I just saw this video of a rescued dog who was so badly abused that he cries when being touched

and a second one with a rescued dog who faces the wall

To be able to get an animal like that, there had to be some real abuse done to it.

There isn't much in scripture as to how bad of a sin it is in treating animals. In fact, I honestly feel bad for many animals because they are actually screwed. They didn't disobey God in the Bible yet they are given a life in where they are nothing special other than assuring the continuation of the ecosystem. We don't know for sure if they go to heaven.

The only best scripture source we have (other than Matt 6:26) is the OT with mosaic laws, in where God really explains how he wants animals treated as humane as possible before being slaughtered for food. All concerns about the animals physical pain and emotional pain was in high consideration from God.

Additionally many people have different views on what is right and wrong in regards to killing certain animals.

So with this. How bad is animal cruelty in terms of morality and do you believe it is a big sin. Please state your reasons.

Animal cruelty is a sin. God blessed all of the animals He made when they were created. He had pairs sail with Noah on the ark so that none of those species would go extinct. Read about Barbabas and a donkey.

You think severe animal cruelty is damnable?

It could easily be so for people who love doing cruel things to life are heeding an unclean spirit and taking on its life form doing active evil, now unclean spirituality is damned, only those washed by Christ's blood are set free from evil/demon activities and will attain eternal life.

So please pray for those people who are cruel to animals, pray for a change of heart. That they may learn to love life as it ought to be - GOOD FOR ALL - also nature liberated from its bondage to death and destruction along with all the chosen. So pray for repentance before it is too late.

Peace.

You think severe animal cruelty is damnable?
not damnable as the only unforgivable sin is dying without folowing christ or abandoning christ while knowing full well who he is and only unforgivable people will feel no need to care about god but i believe its a bad sin
if i seen id sin myself as id lose control and end up beating the person and saving the animal

I don't think animal cruelty happens in a vacuum. My dad was abusive and he was abusive to animals. We had a dog who "hung itself" according to him, he drop kicked my cat incredibly hard/far, he killed and made us eat a pet rabbit. (I held out, actually sat at the dinner table 4 hours refusing to eat, didn't eat it for breakfast, and finally my mom threw it away)
So, I am pretty certain a person capable of it is also doing things easily classified as "big" sins. But, if it could exist in a vacuum, idk.
Animals all have pretty wonderful abilities that humans take away. Birds can fly! We lock them in cages! Cats can climb to incredible heights and we declaw them. We keep fish in tiny tanks, compared to the ocean God gave them; On and on. Are those abusive? Are they sins? I would never tell someone they were, even though it makes me feel bad for the animal.

I don't know if i think birds in cages is a good thing. I'm not a fan of it, honestly (but i guess it depends on the bird).

I recall someone who had a pet pigeon. She kept that in a huge hamster cage, and really loved the bird though.. however, i did think it was wrong.

Zoos also are somethings I find wrong as well. Not all of them of course, some zoos really do have good spaces and some are meant to rehabilitate animals. Especially the endangered ones. However, I went to some places in asia where it just wasn't right. Sedating lions and tigers so that guests can have pics with them, an elephant in a small enclosure that they would only let out for show, other big animals in very small cages.

I wonder if my thoughts on this is also what Jesus would think about it.

Then you have other things such as animal fur. There are countries such as China that are completely horrible when it comes to this. They skin them alive. However, can this be a sin especially since back then before technology and discovery, man had to take skin off animals for clothing. Was it ok by God then because of how we weren't smart enough yet to develop the science needed to make clothes with out harming animals, or is this an invented ethical thing we've developed based on our compassion?

No sin s damnable except disbelief

No, there are sins that aren't just "disbelief" that are damnable. Saying that only "disbelief" is damnable is eliminating the existence of morality and making it useless.

For example, the sins of the Nazi's.. even if they believed in God they would be damned. Believing in God becomes useless and perverse if you as a person have works of that of a monster.

Animal cruelty is definitely a sin. Another text is Proverbs 12:10 which reminds me of cruelty cases where the owner says " I love my animals......" but the conditions speak otherwise.
In the New Testament Jesus mentions, when accused of breaking the Sabbath (Luke 13:15) is one among many that speaks of care for animals.
Animals have paid dearly since the fall of Adam and Eve, but that does not mean that we have liberty to be anything other than kind towards them.
Cruelty may not be a damnable offence but I would certainly be very dubious about anyone who say they are Christian, yet cruel to animals.

This is false doctrine and the Bible teaches the opposite. The father sent his only begotten son, that >whosoever< believes in him, will not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16.

Many nazis and other people who have done horrible things have repented, believed in Christ and been forgiven. The only sin that can’t be forgiven is blaspheming the Holy Spirit, which means rejecting the gospel. You are obviously free to disagree with the Bible though.

How many saw the first video btw?
Yes I saw the video and there are many others sadly.
The only good thing about these are the fact that the animals are rescued, but there are many that aren't and that breaks my heart.

When you see the extent that the rescues go to, to rehabilitate it, does restore a little bit the fact that there are kind people around.

My view on the fur trade etc is that nowadays it is not necessary because we have other materials, as far as food etc, if they have to be killed it should be in the most humane way possible.
As for the stuff in a lot of Asian and Middle eastern countries, it is downright barbaric cruelty, I don't care what their culture is.

Some zoos are good, the ones that have open enclosures that allow a lot of space with natural settings and some are actually keeping some species from extinction due to loss of habitat and poaching.
The other ones should be closed down.
Ideally we wouldn't have any need of zoos but unfortunately we are living with the consequences of the Fall.

The kingdom to come will be beautiful where man and beast will live together perfectly restored. I long for this.:cat::racehorse::tiger::elephant::palmtree::pandaface::dromedarycamel::dog::cow::sheep::horseface::rabbitface::deciduous::koala:

There are teachings in the Bible that are spread out. Not everything is contained in a verse. We have verses about faith and other verses about works, you can't ignore the later. So since both are in scripture than logically both are rules, it's just there are verses that pay more attention to one for sake of the context.

Rev 20:12: And there were open books, and one of them was the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books.

Matt 7:22: Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name... Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’

These verses can't be ignored. You see in Matt 7:22 these are believers, yet Jesus dismisses them on account of their works.

I don't want to get into a debate on justification. Make your own thread on that.

I feel the same way. I think the preserves in Africa are good, protecting tucked animals from poachers.
China, I'm not so certain every one who lives there actually have the same options we do. I think that for other places in the world too.
