I saw an article on my local news site a while ago in which Trump was telling people they shouldn't be hoarding supplies and yet here he is wanting to hoard a vaccine.

Do the people in this thread have any idea how many different countries and companies are working on a vaccine? In addition the science of vaccine production is well known and used, so there's no method patents to be had, and content patents will be very limited in scope because of lack of novelty.

Here's a list of 11 companies working on this, not including the one in this story.

Happens all the time in the "free trade" world so many wanted...until they didn’t. My appreciation of Trump is that he refuses to play by the rules falsely established, where America is expected to lie down for the Lilliputians.

Trump is just trying to get a German company to move here. He offered them more research money. Not seeing how Trump is going to profit off of it.

When it comes to a global pandemic, the world's problem IS Germany's problem. It would be in any country's best interest to help end the pandemic, even if it meant providing others with vaccines. If the world's economy collapsed because too many people were too sick to work, then Germany is also going to feel that impact. A healthy, happy population means more people out there buying and consuming.

America will definitely pay to make its vaccines, since if Germany or any other country acts to share the vaccine it will be to share the how of making it.
