Why is it so complicated?

I feel like the more we live a life of debauchery and miscreance, the happier we are in this society.

on the other hand, the more we try to be good, pious, and the more trouble we get into, I'm the only one who notices that around you?

Hangovers, single parent families, children with no father's,drug addiction and the resultant disruption to other people's lives are in someway a good thing?

If that is your view then you do not understand the idea involved in following the makers instructions.

Don't be fooled. Sinners are not happy. Nothing satisfies them. They may get temporary relief, but it's like giving a pain killer to a person with a terminal disease. I briefly met one of the most successful businessmen in this country. I set up an alarm system in his mansion. He was hard, cold and mean. I would not trade places with him for a moment.

Life is only complicated if we make it so. When we try to work out God, we find that God is way greater than our ability to understand His ways. That's why Lord Jesus said that we need childlike trust and confidence. Lord Jesus came to give us His life in place of what we received from Adam. Lord Jesus has no problem living the life that pleases God!

Actually, over the long-term (and I can say this now that I'm 51 and not 21), I've noticed the opposite effect in people's lives, not the least of which has been in my own. So, I'd have to gently disagree with your primary assertion here ... and in this I'd counter that debauchery and being a miscreant leads to further complications and heartache in one's life.

I was thinking the same thing.

It's like "be careful what you wish for." I was in a situation where things were made available to me that I always wanted to do but didn't want to "debauch." By the time I finished, I hated myself. Years later I still feel shame and regret when I think about that those times.

When people feel like nothing or don't like how they feel, they will do anything to feel different. That plays out in a lot of ways. I think of the term "instant gratification." When you take that quick road to happiness, it's fleeting and it has consequences. Even if people like their bad behavior, they don't like the consequences.
