored by the rest of Christianity.

Its much more frequent, like here on this forum, that Judaizers come to Christians and force the Law upon them. In such situtation, our defense is just and in the best interest of peace, unity, love and kindness. As the apostolic council did:

"We have heard that some [Judaizers] went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said."

Are you referring to old Testament law?
As a Christian I am not under Mosaic law.

"As a Christian I am not under Mosaic law."

‘I’m a gentile. This is not for me’.

Those two sentences are expressing a similar sentiment.

Matthew 5:18
18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
I believe Jesus fulfilled this and the end came when God rent the temple curtain.

Jesus specifically said that he came not to abolish the law and warned those who would relax the least part of the law or teach others to do the same, so to say that he came to end the law on the cross is to call him a liar and to disregard his warning. Heaven and earth will not pass away until Revelation 21 and that is when all will be accomplished, so both conditions are either referring to end times or are ways of saying that it is never going to happen.

"It is finished" is the English translation of the Greek word T
etelestai, which was the last thing Jesus' said before dying on the cross. Tetelestai comes from the verb teleo, which means "to bring to an end, to complete, to accomplish."

Titus 2:14 describes what Jesus finished on the cross by saying that he gave himself to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purifying for himself a people of his own possession who are zealous for doing good works, if we believe in what he finished on the cross, then we will become zealous for doing good works in obedience to God's law (Acts 21:20) and will consider saying that he ended any laws to be undermining what Jesus gave himself to accomplish.

If a brother says that he keeps the law, I will show him verses for why I don't, for the law is bondage and we are now free in Christ. I don't tell him that to be mean or disrespectful but so he may be free. If he chooses to continue that is his choice.

The freedom that we have in Christ is the freedom from lawlessness so that we can be free to obey the law, not the other way around. The opinion that we have of the law matches the opinion that we have of the Lawgiver. For example, God is trustworthy, so His law is also trustworthy (Psalms 19:7, Nehemiah 9:13), and a law that isn't trustworthy can't come from a God who is trustworthy. Likewise, a law that is holy, righteous, and good, can only come from a God who is holy, righteous, and good (Romans 7:12). David said repeatedly throughout the Psalms that he loved God's law and delighted in obeying it, which certainly matched his opinion of the Lawgiver. If we consider the Psalms to be Scripture and to therefore express a correct view of God's law, then we will share it, and will consider anything less than the view that we ought to delight in obeying it to be incompatible with the view that the Psalms are Scripture. So if you have have such a poor opinion of God's law that you consider it to be bondage, then you must have an equally poor opinion of God for giving it.

Romans 7:6
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

In Romans 7:22-23, Paul said that he delighted in obeying God's law, but contrasted that with the law of sin, which held him captive. If Romans 7:5-6 were referring to God's law, then that would mean that Paul delighted in stirring up sinful passion to bear fruit unto death and delighted in being held captive, which is absurd, but rather it is the law of sin that he described as holding him captive. It doesn't make much sense to interpret Paul as speaking against obeying a law that he delighted in obeying, especially when he said that our faith does not abolish our need to obey God's law, but rather our faith upholds it (Romans 3:31).

Yes, I understand. But is this reply to them is not more peaceful, loving and kindful-

Thanks for sharing. At present, I’m not led by the Holy Spirit to keep such practices. I shall pray about it and would keep going as the Lord leads me’.

Individual leading is fine and important, but should be consistent with at least basic generally accepted Christian teachings and with reason.
If it is, I see no problem with such sentence, at the moment.

Not specifically referring to anything. I’m just saying instead of arguing with someone you disagree with regards to gentile or law or anything, why not we display love, kindness and peace more and say-

Thanks for sharing. At present, I’m not led by the Holy Spirit to keep such practices. I shall pray about it and would keep going as the Lord leads me’.

Ok. Thanks for sharing. I’m not eloquent just as Moses wasn’t. I can only pray that God will help me see the unity, love, peace and kindness in His body of believers instead of arguing about such small matters.

I'm not entirely sure of the point being made...

Hello @faroukfarouk

I’m just saying I would like to see more unity, love, peace and kindness in the body of believers of Christ instead of arguing about such small matters which might cause more harm than good.
