Latter-day revelations speak of hell in at least two ways. First, it is another name for spirit prison, a temporary place in the postmortal world for those who died without a knowledge of the truth or those who were disobedient in mortality. Second, it is the permanent location of Satan and his followers and the sons of perdition, who are not redeemed by the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Spirit prison is a temporary state in which spirits will be taught the gospel and have the opportunity to repent and accept ordinances of salvation that are performed for them in temples (see Doctrine and Covenants 138:30–35). Those who accept the gospel may dwell in paradise until the Resurrection. After they are resurrected and judged, they will receive the degree of glory of which they are worthy. Those who choose not to repent but who are not sons of perdition will remain in spirit prison until the end of the Millennium, when they will be freed from hell and punishment and be resurrected to a telestial glory (see Doctrine and Covenants 76:81–85)
Hell

Telestial Glory is not hell. The strange thing about it it is that those wicked people that the Bible says will go to hell are there. There is no evidence in LDS scripture that those people did not resist the Holy Ghost. That is an anomaly.

In the LDS godhead there is a heirarchy:

President Joseph Fielding Smith said: “I believe firmly that Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God in the flesh. He taught this doctrine to his disciples. He did not teach them that he was the Son of the Holy Ghost, but the Son of the Father. Truly, all things are done by the power of the Holy Ghost. It was through this power that Jesus was brought into this world, but not as the Son of the Holy Ghost, but the Son of God. Jesus is greater than the Holy Spirit, which is subject unto him, but his Father is greater than he! He has said it. Christ was begotten of God. He was not born without the aid of Man, and that Man was God!” (Doctrines of Salvation, 1:18).
Book of Mormon Student Manual, 1989, Alma 7:10, p.74

The kingdoms of glory are not equal. The lowest god in the godhead visits those in the lowest kingdom of glory.

This part is about the Telestial Kingdom. Even after spending a long time in the Spirit Prison, they don't believe the Gospel. They're not sent into the Outer Darkness. Telestial Kingdom has its glory that surpasses all understanding; so why is it called hell? In what sense did they not deny the Holy Spirit? Is there a possibility of movement from one Kingdom to another? Please correct me.

The assignments to kingdoms are permanent. There is no progression from one to another.

Outer darkness is a permnanent hell, but not a place of fire and brimstone. It is an awareness of the blessings you could have had had you obeyed all the laws and ordinances.

Don't try to make sense of the Telestial Kingdom being called a place of glory. That statement contradicts the Bible and can't be explained by Mormonsim.

"The inhabitants of the telestial kingdom will include those who were murderers, liars, sorcerers, adulterers, and whoremongers—in general, the wicked people of the earth (see D&C 76:103; Revelation 22:15). These inhabitants of the telestial kingdom will have become clean through their suffering so that they can abide telestial glory.
  1. The inhabitants of the telestial kingdom will suffer the wrath of God and be cast into hell until the end of the Millennium (see D&C 76:84, 104–6; 2 Nephi 28:15).

  2. Those in the telestial kingdom will receive the Holy Ghost through the ministration of those in the terrestrial kingdom (see D&C 76:86, 88).
  3. Telestial glory surpasses all human understanding (see D&C 76:89)
  4. Those obedient to telestial laws will be resurrected with telestial bodies in the Second, or Last, Resurrection (see D&C 76:85; 88:31; Mosiah 15:26).
  5. Chapter 33: Kingdoms of Glory and Perdition
The sons of perdition go to outer darkness; see next post.

The scriptures explain who the sons of perdition are and what their fate will be.

  1. Satan and the one-third of the hosts of heaven who followed him became sons of perdition (see D&C 76:25–30; 29:36–38; Revelation 12:7–9; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6).
  2. Those who in mortality have known the power of God, been made partakers of it, and then later denied the truth and defied God’s power will also be sons of perdition (see D&C 76:31–32).

  3. Those who deny the Holy Ghost after having received it and crucify the Savior unto themselves will have no forgiveness and will be sons of perdition (see D&C 76:34–36; Matthew 12:31–32).

