• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is there really a difference anymore? It's all Evangelipublicans to me. For some people, politics and religion are one in the same, it seems.

Well, it's really not. But if we have 2 main political parties that are polar opposites of each other, one is bound to be more appealing to Christians/atheists than the other. Therefore, each side is going to support one over the other almost across the board.

So where is God when these "religious upporters" deal with the political rather than religious or spiritual aspects?

Waiting out in the hall until such time as He is relevant to the issue?

He's where He always is.
As for the supporter himself, he's in a political forum rather than a religious or spiritual forums. As you know, there are rules here about what can be discussed in each place.

?

Of course it is.

It's "Before you accuse me take a look at our own self" relevant
We're talking about a public figure. Its normal to discuss the behavior of public figures without have to blab you own personal testimonial all over the discussion.

Polar opposites? I think that's an exaggeration.

It's at least 90% accurate. Sure, there's going to be a little crossover between voters and which party they vote for. But for the most part, people are pretty much entrenched in what they value.

. Even in the bible it’s has verses about the harm mere words can cause. What if someone decided to violently assault that man at the “ suggestion” of this idiot preacher. Like Dylann Root took the suggestive racist rhetoric of Trump and murdered 9 people who were just minding their own business .

That happened under Obama. Roof was radicalized by the more extreme Alt-Right rhetoric on the internet, however.

There are many Democrats that are centrists, and even a few that are conservative. Being a Democrat isn't about being the opposite of a Republican, necessarily, and Democrats traditionally haven't been as ideologically-driven as Republicans.

I suppose many are. But the majority are going to vote for their democrat candidate. Look at their representatives in the House and Senate. How do they vote on most issues? Party-line.

They cut deals with each other to present a relatively unified caucas, it's called horse-trading. Politics is about compromise, and these sorts of exchanges are a necessary part of that.

I guess that's why Christianity never caught on with me... I was under the mistaken impression that one's faith was a 24/7 deal...

My point is perfectly sound.

No it isnt.

Do you talk all about how much you lie, or have repented for lying, every time you accuse some politician of lying? Of course not. That would be absurd.

Go to the self-help forum sections if you want to talk all about personal stuff. The "news" section is for discussing newsworthy people and events.

God is omni-present. That means He's everywhere.

He certainly wasn't with the pastor who wanted to assault Bolton... for doing what, exactly?

He was there. Just because a person doesn't do as they should doesn't mean God isn't there.
