How would you know if someone was giving you a correct answer?

In between your horror movies and video games, start reading your Bible. Then you will start getting an idea of God's best for you.

(And you will also be able to test our answers to see if they fit.)

Be sure to go to church, too.

Yes it is a sin to do such things because the writers and directors, and the producers who create such movies are under the influence of Lucifer and other satanic agents. Those scary movies are used to instill fear in the people of the supernatural elements of this world, all the while, most of those people do not even believe that real demons exist. So what does this create? It creates disillusionment with God, because once the people are in a state of fear, it allows Lucifer and his satanic agents the opportunity to inflict great danger on the lives of these people and those people will never turn to God for help.

You will notice that the closer you come to God, you cannot even watch such nonsense scary movies. Those scary, horror thrillers are only enticing to those who do not take Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those scary horror movies are only for the unbelievers.

We are living in end times. The devil knows that time is running out before Christ returns and declares judgement. Therefore madness is running helter-skelter throughout this world. Be careful of what you ingest into your mind with your eyes. Satanic agents are initiating unsuspecting people with many of these movies. Read the bible, Go to Church, Pray for Holy Spirit Fire to protect you.
The devil is no match for the God, always be careful of anything in this world that tries to instill fear into you. Anything that try to instill fear into you is of the devil. There should only be fear of God or the Devil will devour you.

Go in peace to love and serve the lord

I don't mind the odd ghost story. Myths, legends and storytelling have been a part of every culture throughout the whole of history. It encourages our creative imagination, helps us to understand the lives (real or imaginary) of the characters involved, and assists us with empathising with those whose life experiences and perspectives are different to our own. Some of the stories indeed make us feel uncomfortable, but I think sometimes it helps us to develop our own coping strategies for managing our own uncertainties and fears.

Personally, I am pretty agnostic when it comes to ghosts. I neither believe or disbelieve in them. But I find ghost stories and legends very entertaining, especially the tales with "twists" in them which make very clever storywriting.

I am much more uncomfortable when it comes to films or TV programmes that feature people using ouija boards or conjuring up spirits, or people deliberately attempting to make contact with the dead through seances.

I don't know that it's a sin, but you should probably ease into it and watch scary movies with humans, first. You can share popcorn with humans, and humans aren't necessarily scary. Then you can move to the next level and watch scary movies with ghosts. The great thing about watching scary movies with ghosts is that they don't need a seat and you won't have to share your popcorn. The downside is they're ghosts, so that now not only are you watching a scary movie but you're doing it with ghosts who are also scary. So, you know, ease into it, if you must.

Edit: Now that I think about it, if a ghost is willing to sit and watch a scary movie with you, you should be fine. Generally speaking, movie watching ghosts are also friendly ghosts, I would think.

One of the benefits of having a throw over my sofa is that I can hide in it if things get a bit too spooky!

I watch EVERY movie with a Ghost!

(He's not scary once you get to know Him; just if you are on the wrong side of Him...)

Was wondering if its a sin to watch scary movies with ghosts etc?

Hello Jags,

There are somethings which regardless of whether they are a sin or not, maybe harmful to you spiritually. I would say that a horror film with ghosts is a doorway to further danger. There is a spiritual realm out there, a real spiritual realm, good and bad. You may not be able to control what happens if you walk through that doorway.

For example the bible says:

'Do not look for advice from people who get messages from those who have died. Do not go to people who talk to the spirits of the dead. If you do, they will make you "unclean." I am the LORD your God' (Leviticus 19:31)

This I believe is an admonition not to walk through those doorways into spiritual danger.

As for movies just being 'fiction'. Have demons and evil spirits subscribed to that idea? They might have an opinion on the matter too.

God Bless :)

It is not a sin, but not every thing is helpful. What we dwell on effects our mind. If we dwell on fearful things we will have fears, if we dwell on good things we will feel good. But all that said if you want to watch scary movies that is ok. I have created a video on entertainment and what I feel is right for me as a Christian.

I believe so for numerous reasons. One should pray incessantly. Love the father with all your mind. Stay away from Satanic portals. I will fear no evil. I could go on and on. Maybe you should set up a poll.

I don't consider ghost or horror movies to be good for a Christian to watch.
When all is said and done, if you have to question it, then perhaps you are being convicted by the Holy Spirit.
Questioning whether its OK seems to indicate that you aren't totally comfortable with it.
That's a good indication in itself.

I don't think the Lord will send someone to hell for wanting to watch a scary movie on Friday night. As long as you know where your heart is and don't let it get to your head. Besides God makes evil and good but it's usually for a good purpose...I don't think it is like those scary movies though... Like I said a scary movie won't send you to hell.. I been watching horror movies growing up..
