Hi all, when I was younger, I didn't follow God as I should have. When I was 19 years old or 20, I had a neighbor who I helped clean her house. She was a married woman and I feel bad because i feel like I flirted with her a bit by laughing and giggling when we talked. I had feelings of attraction but never acted on it, but still, I just feel sick that I flirted and I remember I dressed pretty fancy to impress her. I have asked God for forgiveness but feel bad I haven't apologized to the woman or husband because since then I have moved and it was a while back. They probably aren't even aware, but I just feel miserable about this and it is eating me up. What should I do? Does God forgive me? Thank you

God forgave a murdering adulterer named David. Why would He not forgive you? I suggest that you read this to help you:

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I John 1:9

I would say something along the lines - God, I will not doubt you. I accept your forgiveness Thank you for your forgiveness and for being faithful and just and cleanses me.

Of course, God forgives us of our past indiscretions. You are being way too hard on yourself especially if what you share is all there was. Apologizing at this point would be inappropriate and as the saying goes, "Let dead dogs die." Besides you share here this happened when you were young and not as mature as you may be now. Of course, young to you may mean last year. ?? I assume you are a mature man now. Just ask God to guide you in how you relate to women here and now. And try not to be womanizing them or flirting as you feel you did with this women..even if they are not married. Honor, respect, dignity, and care for anyone we encounter is what the gospels teach us. Endeavor to be sincere now and not to hold yourself to a past minor indiscretion. Talking over these obsessive feelings with a pastor or minister (male) or, if you are still young, a youth minister, could be helpful or if you have a counselor as well. God bless!

Ya God forgives us, we even forgive others who have hurt us . The last ones we forgive is ourselves, we can't let it go and the enemy uses this in our quiet times. We wrestle not with flesh and blood, the battle ground is in our minds. You can fight this with the word of God. I would encourage you to please listen to this video, it is exactly on what you are going through, he hits on several scriptures in the video which is part of an 11 video series entitled Free Indeed:

She enjoyed having your cheerful help cleaning her house and would have given it no more thought than that.
You attach importance to it.
So tell that to God. Having done what ever form of confession you use accept that God has forgiven and forgotten about it.
So if your guilty conscience torments you. Thank God for his grace and mercy in forgiving you All your sins .

Hey bro, I agree with the general sentiment that you can move forward and be assured that you are forgiven.
There's something interesting to me about the spaces between self-forgiveness, moving on, letting go, & God's grace. It's obvious which one trumps the others, but we humans have to learn to side with God. I heard a sermon recently that conviction comes from God; condemnation however, comes from ourselves or Satan. Hang in there bro.
