Do our dogs, cats primarily, plus other much loved pets, go to heaven?
It may seem a trivial question but to a person whose dog or cat has died, it is extremely important.
In everything i say and do, i need to bring souls to Christ, start them on their journey to salvation. A vague answer to a person's questions is not good enough. A person grieving for their dead dog needs comfort and surety. If i as a Christian do not supply it, they may go elsewhere, such as a spiritualist church or a medium. Driven by grief. I have a dog, i have been through the deaths of previous dogs. She means a huge amount to me with her huge love.

So, i am not going to ever tell anyone that animals have no soul, no place to rest after this life.
So what is the Christian understanding of animal souls and afterlife? A straight answer which could be what brings a human soul to Christ.

There have been other threads on this subject. I reiterate what I have said before.
Yes, I believe they do.
If you want to do some study on this firstly the Bible is what you hold to foremost.
For instance Isaiah 11:6-8 and Job 12:10.

There is an excellent presentation on YouTube "Do all pets go to Heaven?" by Jesus Truth. This takes you step by step throughout the Scriptures.
I highly recommend this to you.

Secondly there is a good book also
"Do dogs go to Heaven" ( it includes all animals) the author is M Jean Holmes.
This is very good too.
These are two very good resources to look at.
I did this after much study in the Bible had brought me to the conclusion that they do and it added confirmation to what I believe God says.
I know others may not agree, that's up to them, but its not up for debate for me.

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Colossians 1:20

ALL things, and I'd say cats and dogs and horses and ants and fruitflies are among them

The answer is no. Pets do not go to heaven. They do not possess souls and thus when they die they are simply gone. It's the cold hard truth but sadly most christians I know refuse to accept it because they feel sad knowing they won't see their pet again. It brought you joy in this life, and thus served its purpose (well so to speak).

And this is what I would tell anyone who is not a christian. Giving them false hope is dangerous. And who would then say what qualifies as a pet? A frog? A ant farm? A single celled organism? Anything that is alive could be called a "pet".

I the non-christian who says "But that doesn't fair or loving of God!" that if they don't want to become a christian because of not seeing a pet again, then they are focusing on the wrong thing. The bible makes many mentions of the fact we humans go to heaven. No animals. There are verse that refers to animals, but they are referring to animals He has made there instead.

I point out to them I have had many cats die in my life (family really), but I accepted once they passed, there was no more seeing them. Now I have no anxiety about it.

Based on what scripture, exactly?
what qualifies as a pet? A frog? A ant farm? A single celled organism? Anything that is alive could be called a "pet".
It doesn't matter whether an ant is an ant farm of a human or that it is wild, I believe all things are created by Him and for Him (Jesus). Colossians 1:16

It might be that your pet will be ressurected if you wanted it because animals are like machines they have no "understanding" as it's said in Bible and they aren't like sinning aswell.

Your body is a machine aswell just made out of living parts thing is what separate you from beast is soul which give you understanding.
Like your body can act with instinct aswell just like animal , put hand in fire will make your body try to drag the hand away from fire before you even notice but when you put understanding to your actions you can hold hand in fire and like firefighter walk there , save baby from fire and die himself you wouldn't be able to do that without understanding cuz it's against instinct.

I'm an animal lover and I honestly don't know but I'm ok with it.

A couple of thoughts come to mind. I strive to have an environment for my pets where they are happy and loved. It would be this that I would focus on with an unbeliever - I would be inclined to say no as in as soon as they die they don't end up in heaven, however I'd like to think that since there will be a new heaven and new earth (Rev 21) that all of creation is made new. Our pets are part of creation which happens to give us so much joy and love. Maybe that's why we have Romans 8:19 and why our time on earth must be to give our pets the best experience that they can be blessed with (Prov 12:10).

I don't know what our resurrected bodies will be like and how much authority we have but if it's the same as when Jesus spoke to the fig tree and it withered then I know who I will be speaking back into existence when I live in eternity (that's if God doesn't just fill his mansion with our pets and all that love) :)

Corgis definitely go to heaven!
Greetings Lost4words,
No doubt! Many of us took our pets with us when we moved to Europe for our ministries, and I can absolutely say the same for all of our Labs, no doubt they too are God's creatures and never miss a moment to remind us of this!

Most of us wish that Pets could go to Heaven but I doubt, there are some things that were made for earth alone not Heaven. Do animals sin? can they be judged for their sins if they do? who mediates for them in heaven? do they also go to hell if they commit murder? if animals are judged for their sins then most carnivorous animals have committed murder and will go to Hell. Only God knows

When heaven is described as wolves laying down with lambs it shows a changed environment than what is now. Made for earth alone doesn’t hold true when all the evidence is put together. Animals could be the witnesses to what evil people think there are no witnesses to. A fly on the wall could be made to talk as easily as any ass could.
People instincts are primeval and may be judged as merely animal instincts that a higher level of interaction that is humane has never been attained to. But even the most base human seems to act beyond instinct because of the premeditative states. Or cultural levels as crutches. So what is thought to be instinctual is I believe just an animal trait that will not be judged as the wolf will not be judged, but people not so much because they can only act instinctual when using simple faith.

Well this my sound crazy, but I took anointing oil annointed my two dogs in the name of Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Asked God to let them be in heaven. My friends and family found out what I did, and asked me to anoint their pets as well.

Well, we can pray for whatever we need. God grants sincere prayers. Our pets are precious to us and we love them. I'm sure God understands.

I certainly hope so, I can hardly bare thinking they would not be in heaven.
