There is God the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. We read in the bible that the Father has given all things to the Son, which would include the words of God. We read that the Spirit does not speak on His own initiative, but as He hears He speaks. Essentially the Spirit acts like a living telephone line to Jesus Christ, the Word of God, who has the words of God. So it is that the Holy Spirit speaks to our spirit. He doesn't speak His words but the words of God that belong to the Son, Jesus Christ. If you are on a phone (which is a device that does not speak on it's own imitative but as the phone hears it speaks to you words from the other end) you can talk to your brother or friend. You might say you are on the phone but you don't say the phone spoke to you, but you say your friends spoke to you.

So it is that we read in the Bible that a person is in the Spirit or taken up in the Spirit. You might also read things like 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' like written to all seven churches in Revelation, but what word written is actually a quote from the Spirit of God?

Now I hear the Spirit of God speaking to my spirit, but His words are from my Lord Jesus Christ who is the Word of God. He got them from the Father. So we have a triune God. Still one day, after I had a conversation with a pastor at me church, the Lord started telling me - "Quad God, Quad God, Quad God"

He sometimes sound a bit weird to me. Why was He telling me "Quad God" I asked and He told me that many are making it 'Father, Son, Spirit, and Holy Bible'

Now in the conversation I had with the pastor; he was telling me that he got saved because the Bible spoke to His spirit and the Bible had saved him. That didn't sound right to me so I had asked him if he now didn't actually believe the Spirit had spoken to him while he was reading His Bible so that the Lord was his savior? He instantly got pretty mad at me. I had to leave.

We are supposed to be seeking Jesus Christ. We should know that He is our savior. His sheep are supposed to be listening to His voice!

Now the first words I heard from Him were "Read Your Bible". They came with power and hit me really hard. It felt like someone had thrown a basketball against my head. There were a few things I learned from those first three words. One was that He is not my Bible but One who does say "Read Your Bible" I learned that He is alive and active!

Now I read my Bible and still do. I learned a lot more. Still, it is not about knowing the Bible but about knowing Him personally. The Spirit of God is not the only spirit out there, but since Jesus Christ is your savior, who would tell a person that the Bible saved them? Who would tell a person that the writings are alive and active? Who is promoting that the Bible is God? The writings are from God through people, but still Jesus told the Jews they were searching the Scriptures thinking in them they are eternal life instead of coming to Him.

We are trying to be disciples of Jesus Christ, are we not? So read your bible like He tells you but don't think it saves you. Don't think it is alive and active. The Scriptures are sacred writings, not the fourth member in the God head.

Heb. 4:12
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

James 1:21
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

You are not understanding what your pastor is saying. I would suggest you have a deeper conversation with him. Give him the opportunity to explain, he is correct!

God places His Word above His name for a reason. Psalms 138:2

Heb. 4:12

The above is an excellent verse regularly misunderstood and quoted incorrectly.

Of course if you just quote it you are correct. But what does it mean to you. Does it mean Jesus Christ, as the Word of God, is alive and active? Or does it mean that your Bible is alive and active?

It is amazing how often I run into people who think their Bible is alive and active. Of course this mistake is proven to be a mistake if you include the very next verse.

Heb 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom I have to do.

So the word of God that is alive an active is a "Him", and it is the Him with whom I have to do.

People, I have a Lord! I say that because He talks to me. He gives me teachings. He was the One who told me "Read Your Bible". So He is the "Him", with whom I have to do. I have to account to Him. The Bible is not alive. Thus the Bible is not active. The Bible can not divide soul, spirit, joint, marrow. The Bible can not judge.

Now when we take a physical item, like a rock or pick of wood, and we tell ourselved that that inanimate object is God, then it is call an idol. My friends, people are making an idol out of the Bible!!

The sad part is that our teaching is often to blame to them making a idol out of the Bible. We get a zeal for the Bible instead of a zeal for knowing the Lord, like the Bible tells us. So we raise the Bible over our heads and proclaim it to be the Word of God. But we are supposed to be lifting up Jesus Christ!!! And His name is called "The Word of God".

The Spirit once told me, "Karl, we don't use the Lord to preach the Scriptures. We use the Scriptures to preach the Lord."

Now we have a nice section on this forum called Discipleship: Following Jesus. And that is correct. We personally are looking to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. That is possible because He is alive and active. He is the Teacher. He is the Wonderful counselor. He is able to 'judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart' and 'And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom I have to do.'

Now then, since it is written that His sheep hear His voice - who is your pastor?

If you tell me that I am not understanding what my pastor is telling me - are you thinking my pastor is the man at the front of the church I go to or are you thinking Jesus Christ as my pastor?

I generally like the pastors at my church, but they can be wrong. My Lord, however is not wrong. And of Him it is written:

Is 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together." Says the Lord, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Thought they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.

Concerning the pastor written about in the OP; We are friends to this day. Which is about five years later. He was wrong, but I suspect God used the situation to correct a misconception. He should have known "Jesus" means God's salvation, and he probably did. So how could have he told me that the Bible saved him? He simply got zealous for the bible instead of Jesus Christ. Those things can happen - which of course is why it should be brought up here on the Christian forum. We are supposed to be pointing people to Jesus Christ = He is alive and active.
