I have no idea if this is in the right category but I really love my boyfriend and want to marry him soon. I found out he couldn't legally marry because of his disability benefits, and if he does marry, he will lose everything. If I have faith and firmly believe that God will make a way, will he? I want to marry very soon because I love my boyfriend so much. He won't marry me legally if he loses his benefits. He requires a lot of medication and can't work due to intellectual disability. I do believe God will find a way and I tell my boyfriend this all the time. He's just so discouraged and his life is run by fear. I'm trying to hold on to God and my faith. I just don't want to have faith all this time, only to never marry him. I would be absolutely miserable. Do you think he will answer my prayer if I have faith?

You need to be sure that it is God's will. Then you can be sure that God will answer your prayer. Life will be extremely difficult for you both and not just financially. Are you up for it? God knows the answer to that. I do not.

Do you think he will answer my prayer if I have faith?

Yes. But the mistake people make is in thinking that the answer will come in exactly the form and at the time that they have in mind.

God will not "answer our prayers" if by that we think he is obliged by our petitions to do something that we assume to be good when it actually is not. He may have other plans for us that we are, at the time of our praying, completely unaware of.

But do pray that his will be done and--if it is his will that you two should be together--that he will bring it about.

Hello @baptistgirl21, we are to commanded to pray for specific needs/wants etc., but always with the knowledge that our loving Father and Lord is sovereign, and that He may have other plans than we do for our lives, at least in the moment (as @Albion just said above). I believe that God answers all of His children's prayers, but He does so with a "yes", a "no", or a "wait", both for our sake and for His glory.

As a Christian, our focus should never be on the things that we want and/or need, rather, it should always be on Him, who knows us and loves us and provides us with all of our needs .. e.g. Philippians 4:19 (and with our heart's desires as well, unless, as a loving Father, He knows that what we want will be harmful to us).

The Bible tells us how we can get God to give us our heart's desire in the following verse (which as you can see is a wonderful command with a wonderful promise attached to it).

Psalms 37 (see Matthew 6:33 as well)
4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart
:)
The "key" to obeying our half of the verse (the command half) is found in chasing after God, ~never~ in chasing after the things that we desire/want Him to provide us with. If you do the latter (to get God to give you the thing/things that you want by trying to "delight Him" somehow, rather than by "delighting ~yourself~ in Him"), you will create a quid pro quo of sorts with God and turn Him into something that He isn't/never will be, a "Cosmic Sugar-Daddy" (and He will not fulfill His half, the promise half, of v4).

Praying for you!

Blessings to you in Christ!

But if it's not God's will for my boyfriend and I to get married, I will be absolutely heartbroken. I am seriously in love with this guy and don't want to lose him. Mine and God's relationship is rocky at the moment. I am really struggling with a lot and don't know how much more I can take. I just want to marry him because I love him.

May I ask the nature of your boyfriend’s disability?

God recognizes a Spiritual marriage. A legal marriage is part of the secular world and was never part of God's plan. But everyone has their take on this and mine is no need for a secular marriage. Get married with your family and friends who will be your witnesses.
Blessings

Faith isn't just thinking things in your head. Faith includes obedience. God will answer your prayer but be prepared for a "no." It's God's will that we're praying for, not ours. I'm not saying his answer is no, but that it could be. And if your faith is the kind of faith God's looking for, 'no' is just as good as 'yes.'

Maybe, maybe not. Praying in faith means praying for it, then keeping your eyes peeled for the "yes." That might take the form of doing some more investigating ways to make this happen.

But you've told us that he will not marry you because of not wanting to lose his disability benefits, so really...what are you proposing? Praying to God that he will somehow solve that benefits problem, or is it something else?

He actually changed his mind and said he would marry me regardless of the money. I want God's help to provide for us financially and I want him to make it possible for us to marry. I can't just be alone for the rest of my life, and I certainly can't dump my boyfriend if he's not chosen by God. I fear God will tell me not to marry him. I can't lose anyone else at the moment. I'm in love with my boyfriend and I fear God will just abandon me. I'm terrified of praying now

I see. Thank you. There wouldn't seem to be any religious impediment to your marriage, although there are financial challenges and other possible difficulties to overcome.

There is no reason to assume that God is opposed to this marriage. It is always possible that it is not in his plans for either of you, however. So I would advise you to work on solving the difficulties you face WHILE praying for God's guidance and, if it be his will, help and blessings.

If you have faith in God, you must not also be terrified or intimidated when it comes to prayer. As the Bible teaches, he is always waiting to hear from us.

No.
I don't think so.
Seek His Plan, so that perhaps He May Answer you.
Then yes, I think He will answer you - Yes, No, Maybe, Wait, or with peaceful silence for a time , of His choosing.

Well, I can identify with what you are saying. I have been there. However, now, many decades later I am quite pleased that the young lady I was so in love with and wanted more than anything in my youth is not the same young lady I married a decade plus later. Your relationship with God is much more important than your relationship with this young man. Until you have the relationship with God on solid ground and a firm solid foundation in Christ any relationship with a man is going to be less than what it could be. This man may be great for you, but you will never know until God is your focus and your relationship is solid. Then Christ will be more than savior for you, He will be Lord and then and only then will you live according to His will and will marry, if you marry, and live a life blessed beyone measure.

hi i understand i myself am disabled but if you was to marry he will not lose his benefits like his insurance he still be considered disabled,as for his income it may go down to as low as $1 depending on how much you earn as a wife as it goes by family income, but as long as he is disabled he will continus his insurance and some benefits,he can call social security and they confirm what to expect once they have all details.i hope this helps and thats wonderful your truly in love may God be with you both.

its great to be in love and God loves to see real loving marriages but if the person is not christian or following Gods word if will be impossible to live a christian life and would ruin yours,so no matter how much you think you love someone they must be followers of God in our christian family for things to go the right way.either way i will pray God helps guide you in right direction based on your situations.
