Hello everyone,

I used to be a Republican but, then after the seeing the volatileness of the Trump administration and watching as the families are being torn apart by different old laws that were passed or being enforced that need to be updated to modern standards. I really decided to start taking a deeper look at things especially after meeting my now fiancee whose dad is from Mexico and I got to hear their story on what happened with them and many others who were living in poverty in Central and South America. I started do a research project about it at my school to find out more because, I've been turning a blind eye to it kind of for years thinking it's just better to become an isolationist country but, as I started to look more into the other side of things when it came to people migrating from other countries and the reason behind why they would become documented citizens due to it being far too expensive for people living in poverty and the time it takes for the paperwork to go through where it can take a long time, not to mention trying to get there whole family over. They are trying to get to countries that are prospering to have better lives and to feed their children and themselves and be able to be healthy and live some good lives it really started to change my perspective. I didn't really agree with the Democratic Party though either on many standpoints because, I do have right wing influence with my family being Republican mostly and so, I started to look at other parties even though I'm not really into politics but I do have my opinions and I just really decided to think of how can I help all these people in some way and make a difference for others who are struggling and suffering? I also learned in a lot my classes when it came to issues in the world and trying to figure out how we can solve them. I know that George Washington I paraphrase said that when political parties are going against each other that they will eventually tear the country apart and I feel like we're seeing that today and I don't want to be a part of the destruction of our young nation. I also started to really look up what Trump is doing to Central and South Americans and I discovered that he was is really doing hes done many human right violations and I also just really think that this could have been taken care of in a much better and organized way where we could keep families stay together and also still do background checks on people as they're coming and/or before they come and so that we could still keep our country safe. I really would like for there to be a middle ground for us to really do that. I also recently discovered that the United States has been turning a blind eye to what's been happening at the border and this has been happening before Trump even became president. I heard that they are letting people cross into the border and dying essentially and they are wanting this to happen as a form of extermination so, that other people from Central and South America can see this and decide not to cross over which is very devastating that they are allowing this to happen on purpose and want less people to come over who are suffering and just trying to feed their family and trying to survive in the land even the Bible does say to be kind to the foriegner. I mentioned new finding such as the to that i mentioned which was separating families and putting kids behind a fence and cages which is just so inhumane and they should have thought of a better way to do this either by putting them in proper shelter and giving them proper food, water, education, since, it's gone on for so long and, then also medical care. There have been two or three children that have now died under those circumstances of being in that fenced in area they have made. So, due to all of this all these things that have happened up till now I recently joined the Humanitarian Party. It's not about the politics, it's not about the left or right that's tearing this country apart, it is about helping others through the power of Christ and numbers is the way that I see it in a helping hearts and helping hands and stop thinking that a president or a government or a political party or ideology is going to save us because, honestly the only person Who is going to save us is Jesus. Who is really truly going to help others as Christ and I'll goodness comes from Him so, it really does make sense for us is go out and do it ourselves a spreading love worldwide rather than just trying to close people out and not care or not think of our brothers and sisters around the world.

I used to be a Democrat. I was a Republican not to long ago as well. I do not feel the need to belong any longer to either the political party of Tweedle Dee Or of Tweedle Dum. I look back on the last election and it was really people voting against a bad candidate instead of voting for a good candidate. From now on I'm going to stop wasting my vote on bad candidates. Maybe I won't vote for a winner, but at least I will not have to live in shame for voting for a bad candidate.

Check out the American Solidarity Party. It's a rational centrist party that could take off. At least I hope it does.

But then Party this and Party that and the civil discord the two Parties have brought us is killing us. Taking a break from the politics is a good idea. As you noted, Jesus saves and not the Democrats or Republicans/

Every one needs one of those.

God bless from New Zealand.
Does New Zealand have a Christian Democratic party like those in Europe who were so instrumental in reconstruction after WWII? The American Solidarity Party is basically an American version of a European Christian Democratic party ala Conrad Adenauer and Helmut Kohl.

Yes, the 'New Conservative Party.' It tends to the right, is new, and not well supported.

Our parties are relatively kind to each other. I am shocked at what I see in the US now. The brutal division that we witness is worse than 'one Corinthians.'

Lol yeah and I definitely saw a lack of choice on the ballot. I might check it out, since I already joined the party that I have been looking for. I'm pretty sure the Humanitarians are more Independent.

Why do you (American's) need to label yourself as being a 'certain party' how about simply voting for the person/party with the best policies at that time?

I ask this because I am not American so I have nothing invested in your parties, but I am also a swinging voter and I vote for whoever seems to have the best policies at voting time. Unfortunately, I think most are in it for the money, power or both and that most policy is said simply said to grab votes.

We have a culture here where you join a party and identify with it. Not that we have to, but that we usually do. Of course there are folks who are apolitical and don't even bother to vote. That's getting to be about half of the adult population. Then there are some of us who have shed the tentacles of the big two parties.

With effort, you can get people on the ballot. In the last election I wasn't going to vote for either Hillary or The Donald. So I and a bunch of like minded people got an alternate voice on the ballot and he got 40,000 votes. Didn't change anything. Hillary won our state as she was almost guaranteed to do. But she won it just barely, by less than 40,000 votes. I'm not happy she won my state but we did make a showing that was not nothing. This time maybe 200,000 votes and the next time a million and a victory. If you don't like what you see, start something.

I can't even imagine being in agreement enough with one party to ever want to attach myself to it, let alone open myself up for a heap of abuse over it. I am glad to hear you have some other parties to vote for though. I will assume they will never get into power because they are too small.

Here we have to vote or be fined.

In one movie I saw you can't vote until after you've served in the Military.

The Republican Party was an upstart once, back when the Whigs and the Democrats were the big parties. There are no more Whigs. So things can change. The Republicans were an anti-slavery thing. The Whigs tolerated slavery. The Democrats were pro-slavery. Today the Democrats are pro-abortion. I wouldn't mind if they went extinct.
Here we have to vote or be fined.
That sounds evil.

There is no good political party. All political parties eventually prioritize retaining or acquiring power over all else.
That's why Jefferson said there needs to be a revolution every once in a while. Why I say old parties must be killed off in favor of new ones. Which must some day be replaced themselves.

Jefferson was as politically partisan as any other. I prefer Washington's POV on political parties/.

But in this case about revolution Jefferson was/is right. We need to get a bit unsettled from time to time. Because we haven't allowed that for so long we are coming into a large crisis that might end up very ugly. Last time we had a civil war.

Apparently, it's the influence of your fiancée that made all the difference in your change of political parties, but the premise you presented to us here is wrong in any case.

Far from being an "isolationist country," the United States has admitted more immigrants than any other nation on Earth.

In response to that truth, the notion that some times is given back--that the USA must admit EVERYONE who would like to come here or else it's "isolationist" or something else in that vein--is poorly thought-out to say the least.
