For the last 20 years or so, my husband and I have had separate bedrooms, which suits us well. He snores, and I am a very restless sleeper who tosses and turns most of the night. I like a single bed and my own space, as does he nowadays.

Do other posters and their partners have separate bedrooms?

My aunt and uncle have been married for sixty years and have never slept in the same bedroom. They have two children so obviously such and such. You know.

When my mother was growing up there were my grandparents, three daughters and one son. My grandmother and the daughters shared a room and my grandfather and uncle shared a room.

Yup - I've slept in a recliner in the living room for the last 28 years (since the first Open heart). I can't sleep in a conventional bed any more.

Yes, Many jokes have been composed about men sleeping on the couch.......and it is known, that this means they have been kicked out of the bedroom.

Forgot roses on valentines day? I am sleeping on the couch tonight!

We have never bothered with valentine's day. We will have been married for 51 years this year and haven't murdered each other yet, LOL!

Very good, That means you were able to save a lot of money that we younger folks feel forced to waste.

And Yes, it was more common to sleep separate back in the days.. Sex was for children mostly......and there were fewer queen and king sized beds......

You don't have to sleep in the same bedroom to have a sexual relationship.

Correct.....Back in the olden days....people came together to make children, then departed to separate quarters to sleep. Today it is done moreso for fun and pleasure....and more often.....sleeping in the same location therefore has benefits.

Besides, why have a two bedroom house, when you can have a one bedroom house......seems more cost efficient at well. All the money you saved on ignoring Valentines day, you spent on an extra bedroom....which would not be needed today...... So we break even.

Next time my wife kicks me while sleeping, I'll bring this idea up and see how it flies..... I imagine I'd get to "sleep on the couch" for a few days......then will be forced back in just to make it known I did not get my way....

Sex isn't just for the procreation of children.

I did when I was married and it was for the exact same problem that you mentioned.

So what is it for? And why should you only do it after marriage........A religious answer, please.

It is for pleasure as well as procreation, it is crazy to wait until marriage before having it, imo.

Yep. I sleep in the attic suspended in a hammock of heavy foil where I can be closest to God and on the roof raised on my 20 foot platform in good weather. After all, we MUST be closer to Him than ANY other. It IS our relationship with Him and IN Him which enables us to have healthy, the best relationships here on earth, esp my wife. I do it for her.

Now, if you are done laughing or judging or in between. Yes, we have considered it much. There is a snorer and the other is on a hissing CPAP machine and one constantly snorts and mumbles and another sharply and abruptly coughs and the other gets up two to four times to pee and..... But we seem to manage. But one is on an air mattress on the floor and the other on a bed.

I do hope that one of your beds is at least a double for those special times.

Are we closer to God the further we are off the ground?

I see there is at least one that just could not let go of their judgement of me even of a fictitious situation. May the Lord have mercy on you.

Am I too beneath you to deserve an answer? Do you pray that you are happy you are not like sinners like me? scums of the earth, not worth to share the same space as you or sit as high as you sit?
