In the pill form, would it be a sin to take it? Medical marijuana doesn't have the "high" effect that you get from smoking it. I believe it's a sin to smoke marijuana and do anything that alters your mind, but what if you are in a lot of pain and the doctor prescribes medical marijuana? Would it still be a sin if you take it strictly for pain only? And not actually smoke the real marijuana, just take the pill form?

Take it.
God sees the heart.
Pain is bad and not from God.

I can't see why not, if it has no mind altering effects. People take opiates for pain relief. They can be dangerously addictive. I know someone prescribed Fentanyl. He took it once and refused after that - his wife told him what he was like while it was in his system. In all things we need to seek the Lord. People react in different ways to some medications.

The last I checked the FDA has not approved marijuana for medical use. Edible marijuana is also a hallucinogen.

From ... FDA and Cannabis: Research and Drug Approval Process

"To date, the FDA has not approved a marketing application for cannabis for the treatment of any disease or condition. The agency has, however, approved one cannabis-derived drug product: Epidiolex (cannabidiol), and three synthetic cannabis-related drug products: Marinol (dronabinol), Syndros (dronabinol), and Cesamet (nabilone). These approved drug products are only available with a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider."

Just because the FDA hasn't approved marijuana for medical use doesn't mean that it is not effective as in the case of seizures in children. I give my dog CBD oil for severe anxiety and agitation because none of the FDA approved meds worked. The CBD oil is an absolute miracle.

What kind of pain?

I would say go for it if it helps your pain, and there is no buzz involved but I was an avid smoker for my entire life, up to about 5 years ago, (45 yrs on pot) and I never once received pain rev lief from it...nothing even close. And I've had plenty of pain issues so...

Now it will help with the pain of life so to speak, but that is what you and me both are against. We could stay drunk all the time too, if it weren't so taxing on the body, but that would be the cowards way out, and God never intended for us to do it that way. We are to feel the pain of life, but physical pain, no, something needs to be done if that is the case.

On the other hand, if one truly feels their life is completely ruined with depression or what have you, because they are void of that feeling of well being, something needs to be done about that as well.

Probably more than you asked for...oh, well. :)

Romans 14:23. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.
The liberty of a believer is to act in faith. Laws of man are relevant. Your decision must be
ultimately based on your conscience.

if it's legal and taken responsibly it's as sinful as taking any other medication to manage pain.

There are better epilepsy medicines available.

what if you are in a lot of pain ?

Lifestyle Choices

"Our body is a “connected system that works best when everything is optimized. And if your lifestyle has included a poor diet, being overweight, inactivity, poor sleep and stress, it may well be contributing to chronic inflammation,” ...

Other factors thought to contribute to chronic inflammation include smoking, excessive alcohol, nutritional deficiencies, environmental pollutants in the food chain, and lack of proper exercise. Taken together, these all lead to persistent, chronic, low-grade, systemic inflammation.

Just use hemp. I live with chronic pain and God was pretty clear to me that he abhors marijuana. I think maybe it was created for cancer patients to get hungry after chemo. I think he hates the fact that he had to create it for suffering.

Hemp works well to relax my muscles and makes the pain tolerable. I am able to avoid opiate prescriptions. Oh and he didn’t make every seed bearing herb to smoke. Cannabis is to be used as an edible medicine.

People will judge you if you use it. I have come to the place where I don’t care what they think. Try walking a mile in my crocs and then judge me.

I disagree. I've watched news documentaries wherein parents were forced to give their children non-THC containing marijuana because they suffered with very severe seizures that medication could not control. Existing medication doesn't always adequately address health conditions which is why alternatives should be considered and researched. For example, many schizophrenics do not experience enough relief from anti-psychotics. As a result, researchers have been finding that high doses of B vitamins aid in the relief of schizophrenics' symptoms (here's the link to the article - B vitamins may improve schizophrenia symptoms). Such reliance of a natural alternative would have unthinkable even just five years ago. Sometimes the medical field needs to catch up to naturally based treatment alternatives.

The FDA does not have the monopoly on medical knowledge.

If its a pill with one of the names A-Thinker mentioned then it's not "marijuana".

Airborne cannabis is something I'm dangerously allergic to. Will it be on your breath or in your pores after you swallow one? Will you be expected to act inconsiderately to anyone?

Medicines are concocted OUT OF all sorts of weird poisons and TURNED INTO a different substance.

(The oils are not much changed even though they have only half the constituents and they affect people nearby. But you are not asking about oils.)

I was told that it was given to me to help keep down nausea after a chemo treatment and it worked. I know because on my last treatment they apologized because they had run out. That time I was very nauseous.

The parents of a little girl who had serious seizures put her on CBD oil and it stopped almost all the seizures. None of the meds that the doctors tried worked.
