The reason is given in Leviticus. The life is in the blood. That's why shedding of blood as sacrifice is so significant.

The English have a disgusting sausage-like blood based food. I suppose if people are starving.....I couldn't eat it even as a child in the UK.

I don't want to go there either; but why wouldn't drinking blood be covered by grace along with everything else?

Cause God said so.

Nothing that enters a man can make him unclean.

But if a man, out of his evil heart, decides to disobey God, and eat what God has told him not to, then it is the action of disobedience that makes him unclean.

If you believe that God doesn't want you to eat strawberries, and you eat them, then you are sinning, not because strawberries are forbidden, but because you thought that God forbade them, and therefore it is your actions to satisfy your desire to disobey that make you unclean.
