It's got nothing to do with feelings. It's about making a decision. God has already saved everyone. But not all want to be saved. Those who do want to be saved need only to accept Christ, which is a decision of the will, not a feeling.

What are you trying to do in order to obey Christ?
The disciples of Jesus asked what they could do to do the works of God, and Jesus replied, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
This links with the Scripture: "By grace are we saved through faith, and not of ourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works lest anyone should boast."
So, obeying Christ is believing that He is the Son of God, and that He rose from the dead, and putting your trust in Him for your life and future. Everything else follows from that.
Receiving salvation is a gift from God because you have faith alone in Christ. There is nothing you can do to earn it, or contribute to it. It is your faith in Christ that gets you into heaven. This is what resting in Christ means. It means to stop trying to please God and be accepted by him through works of "obedience". You are not obeying Christ by trying to improve your moral or spiritual self. If you are trying to do that, then grace is no more grace, and Christ is no longer effective for you.

But sanctification is the development that comes out of your growth in grace and in the knowledge of God. It is allowing the Holy Spirit to work in you to transform you into the person Christ wants you to be.

i do have faith and i admit i have been trying to improvd myself instead of letting god do it bu it changes right now ill let jesus sent the spirit and change me but i get scared incase it never happens

The promises in the Bible are written for you so that you can put your trust in them. The Bible is God's communication to mankind. You can trust in what He has written in there for you, because He does not lie. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. If God says to you, "Come, let us reason together. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow", then when you come to Christ, confess your sin and receive Him as Saviour, then you can depend on Him to forgive you, cleanse you and forget all your past sins. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." All we need to do is to talk to God about our shortcomings, sins and failures, and He does the rest.

I once asked the Lord about what I can do about my failures and shortcomings so I can be a real Christian. He said, "If I don't like anything about you, I will change you." The transformation into the person God wants us to be is by the Holy Spirit within us. Over time, we find that some things that God does not want in us seem to fall away, and things we were interested in once, no longer interest us; and friends that we once had who were getting in the way of our faith seem to disappear and new friends come who support us in Christ. We start to develop a real hatred for sin which makes us talk to God about it and plead with Him for Him to remove sinful habits and desires from us. He removes some, but allows others to stay because He wants us to remain humble before Him, knowing that we are mortal and sinful in ourselves, but in Christ we are righteous and pure. It is much better to run to Christ in the face of failure and sinfulness than to run away from Him.

Because He died on the cross and took the penalty for our sin, and rose again to show that He has power over sin and death, we are no longer afraid to talk to God about the sins that seem to stick to us at times. Jesus is our judge, but He is also our defence lawyer, so we know that when we open our hearts and bring out all the skeletons out of our moral and spiritual closets, He will not reject us, but assure and strengthen us in our faith in Him. The fear in disclosing our sins is getting the penalty for them. But if the penalty is removed, the sins no longer have power over us. This means that we can freely talk to God about our sinful habits, be forgiven and cleansed, and in God's time have those habits removed from us.

The Scripture says that those who come to Him, He will in no wise cast away. He will never say to you, "You can't come to Me - you are too sinful!" This is because the Scripture says, "All manner of sin and iniquity will be forgiven of men". The person who prays "Lord forgive me, a sinner" will always be accepted and loved by the Lord.

There is a good saying: "I'm just a poor sinner and nothing at all; but Jesus Christ is my all in all". D Martyn Lloyd Jones said: "There are no good Christians. There are just vile sinners saved by the grace of God."

That's what having total faith in Christ is all about. It is not self-improvement, but getting closer in faith to Christ and letting Him work within us to conform us to His image.

I just go out where I can be totally alone, like on a long wide beach, or a golf course at night, and walk along with my hands in my pockets, talking to God about my successes, failures, shortcomings and sins. I spent two hours once talking to God about every sin and unpleasant event in my life as far back as I could remember - even right back into my childhood. When I finished that, I felt totally free.

The trouble is that we get too formal when we talk to God, and His response is: "Why for land sakes are you using that formal Shakespeare language? Can't you just be yourself when you talk to Me and just says things how they really are?" I think we are afraid of shocking God or being too familiar with Him. I learned that if I talked to Him the same way as I talked with my own father or my best friend, He didn't mind that at all, because I wasn't trying to put on a religious act, trying to be more spiritual in my talk than I really was. God appreciates when we are honest and open with Him.

The way a lot of people pray when they say things like, "Oh mighty Father I come to thee and pray that thou mightest bless me", etc., and so on, they are just praying religious gobbledegook, thinking that this is the way we should approach God. It would be the same if I came home and talked to my wife in formal, Shakespeare language: "I bid thee good morrow dear lady, and see that thou hast my evening repast all prepared so expertly for me." She would probably throw the meal in my face!

Read through the book of Psalm in a modern translation and you will see how the psalmist prays. He uses very open, honest, and direct language when he is talking to God. We are allowed to talk to God from our hearts, and He will enjoy our prayers much more as a result.

i do that when i walk to the shop/store most days i talk to jesus and tell him about my day and sins and stuff that worries me
