If the priest is doing a lot of house blessings on one day, they can only drink so much coffee. It is good etiquette to sit them next to a hardy pot plant so they can discretely tip their coffee into the soil if they've already had too many that day ;):D
If they are only doing our house that day then we will provide lunch/dinner.
We usually give a cash donation.

I read the words "pot plant" and was curious where this was going...

I guess that might be easily misconstrued ^_^ . It is another name for indoor plants, plants in pots in other words.
I remember asking for the rubbish bin when we were stateside, and getting blank looks in response. This might be another one of those linguistic divides.

We just call those “house plants.” ‘Cause, you know, they’re in the house.

You Aussies just get confused because you’re upside down all the time. Do y’all never put potted plants outside?

Upside down? Last time I checked the map we were right up near the top of the world, just below Antartica :)

Wouldn't that make Oz "up ovah" instead of "down undah"? :)
