Those four years or eight years will happen anyway, you won't make them pass any faster by willing them to. The only thing you can be sure of is you'll be four or eight years older and what you want done you won't have done anything to contribute to getting it done.

Except doesn't the desire to be exalted sound a lot like wanting to please people? A lot like wanting to be a popular democratic leader?
Work with him, not against him.
If you really think he is a hopeless case, as bad as G W Bush or Ronald Reagan, or Bill Clinton,
then look for a replacement. How is it the Democratic Party is once again unable to find a good candidate? One is nearly dead and the other has no vision of the future except one that will cost the entire wealth of the country to get it, and nobody seems all that clear about what 'it' actually is.