  4. Sons of perdition will suffer the wrath of God and partake of the second death (see D&C 76:33, 37–38).

  5. Those who become sons of perdition in mortality will be resurrected but will not be redeemed in a kingdom of glory (see D&C 76:38–39, 43–44; 88:24, 32).
  6. Only those who become sons of perdition will be able to comprehend the magnitude of the misery of those who inherit such a state (see D&C 76:44–48)

So people who leave LDS go to real Mormon hell but sorcerers, rapists and murderers can chill in the celestial kingdom. Nice lol

Sorcerers, rapists and murderers do not go to the Celestial kingdom.

Obviously, that was a typo. Should have been *te* lestial, not *ce* lestial. Could have been a misunderstanding or a Freudian slip.

The point remains, the *bad* guys get a *degree of glory* far beyond the nature of our present Earth life, while those who leave the LDS church are (in the understanding of the poster) treated *much* worse. Maybe you could clarify the teachings of your church on that.

Everyone will receive a degree of glory after the resurrection except the sons of perdition:

(New Testament | John 17:12)

12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Who are those that are sons of perdition:

(New Testament | Matthew 12:31 - 32)

31 ¶ Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

How did you come to that conclusion?

This thread is about LDS temporary hell (spirit prison) and permanent hell(outer darkness). This is not about kingdoms of glory. Granted Mormonisn is complex, but people ought not to jump to conclusions.

People who leave LDS are called apostates and I'm not teaching anything about apostates. An apostate can be someone who was baptized but never had a witness from the Holy Ghost.

That is a vague statement. How would a human know another person's heart?

Those who deny the Holy Ghost after having received it and crucify the Savior unto themselves will have no forgiveness and will be sons of perdition (see D&C 76:34–36; Matthew 12:31–32).

Not evey Mormon receives the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Not every person being baptized has a testimony or has repented. Not every male member is worthy of the Priesthood when hands are laid on his head. Not everyone receives the Holy Ghost when confirmed a member of the LDS church. The Holy Ghost, per Mormonism, is only influential on worthy members.

Where will go non religious?

Are you referring to atheists? As far as I know they aren't mentioned in LDS scriptures or manuals. Based on what I know of Mormonism though, they might go to the telestial kingdom. It depends on what position they take in Spirit Prison.

The Holy Ghost in LDS belief has a body, He isn't omni-present. So, how do people receive Him?

The worthy believing Mormons only receive His influence which only lasts a long as they are worthy of that influence.

Would you plz explain? Does he not have flesh and bone?
This is what we know about spirits:

(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 131:7 - 8)

7 There is no such thing as immaterial matter. All spirit is matter, but it is more fine or pure, and can only be discerned by purer eyes;
8 We cannot see it; but when our bodies are purified we shall see that it is all matter.

Jesus said:

(New Testament | Luke 24:39)

39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

Also:

(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 130:22 - 23)

22 The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.
23 A man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him and not tarry with him.

"personage of Spirit" is a very curious statement.
And the statement that Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.

And then in the next verse in this D&C ---not tarry with him

Sounds like you claim this personage of Spirit, but not really with the next verse.

The Holy Ghost will not tarry with those who do wickedly:

(Old Testament | Psalms 101:3 - 8)

3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.
(Old Testament | Psalms 101:7)

7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
(New Testament | Hebrews 10:38 - 39)

38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

However, the Holy Ghost will be with the righteous:

(New Testament | Jude 1:17 - 25)

17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
(New Testament | Romans 8:4 - 10)

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Seems like you muddle up what the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is.
This is what you claimed

The Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit---He is the Way

where do you find "personage of the Holy Ghost" in this verse?

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

We start out in Believing that One God is in the Father, the Word {Jesus Christ] and the Holy Spirit which are definitely ONE. So many other verse attest to that simple fact.

We are given the Spirit of Truth---- as another name of the Holy Spirit

John 16:13
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

The verses you posted are warnings about how we can quench the Holy Spirit and even ways to check ourselves, but that Spirit does not leave once we receive it.

This statement seems to be consistent with Christianity. What problem do you have with it?
