Then why do people assume they are supposed to send kids to school, church or whatever?
Too many people become parents for the wrong reasons. I told my son when his daughter was born that his life didn't belong to him. It belonged to his daughter before him. Thankfully, he's a great Dad.

Really?

First, please define “religious right”. After that, pleas present the evidence that this group wants forced prayer.

Webster Parish, Louisiana (CNN)Kaylee Cole walks into school each morning and has breakfast with friends.
Every day starts the same: Announcements, birthdays and school events are broadcast over the public address system. What comes next is what she dreads.
"They say, 'Please stand for the Prayer and the Pledge.' And then we move right into it. And it's the Lord's Prayer," Cole says.
Cole sits down. Raised as a Christian but now agnostic, she doesn't want to hear it.
...
Cole is silent, respectful, she says.
"Hallowed be thy name..."
Her classmates glare at her. One, she says, has even muttered, "Devil be rid of me!" at her.
...
Religion made its way into instruction, too, Cole alleges. She recalls a teacher slapping the Bible on her desk and declaring it should be taken literally. And a science teacher saying evolution is a "fairy tale," that students should believe in "Adam and Eve, not the big bang."

All because the church abandoned the Kingdom of God to rejoin the world of man in Constantine's time and become kingdom builders in their own image rather than God's, accepting the power Jesus turned down in the desert.

And we have a winner.

According to a complaint filed on behalf of the family, who is identified as the “Does,” teachers at the Swainsboro Primary School in Swainsboro, Georgia “regularly led their classes in Christian prayer,” a practice that violates the Constitution’s First Amendment. When the Doe parents complained that their children’s kindergarten and first grade teachers were leading the class in unconstitutional prayers, their teachers allegedly “told the Doe children to leave their classrooms and sit in the hallway while the rest of the class prayed.”
...
Meanwhile, Cel Thompson, a kindergarten teacher, allegedly “announced to the entire kindergarten class that Jamie [Doe] was not allowed to pray to God and then told Jamie to wait in the hallway while the rest of the class prayed.”
...
Jesse’s science teacher, according to the complaint, told Jesse to “make a good decision” about the unconstitutional prayers. The gym teacher also allegedly encouraged the first grader to simply give up and start praying with the class.

This pressure allegedly climaxed when Kaytrene Bright, Jesse’s homeroom teacher, held the child back from recess “to talk to Jesse about Bright’s personal conception of the Christian god.” According to the complaint, Bright told Jesse that the child’s mother “is a bad person for not believing in God.”

As the only Jewish students in the rural Pike County public schools, the Herring children say they have learned a great deal about religion -- the fundamentalist Christian variety.

When Paul Herring, 14, was sent to the school office to be disciplined for disrupting class, he was ordered by the vice principal to write an essay on "Why Jesus Loves Me." When David Herring, 13, failed to bow his head during a school assembly prayer, a teacher allegedly reached over and lowered it for him. After Sarah Herring, 11, heard a minister deliver a fire-and-brimstone sermon at her elementary school, she said, she had nightmares for weeks about burning in hell.

The children's parents, Sue and Wayne Willis, said they have complained frequently about the activities, as well as name-calling and other alleged abuse by other students, only to be dismissed as troublemakers and to be told, "This is how we do things in Alabama."
...
On one occasion, the suit charges, Paul's teacher ordered him to remove a Star of David lapel pin he was wearing because she said it was a prohibited gang symbol; on another, a teacher responded to Sue Willis's complaints by allegedly replying, "If parents will not save souls, we have to."

The ACLU and ACLU of Delaware (2017) reversed a school’s decision to suspend a Muslim high school student who wears a kufi. The school agreed to allow the student to wear his kufi in school, amend district policy, and provide training on students’ religious freedom rights.

The ACLU of West Virginia (2017) contacted school officials on behalf a Muslim student who said his classmates and teacher harassed him for his faith.

The ACLU of Northern California (2015) represented a Native American public high school student who wanted to wear a ceremonial feather in his graduation cap.

The ACLU of Louisiana (2014) secured a student’s right to maintain his religiously mandated hairstyle.

The ACLU of Tennessee (2014) defended an elementary-school student’s right to read his Bible during a free-reading period.

The site has many, many more examples of the ACLU's work to assure students can exercise their First Amendment rights to freedom of religion in public schools.

I’m not sure how you think an anecdotal story addresses my question.

Good thing the president is making this an issue so that hopefully these things won’t be happening. ;)

The ACLU is already putting a stop to this. And they will do it, regardless of the religion of the student being abused.

Trump already made it clear that he cares only about using the issue to hold his base.

I’m not sure how you think an anecdotal story addresses my question.

All those facts show you who is opposed to religious freedom. The fact that the religious right is furious at the ACLU for supporting religious freedom for all students, is sufficient evidence how they look at it.

Given the failure of Congress to take action to pass laws to minimize school shootings, I am sure that students and parents pray everyday.

But I don't think He smiles on those who can act to make children's environments safer and refuse to do so because their campaigns are funded by the NRA.
